On the contrary, JennyKadry actually preached against it. She broke it down cost by cost. If ypu can bring your tuition fees, then loving expenses are no wahala. Just my opinion tho.

You can work to feed and pay bills, but you can't work to pay your tuition. It's very hard combining both.

Last year. Paid 9k to send...can't remember how much I paid for issuance.

It was sent directly to VETASSESS, and VETASSESS semt me a soft copy when I needed it fpr the visa app itself...as UI could not find my transcript again despite it being issued just a few months earlier.

I finised from comp sci and turns out that the transcript office is now in my dept.I collected it in feb this year although I graduated since dec 2009.

Yea...records dept is temporarily in Computer Science dept. You're lucky they gave you yours.

Let me explain better. I never put it through to them that I have served. I only had my B.Eng result last year june. I didn't include anything as regards to service. I stated in my CV that I av been working since I graduated. in an IT company. I even included a reference letter from the IT company and is actually my cousins company. Sincerely speaking I am currently serving in delta state. So I never stated anything as regards to my service because I new I would still be in service den. That is the may dikoko.

Immigration officers know it is illegal for any company to employ you without you completing NYSC. They prolly added things up and suspected your reference letter might even be fake.

If evidence of you having a good job here in Naija is what guarantees you will come back, they have to scrutinise it well.

UI gave you your transcript by hand? Which year was that? I went to UI and they refused giving by hand...and this was just last year. Most unis don't give by hand.

Abi madam wan change me to geologist and the geologist to accountant lol. To your question, like the geologist said, all the assessing authorities usually give an estimate of their processing time and its to find out which is the fastest. But for any accountant that wish to pursue a career in accounting related field and hope to get a professionl certification in OZ, my advice will be to use CPA. CPA because they are well regarded in the market as least when compared to the other accounting bodies. Just a little edge but it may not always be the case. My 2 cent

I am not an accountant but currently processing that of my gf. We applied to have her Bsc Accounting assessed with ICAA in December but got a negative assessment because ICAN was not included (based on experiences of successful people on this thread). Now she has done her ICAN induction and we intend to re-assess though I am torn between reassessing with ICAA or going for CPA. The fees for IPA assessment seems the most expensive of the 3 though. However it is pertinent to note that CPA and ICAA HAVE CHANGED THEIR COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS as recently as a couple of days ago and takes effect from July 1. In terms of speed, CPA seems to be the fastest and takes about 10-15 working days (according to their website), IPA takes about 4-6weeks while ICAA takes about 4 - 8weeks.

Also with ICAA you do not have to submit hardcopies like the other 2 bodies. Scanned certified copies are sufficient

As at now, the best is to go see whoever is in charge and see if a payment plan can be set up. Setting up a payment plan in this country is quite common, so I'm sure if they can do that for you, they will. The only snag here is that she is an int'l student.

Management Accountant. Yes, I think the person should qualify. S/he should provide the syllabi for both the B.Sc Accounting and Masters in Finance.

Though all the assessing bodies have similar assessment method, CPA, I read somewhere, is notorious for giving negative assessment because of Accounting Theory. Your friend could nominate External Auditor; it does not require Accounting Theory.

Don't know much about IPA. CPA is faster than ICAA. ICAA takes 2 months, while CPA takes about a month. I got assessed by ICAA using my ICAN qualification and was assessed positively.

Either of CPA or ICAA is fine. Your friend would have to provide his/her course syllabus showing contents that cover at least 9 of the 12 core knowledge areas. The knowledge areas can be found on the websites of the assessing bodies.

Which occupation did you assess for? I keep seeing people getting a negative assessment cos of Accounting Theory. Do you think someone with Masters in Finance plis BSc Accounting would qualify?

I recently did an inquiry about the assessments for accountants for a friend... What I gathered (I may be wrong) was that icaa was for chartered accountants, ipa seemed easy to pull thru, and it doesn't take too long. I think they publish average waiting times on their website

So IPA is a better deal yea? Do you know if they need to submit employment experience as well, or can an assessment of qualifications alone be done? Someone I know wants to start the process. He doeant have ICAN tho, but has a Masters degree in Finance...BSc Accounting.
