Politics / Re: Can Ebira Man Ever Taste The Post Of Presidency In Nigeria? by boyscout: 9:47am On Feb 25, 2009 |
darqly: LOL. The fact that you have some lucky ones that rose to the peak of their careers and some bright one is not an exclusive right. Hypothetical your question may be but the colour of skin or tribe should not be yard stick. I bet, if you ever get Anebira that aside trying to associate with him as your tribes man there will be nothing else you will have to show for it. So please let us move pass this, if language were the criteria in countries like USA, Obama we all celebrate would not have in the first place make it beyond Harvard. So if an Ebira wants to aspire on his individual qualities let him feel free to do that. But if he is going to bank on his tribe, let him just pass because he will not get to Meme bridge and MM bridge will be too far a distance to cover. On the issue of Ebiramen Association, well food for thought Put your house in order. |
Politics / Re: Ribadu Dragged Out Of NIPSS Graduation And Arrested by boyscout: 12:22pm On Nov 24, 2008 |
@ landis I cant believe you are celebrating the triumphs of evil over good. Even in America where all the mighty FBI with so much capital votes and well trained human resources have not been able to arrest all criminals in their country. But at all times are being commended for helping to reduce it. Same here with Ribadu, he may not have arrested all corrupt persons but during his tenure as the boss of EFCC, the fear of him is the beginning of wisdom for all corrupt persons. Despite all said, we cannot for once point at an innocent person arrested and charged by Ribadu. With the resources available he discharged his duty very well. This has just shown us that the cabal that hold sway in this country are not done yet. I bet it will be difficult now to tell anybody working anywhere to be just.Being just in this country has high price. The contrast between him and Prof Akunyili is that the victims of NAFDAC did not foot Yaradua election bills or otherwise she will have been in jail by now. Remember when she went after pure water in Ibadan, Late Adedibu barked and she backed down. In Ribadu's case when he went to the Senate to point accusing fingers he was caution by Obj ob his return, immediately Yaradua came he went after the well known public officers that enriched themselves. They promised to 1.Remove him from EFCC. 2.Demote and disgrace him. 3.Dismiss him from police force and 4.Subsequently jail him. 1 & 2 have been carried out,3 could soon be on its way as Okiro led Police force wants him to be punished for going to court to question abuse of his fundamental human right. If 3 comes to be then soon he shall be an inmate as Nwude's allegation will be the willing vehicle to take him to Kirikiri or Kubwa. Shame Evil men have taken over our land. |

maxsiollun: Your write up is very educative I must say. I just hope your source is impeccable. From this link he has a chequered history. I an not but help have a rethink of what I have heard of him and what other roles some other persons played. Thumbs up for this contribution. lacrimose: Obj dotted the lines when he was in charge he could have undone that which he did. Am sure at that level, there are things we may like to see otherwise that are not so. I think passing it to Yaradua/Yaradull to undo will be asking for too much. Anyway since there are benefits from the association to give intrest free loans and in view of the economic melt down in the west, the OIC may come in handy to bail us out in searching for funds to actualize our 20-20 dream - Its obvious we do need to increase the presence of foreign investments to get there. |
Politics / Re: Greatest Nigerian War General Of All Time by boyscout: 1:34pm On Oct 24, 2008 |
ife-eco-06: Please verify the role the two GEnerals Obj and Akinrinade played. From the excerpts of interview granted by Gen Danjuma, and a film about the killing of a black President, Gen Obj's where about at that time was not known. This has led to some theorist insinuating he was privy of the coup. All document showed Gen Danjuma And Col. IBB as the Soldiers that foiled the coup - IBB dislodged Col. Dimka from Radio House with out a Shot. Gen.Bisalla's role was revealed by Col.Dimka during interrogation. That is not to say that Gen OBJ's performance during the civil makes him less a soldier. Indeed he is a General. On the issue I think I have reservations on the List so far. As some of the Generals refereed to actually forced their way into governance with their guns and boot. Since that is not the terrain to access good war general vs civil populace. Also for those that fought during the Civil War;Gen Adekunle,Gen ObJ,Gen Murtala among others, should not qualify as we did not fight our "enemies". Brothers do not fight and one tries to brag about how skillfull you are. And for the likes Gen Aguyi Ironsi- Congo war:Gen Victor Malu,Gen Dongoryaro,Gen Shelpidi all Ecomog. Gen Martin Luther Agwai- Sudan. This are people that fit into the war Generals Group then let the greatest be picked. 1 Like 2 Shares |

