I'm so happy for you. I understand how scared you must have been. When my baby had it at 3 weeks, I was sooo freaked out. Happy your kid is fine now. You can give it another week...just to be triple sure the torn membrane in the ear has 99%healed up. God bless!

I'm with MiracleMum on this one.

Lagos to Ghana is not Lagos to Cotonou. THAT journey is about 10hrs or so...if not more..and that is excluding travel within Lagos, immigration border wahala, and travel within Ghana. Even if she uses the most comfortable transport coy, the baby will still be stressed. A 6-week old baby is too young. If it was a private vehicle now, it's possible to put in a carry cot or a reclining car seat and also possible to avoid the germs and environmental pollution in a cramped-up bus. But even with a private car, I still would not advise anyone.

Madam, if you need a change of environment, there are many places in the west or within Lagos that you can go to. It is well with you.

To the person whose baby is stretching and grunting...

You can try a semi-hot water press. Just dip a towel in the water, and lightly press your baby's tummy. That helps release the trapped gas, and offers some comfort.

He is 6 months plus and started with dawa and millet pap I made, but he refused it after few day and started taking friso gold rice very well, until I bought cerelac two days ago.
So he has not had maize before. Makes it even more certain its an allergy.

Pls stop the multigrain cereal, and stick to the rice cereal. 'Tis Well.

Chinyeaka85:
Fellow mamas, pls answer my question. Am dead worried.
Seems it's an allergy.

Has he ever eaten any multigrain or maize cereal or anything containing maize before?

That's why they advise single grain cereals e.g rice cereal for the first 4-6weeks of transitioning to solids.

How old is he?

Thanks dear.but any suggestions on food to try?what about seven sea
Just keep trying everything. I'm still facing the same problem now. I just stick to the few things he willingly eats. I dont believe in seven seas or any other brand of cod liver oil at this age...but some people do....so you can try if you like.

As long as she is taking a good amount of milk...then half the problem is solved. When she turns 6 mths, you can introduce a variety of flavoured multigrain cereal.

Have really missed a lot.... Mothers pls respond..
My baby is 5 months but she is very slim nd doesn't eat well.she stopped breastfeeding on her own @ 4 months.i ve been giving abidec to no avail, what should I do.she takes cow nd gate rice, aptamil nd pap. Pls suggest food for me to give her.i even tried golden morn this morning which she took few spoons nd stopped.how good is seven seas?
Number 1, golden morn is not good at this age.

Number 2, welcome to the club. My son showed me pepe. It was battle every meal time. You just have to get what she likes and stick to it....and there are some times you will literally have to hold her down and stuff her mouth. Pele! As long as she is hitting her milestones, then no wahala.

Ferdie, i'm afraid they stated 12 months of visa lodgement here: http://www.border.gov.au/about/corporate/information/faqs/how-can-i-prove-i-have-functional-english

Thanks Bosslady, if she doesn't want to write any test, we may have to obtain a letter from her University, from which officer in particular, Registrar's office?
Yeap...that's what my husband submitted. You can get it from student affairs/registrar's office. But if your school take a lot of time in processing stuff, then better do PTE. You know how Naija schools can be unnecessarily slow.

Please does anyone know the cost of this second installment fee. I'm afraid my wife's IELTS is 18 months old. I can't seem to find the information on the new website
It's about 4k dollars or so. Let her get a letter from her uni stating she was taught in English.

If that is not available, she can do PTE and get her result in days.

It's not compulsory you give your baby any supplement. If your baby is breastfed and/or formula-fed, eating right, and has the right number of dirty/wet diapers....then all is well. People fail to realise you can actually overdose on vitamins. Excessive Vit a for example, is not good...can go terribly wrong in a child or pregnant woman's body.

My son took abidec, cos he wasnt a big eater. He is fine and healthy. My daughter hasnt taken any supplement since she was born...and she is as healthy as babies come. The only thing I have given her is paracetamol for immunisation fever.

My LOs hair is very hard hence it's usually a problem to comb it for her after bath since iv been doin the once a week washing (I use sebamed shampoo and Johnson conditioner). Pls what do I do. Thank u. Cc bossladymo1
Get a spray bottle. Mix water and olive oil/coconut oil/or any other natural hair oil in it. Then spritz the hair lightly.

If you don't have a spray bottle, just mix olive oil/coconut oil/or any other natural oil you have, with a bit of water, and rub on the hair.

Wait for about 3-5mins, then comb. The ratio of the oil-water should be 70:30. This will soften the hair.

Also....Johnson products are not really good on African skin, so I would assume their hair producta wont be any better. If you can get any other product, you should change. The Sebamed shampoo is a very good choice though. It is soap and alkali free.

Hi Bossladymo1, thanks for your contributions. I have someone who is willing to get to Australia, he is married with one kid, he is an electrical and electronic engineer, he has over 5 years of working experience in his field with telecom companies in Nigeria. He suddenly resigned and wants to move to Aussie, he contacted me but I sincerely have no idea of the process for his case. Pls any advice?
Why resign before getting the PR?

Oh well....