@Darefestus @Boyscout What do you mean by paying Ikemba his dues! I owe him no respect - He might be famous amongst the Igbo's but to me He was a coward! Thank God i wasn't born when he led the revolt. The man is a Psychopath. Are you really mad at Ikemba, The Dim himself , Ezegburuburu. Haba go back to History from His days in Kings you will reckon the man had a date with history and fulfilled it. Honestly I am getting to see that you admire him more than many of us. Possibly pride will not allow you admit it. Anyway I like your style. |

@ nuzo Nice one. For that little faith many still have about Nigeria I should think soon we all will exploit that which we have in common and find strength in that. For our well known differences that will be difficult to change but I think we can manage it. @ many I think the topic is about the Ikemba role during the war and how he discharged his duty. And the opinion should be on whether we can Judge him a hero or not. Definitely divergent views will be expected. On the war itself from its genesis to the end, am sure every person will try and justify the roletheir section of the country played at one time or the other. War like chess is a game. Unfortunately we all are pawns and victims the tension built by the politicians and men at the corridors of power with alot of intrigues led to the war. Unfortunately the scar of the war is still visible. Hey what is all this shout about My father's house is bigger than your's? Can we try I am bigger than you? All this stories of my kins achievement helps no one, because those we take pride in trying to be associated with see quite less of our persons in most case(with few exceptions). So please let us analyse the topic :Is Ojukwu A War Hero Or A Coward ? |

@poster [s]I should have said that you are not far from being a fool because it takes a fool to turn a blind eye and offer advise against name calling without getting to the root of the problem. I told you that one of the strategies was to annul the 2007 Presidential Election and you are asking for strategy.[/s] I beg to see how your highly placed source thinks that the nullification will help see power remain in the north and prevent other region from taking their turn. If annulled and Yaradua loses , who ever comes in will have four years and probably rig for another four but at the end of the tenure it will move south ward. The impression you created was to make it exclusively a northern thing. By the way this cospiracy theory post you have decided to make a name calling match says a whole lot about you intellectual capability and your tolerance for divergent view. Hey do not stop. Haul another name. I do be disappointed if you let this go. |

@ darefestus I advise you read in between the line the thread from Kiwi992. You will discover that your hands will be forced to do something you find yourself in such positions Not trying to justify the war or the killings. But when the situation demanded a decisive action, The IKEMBA stood up. the greatest battles were won without war and bloodshed On this quote please educate me more and show me unambiguous example. |
Politics / Re: Is Ojukwu A War Hero Or A Coward ! by boyscout: 2:27pm On Oct 17, 2008 |
What did he start? The war itself. We all have read what happened after the first coup failed and befell Aguyi Ironsi. It was a military era and and was the most Senior Igbo officer and when the fate of the nation at that level comes up for discuss he should be able to present a view that will not alienate his tribe. Igbos were returning home not welcomed in many places and it was quite obvious something was wrong. Even if had thought otherwise then, the prevailing situation encouraged it. and if you had read his book WHY I WAS INVOLVED you do know that he felt he was boxed to a corner. Like a humble sheep who does not have anywhere to run to he had to fight and they fought. Yes the war is over leaving so much scar. Many remember it with nausea. I think the question of him been judged a HERO stemmed out of the fact that as at the time there was need for decisive leadership in Igbo history ,he provided Igbos leadership. As I said other tribes may judge otherwise as a Hero at home could be view as a Villain abroad. |
Politics / Re: Northerners Strategy To Rule Nigeria Beyond 2015 Exposed by boyscout: 1:27pm On Oct 17, 2008 |
@poster I think we all should hail you for this info which leaves more question than answers. This sounds more like conspiracy theory. It will be more desirable to present the topic as a debate on the chances of the north trying to continue beyond 2015 than making it sound like a fool proof plan. Even attempts to make it sound concrete by referring to a relation of a high placed source is watery. In other for some of us to make more meaning out of this please do let us know what some this strategy are and how well will this be carried out. As for Buhari and Atiku been asked to step down, I think for sure the main reason is that since Yaradua is a northerner and a fellow Muslim they should see his presidency and their loss as destiny(a funny way to convince someone you do say). I do like you to explain further, Advice: You are suppose to be a gentleman name calling fetch no good. |
Politics / Re: Is Ojukwu A War Hero Or A Coward ! by boyscout: 1:13pm On Oct 17, 2008 |
Looking back at events that produced Ojukwu, I do say that , the IKEMBA is a hero of the Igbos. At that particular point in time when leadership was sought he lived up to the challenge even though he was not prepared for it he did play out his role quite well. For other tribes may view him differently as well judge him. But I do say when we remove the tribal toga from him and try to access him as a man, HE STANDS TALL. Given similar situation many will have walked away. Though the bruises and the immediate cause of the civil war is another tale for another day. |
Politics / Re: Newly Created Ministry Of Niger Delta A Secret Step To Scrap NDDC by boyscout: 2:47pm On Sep 12, 2008 |
I think NDDC may still remain. Possible the bureaucratic structure will be similar to Ministry of Federal Capital Territory (MFCT) and Federal Capital Development Authority(FCDA). That said, with two ministers (Which I expect to be from Niger Delta State-one which must be a technocrat and the other a politician), I think appreciable development will be seen though it will still leave room for more. Besides if the Niger Delta masterplan become a working document for the ministry then I think the neglect will have be addressed. But, this is Naija where personal intrest over ride collective ones. Some people will surely try to mess things or slow it down as reports has shown many some people are benefiting from the crises so will want status quo. So since Yaradua has come this far, then I urge him to go further to make the ministry work and deliver otherwise it will be seen as cosmetic dressing. |