Tell the person to read through this thread. Much as been discussed about the PR process for Engineers.

pls enlighten me. so if i am bathing my baby, i should not use soap on her hair. i have been bathing her with duduosun and using ori for her from head to toe. please what is the name of the kiddies conditioner and the hair shampoo. her hair has started growing back and i really want it to be full and fluffy. wink grin kiss
How old is your baby? How do you prevent the Dudu Osun soap from entering her eyes?

You can get any good kiddies conditioner....check any supermarket or store around you. Then get a seperate kiddies shampoo, cos some are a combo of shampoo and conditioner.

If anyone is willing to try using a letter instead of an English test.....Apart from getting a hold of the school's letterhead, you can also just go to your school's student affairs dept, and request a Letter of Proficiency in English. They have a template they use. They will also type and stamp it for you.

Pls I really need to hear ur views about thz. Have some huddles to cross here about my work experience.
I did my nysc in a fed.organization in d agric dept.WHR I engage in theoretical and practical aspect of crops and livestock husbandry, But no payslip or tax records or whatsoever cos we are been paid in cash apart from allowiee from nysc.although i can get a reference letter from them and i still operate the account that NySC do send allowie too...and I need that 1yr to accumulate my year of experience.what can I do.
Secondly, immediately after nysc I started my own farm without any registration just normal raising layers for table eggs.and I did that for 15months before I got my present job. The issue is now what can I use to show for those experience.
Lastly,On my present job,I have my appointment letter stating my salary breakdown, requested for reference letter and payslip but to my surprise the HR said I won't be able to get a payslip of several months that they just upgraded to start using payslip last month, meanwhile our salary is been paid to our bank account. Really confused on what to do next. Its my 19months in the company.
Cc: Bossladymo.
Many people have had to miss out on claiming work experience points because of lack of enough evidence. Unfortunately, you will need to exclude the 'layers-raising' work experience. Then, as for the NYSC year...if you can get a letter from them, stating you were ppsted there by NYSC, that would help with the fact that they paid cash and no payslip, except allawi.

As for the 3rd coy, bank statements and reference letter is enough...even if all you have is a few payslips.

Thanks dear,I do apply ori but i noticed that her hair is very dry most times and i believe that pouring water on baby's hair makes them sleep better and longer so what happens if i dont wash her hair daily...just confused, @Bosslady please share more light on this.....Thanks
Washing the hair everyday dries out the hair....that's prolly why you can notice her hair being dry. Babies dont fix weavon, apply hair spray, serum and all those other things that make the hair dirty. Ori and olive oil are both natural....and almost everything is absorbed....so there is no waste residue.

Once again am still very surprised that I could secure my admission and visa without PTE, Pearson or any other of English test just ordinary letter covered everything.
It happens. Even newly arrived permanent residents are not required to do an English test, as long as they declare they have been taught in English at a tetiary level

Use Tax agent, even the agency fee is tax deductible. You will get your money back. It is always good to over estimate. It is like savings without interest. Sure, it is only when you lodge your tax return. You can get the money credited to your account within 1 week of lodging.
Yea....so i read on the ATO website. So does that mean they pay me back the entire tax agent fee or a percentage of it?

NNB2012 was spot on.

In addition, being your first tax return, I'll advise you use a tax agent (of Africa or Nigeria descent, if possible. If not, never mind). You can use this to learn the ropes.

In any case, since this is your first year working in Australia, you'll be having almost all your tax returned to you. Call me for the party when the money rains in. LOL
Hehehe!

*calculatingnumbersinmyhead* Na hama be dat o! lol....and that's excluding centrelink's own....ka ching!

Party at my house! Open bar!

We met one Nigerian tax accountant once...will contact him. Thanks!!

NNBB2012:
This article explains in details what you can and cannot claim during your tax return.

https://au.pfinance.yahoo.com/money-manager/tax/article/-/28528585/tax-returns-101/

I will advise you to use a tax agent to prepare your tax return for you. It is possible to get some money back from the government through your tax return and also possible to pay government back through your tax return. Your employer will send you your Group certificate, which shows actual gross paid to you and tax paid by you. Remember, you are expected to provide rough estimate of your income to centrelink and update it from time to time as your income changes. Usually centrelink pays your family tax benefit,child-care benefit etc. based on the income estimate provided. During tax return, ATO would compare actual with what you estimated in that financial year. The exact tax you were expected to pay would be calculated based on the figure they have with all tax deductibles been considered. One could end up paying back to the government or you could get some part of your tax back from government. I have never paid to the government before. I can assure you that you would probably get large chunk of your money back because of Tax threshold off-set which is 18,000plus. And considering that you earn for just few months in the just concluded financial year. If you have private health insurance, you would get your medicare levy back as well. Everybody pays medicare levy but those that don't benefit from it will get it refunded. I mean the international residents and also permanent residents with private health insurance.
Thanks bro. We have updated centrelink as required....I even over-estimated sef, so centrelink should paying us the arrears....but they said it is only after we lodge our tax return.

As per employing a tax agent...since our income is only from work, and we dont have any other income that complicates matters e.g Foreign income....does that not make it pretty straight forward if we lodge it ourselves? What do you think?