Mpele: Quite easy for you to exonerate your country from this yet you will at your convenient want to see South Africa lead Africa. This one thing you will not find in Nigeria and the more reason why many African nation will pitch tent with Nigeria if it becomes African Affair. Judging from you analysis, Nigeria does not need to launch smear campaign against SA: the facts are obvious, the 6 Magreb state will go with Egypt and, obviously,14 SADC states will support South Africa definitely Nigeria can count on the remaining of the 53 African Union member states (France with recent overtures made to them business wise will support Nigeria and make the Francophone countries do the same) because when it come to Africa, Nigeria is actually more African. History has shown that Egypt has its major foreign policy thrust outside Africa, while South Africa say for Zimbabwe has shown less commitment to Africa. If GDP, business are the major yardstick as you analysed, the Japan should have been a member. And looking at the forces outside the shore of Africa, Egypt will not enjoy much support basically for being an Arab state. So SA and Nigeria will have a face off, Our track record has shown that we are our brothers keeper and with our population (even if inflated) holds potential market for the Chinese goods, our oil will sure make the French happy as well as boost China's reserve, and our Power Project will see Germany slow the recession EU predicted. The Soviets , Yes the soviet we hand them the Steel Company. Then Uncle Sam with the request for A base in African which obviously we have slowed down, will be willing to trade that with us and give us support. With Britain as our traditional ally they will go all the way with us otherwise Shell will have to find drilling rights in SA. And SA, Haba, for all we did for them:even experimenting with African power to save them from the shackles of apartheid they will surely have to tone down their moves. For all the rhetoric's, I do not really see the UNSC expansion coming to light as status quo will be in the intrest of the present members who could and one of them will surely veto expansion. |
Politics / Re: The Politrik Of Babagana Kingibe's Exit As Sgf. by boyscout: 9:20am On Sep 11, 2008 |
Food for thought. But that is not feasible. There are many gladiators waiting. I do not think the Kingibe of today has so much goodwill across board to pull such feat. He was only ambitious and that caught up with him. The forces presently controlling the polity from retired Generals to PDP Governor will not be disposed to such idea. He is not one of them. Well as we had seen in the past, the system will find a way to keep him afloat. |
Politics / Re: Jubilation In Maiduguri Over Kingibe's Sack by boyscout: 8:51am On Sep 11, 2008 |
Kingibe is a Muslim. remember when he was Abiola's running mate it was tagged Muslim- Muslim ticket. The jubilation is more about the political difference between the government of the day in Borno and himself. prior to now he had no serious structure of his so till he was relieved of his position he influenced many decision in the state chapter of the PDP that he was not a founding member. Across boards in the state I will say he was seen as a man whose time in politics were far spent. So the jubilation of this will be welcomed within that state political circle. @Deepzone How you dey? Long time. |

Jakumo: Jakumo, You raised a good point. Many exploit the religion to help find succour in situations that are actually man inflicted. If all were done properly at least even if he will die on the said date, probably it will not be as a result of generator fire. It is quite worrying that a whole lot of situation would have been better handled proactively but due to the ineptitude leadership, social amenities have been found wanting and in no distace future when preventable calamities happen we tend to drop it at God's door step so that we can move away quickly, forgeting that if we had done our bit in the whole game plan we all will be better off. Though I do have concern about the relevance of the Abacha story to this? You lost the objectivity of your post there. |

Sooner than later names calling will go on here and the tribal sentiment will rear its head. Just imagine unprintable name that will be called our leaders on both side of the divide. Since you are not biological offspring of that from your region it will not hurt you. Just imagine if this were about your Parents, will you allow people to diss them? of course not. You sure know how to make peole angry. If this is your blessing, then your day will soon be here Take a look at all the hate post you paste here? You initiate all but wrong things. @Deepzone(Funmi), Wake up. You do not get to lead a nation with talks like this. I guess you all know what led to the holocaust. It was spread of hatred for the Jews. Before Hitler lead Germany there were complain that the Jews were the problems of the Nazis or white supremacist. Not long after, the idea of wiping them out as conceived and the rest is in our history books. Same here for now as you have constantly spread nothing but hatred and subtlety you are drawing innocent one into it as you either force them to take side with you or his/her own with prejudice. Judge a man for who he is not the colour of his skin. Your present indoctrination crusade will leave less to be desired. As humans we do have our short comings. If you are a good student of history you do understand that power of dominance is transient and has moved across the globe from the Greeks to present America possibly heading towards China. In our own little conclaves we do have similar things. Check out Delta State for one, where there are cries of Urhobo Dominance,Kogi - Igala,Benue - Tiv, Adamawa - Fulani, Ogun where all others against the Yewas. ( I do not want to justify the dominance but its always there. You can take a close look at your people and you will be able to zero this in) Division will not do this nation any good. I will urge you to honestly look at your tribe the Yoruba and tell me you have no corruption.Put into consideration those that served in power and those that had friends in office and benefited from Government policies. Could there be more to this attitude of yours than just you want us to see? If its personal ,please square up with the individual and stop generalizing. Across the divides you have good persons and bad ones. Omo Iya wake up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Politics / Re: The North & Nairaland by boyscout: 4:37pm On Sep 04, 2008 |
@nuzo I think all Ishmael wants you to know is you do not come for equity with dirts. Corruption in what ever guys is found in all tribes, creeds and faith. So before you point at one tribe look at your tribe.get satisfied that you that have one to point at then say loud that the other tribe is corrupt. In a better way maybe point at individual and personalities involve without trying to rub it on the guy who benefit from next to nothing from the loots of his/her kins. So since you have an aboki as a friend then I beg of you to tone down the tribal sentiment and lets say it squarely with the crusade, we all will be better of. The elites of both divides wishes all themselves well.Work on our sentiments and use us as pawns and by the end of the day they dine and wine together coming out smiling and shaking hands. |

@nuzo Abeg, the topic is about MM. Exactly, so since the accusation against him cannot be sustained then we should let the man rest in peace. Within a short rule there was a dramatic change and he was applauded for it. As for this other guys mentioned we all know their case and that they are from one tribe or faith should not be a criteria for exempting them. Corruption or Misrule no be birth right of any group. If you wan hit on the guy ,pursure am as human being not where the guy come from.coz na dis kind thing make nazis follow Jews Biko. Cool temper. |
Politics / Re: The North & Nairaland by boyscout: 2:40pm On Sep 04, 2008 |
@Ishmael Your list is very brief If this is all we have then I wonder where the whole cry of corruption is coming from. Though I know not your source but I do say this only reflects those that served in the Obj administration. @nuzo I agree with you that Ribadu did make such accusation but as at the last check Yerima was never called for questioning Even though a serving Sentor now and never fled the country. If we look at it very well there were those that enriched themselves from the coffers of the government and others had policies mapped for them to get things done fast enough. I know for sure that corruption in what ever name cuts across all tribes and faith. |

Nigeria1@;: Let us say this for sure. Abacha was said to have done all the necessary frame work for GSM operations. The Glory of the GSM revolutions today goes to Obj for sure because he saw to it happening. If its true that MM applied as it the time it was granted he had passed to the beyond then Oga Obj accepted. And signed all the necessary papers. Oga Nigeria! am quite sure with from the archives of your satellite images you will for sure be able to see it was Obj that lead us there. No offense meant. My point here is leave MM alone efforts to Vilify him will draw no empathy. Let us stick to IBB,Abacha and Abdulsalam bashing if the Presidents of Northern extractions are your targets. Wait O!!!!!!!!!!!! Nigeria1 hope your beef against MM has nothing to do with relocation of the Federal Capital to Abj from Lag. Well am sure if your memo arrived on schedule Justice Aguda would have helped to make sure your articulated points supported with the satellite images are treated accordingly |
