I see. Let's start. To sell yourself, talk very briefly on your BSc as it isn't of relevance to your future course. You could say you chose Physics because it was the course available at the time, but what you've always wanted was Health Information. You could then go on to state why you love Health Information Management (HIM) - be concise and straight to the point, no beating about the bush, no love stories. This is where your stint at the Paediatric hospital comes in; you could say you just couldn't leave HIM, so the first opportunity you got to work in that role, you took it at so and so paediatric hospital. When you left the job, you took this current one at so and so hospital doing all these you mentioned. Don't just mention them, outline and explain them, go into details of what they entail. But remember, be concise. Only the relevant details matter. Then you say why you chose Canada to pursue it instead of Nigeria, why you chose that school also. For what you'll do with the course when you return, you could include in your writing that Nigeria doesn't do proper collation of data, this includes health data and statistical analysis. This course could help you do that, also analyse these data and aid tremendously in proffer solutions; this would be done by the medical doctors. PS: If you decide to use what I have written, please use them in your own words, so one VO looking through this thread won't see my words in your application Good luck nochyks87: I have a Bsc in Industrial Physics. The job role at the previous job was Health Records officer. My intended course is Health information Management. What am doing at my current employment has to do with 1)Acquiring, analysing and updating patients health information for clinical study by medical students. 2)Management of the college of Medicine database as well as keeping records of the computer lab supplies and equipment. 3)Coding of different diseases into various classifications to aid research into epidemiology and clinical analysis. |

Why do you want to introduce that previous job? Would its introduction aid the approval of your visa? Is there a link between that job and your current study plan? nochyks87: Morning wonderful people. In the case of a re-application, how do I introduce a previous job( paediatric clinic) that I had as an intern for a year and a full employee for a year before moving to my current job. I tried getting a reference before my first app but they didn't give me. Now they have decided to write me one whenever am ready. Thanks for your anticipated input. @frankrobbn,mcobex,bracha,qudkom and co... |

I am saying TRY to connect them, because unlike for the US visa where you would get interviewed, you don't get an interview for Canada visa, so that SOP is your explanation. From what I've seen on the US thread, you can switch courses from undergraduate to MSc., but for Canada, it might be harder. They most likely would think you're trying to be an economic migrant. That's why that explanation/link is key. BUT, if one can't find a correlation between both courses, I suggest one uses passion. Explain how that new course is your passion, you could even say you had to do the undergrad course because it was the closest to your passion at the time of seeking admission. This then leads to 'why have you chosen Canada to pursue this passion?', you can then say 'the curriculum for the course in Nigeria isn't as extensive as it is at the university you chose in Canada', you go ahead to buttress your point by giving examples of available courses, their objectives and what you stand to gain after going through the courses. OR 'the course isn't even available in Nigeria (this has to be a verifiable truth). These are just examples, I think there are many more reasons. Good luck. Purplestorm: Hi thanks so much for your contributions, are you saying for example if i studied law and intend to go for a Grad. diploma in Educational leadership I must connect my Ist degree and the grad. diploma. |

1. I don't know about this because when I applied, I paid a part of my tuition, so I'm not the right person to answer this. Qudkom knows this better. 2. Yes, please provide your bank statement. Do you work? If you do, please provide your bank statement and a copy of something to show your work. BrainyBrainer: To the experienced people here, pls I'm on the verge of submitting my study permit application. I have a close tie sponsor(my brother) with sufficient fund for my masters application. My questions are: (1) If it makes any difference that he transfers the money into my account or it may remain in his account while I only present his bank statement. (2) since I am being sponsored, is it necessary that I provide my bank account statement too?
Pls your authoritative replies are highly appreciated. |

I don't know if you've been told this but I'll say it all the same: your SOP should show a clear correlation between international relations and human rights, even if it means using a whole paragraph to explain it, please do. You may see the correlation, but someone else (read VO) may not do so, so please explain well, be straight to the point and concise. Also, your SOP should state what you intend to do with the degree in Nigeria. Not something like I want to establish an NGO, but something like "with so and so courses in this degree I'll have the knowledge of so and so, which would help me do so and so because in Nigeria, the respect of human right is still _____". Good luck. wynie: Hi everyone good evening, I’ve been following this thread for quite a while now and only decided to post now because I’m in a dilemma. So I got admitted to U OF M for a masters in human rights, I’m an International Relations graduate by the way, attached to this admission I got $10,000 scholarship and I’m about to submit my visa application since I’m suppose to resume this September, just found out yesterday. I’m confused on what method of application to do, whether online or paper cos I feel like the online application might take time. I’ve worked on all the things I need SOP POLICE CHARACTER CERTIFICATE BANK STATEMENT (getting it on Tuesday) EMPLOYMENT DETAILS MY MOMS LANDED DOCUMENTS (she’s also my sponsor) BIRTH CERTIFICATE SHOWING I AND MY MOMS RELATIONSHIP BECAUSE SHE CHANGED HER NAME AFTER MY DAD DIED I really need y’alls advice on which way to go because if I miss this opportunity (hopefully not) I would be hurt beyond words Can’t defer cos the program is a September intake only and scholarship is only valid for fall 2019 so I have to leave in September and I also forgot to mention it’s a new program and department we are the first ones. Thank you |

Here is my opinion on this: I believe you could get the visa, BUT you'd need to explain the 6 years gap convincingly, if you don't include in your SOP that you're currently in your second year at a university here. If you do include the info about being already enrolled in Nigeria, you'd have to explain why you're choosing Canada which is much more expensive, and believe me a strong excuse would have to be used here, one very convincing to sway the VO. Either way it's up to you to decide to finish here or not. If you do decide to go for the undergraduate, you'll need to send your WAEC transcripts/certificate. chrizdave: Hello bosses in the house. Help a guy in a delima. Thumbs up to the good works going on here. I have been following the thread since part 14.. the situation on ground is I am in 200l in a Nigerian university for a 5-year course. I am thinking of getting a study visa for an undergraduate program or finish up over here and go for masters....and I discovered transcripts would be required. If I am applying for an undergrad program, what transcript would I send. I finished sef school 2013...in early 20’s
Please drop a bit of advice. It wld be highly appreciated. @bracha @optimusprime21 @frankrobbn1 |

Is this 5m after school fees payment or before? If it's before it is low. Even if it is after payment, it could still be low because you're meant to have tuition +10,000cad. I just checked and 5m is low after and before payment. Here is why I think so: if your sponsor has just 5m and you pay 4.9m just for fees, what happens to living expenses? What would the sponsor survive on? If it's 5m after payment, living expenses is give or take 2.7m, leaving 2.3m for the sponsor, do they have children? How would they cater for their children? If they don't have any other dependents, okay. But I still feel that amount is low. writefreely: Hello house, just a quick question for our very helpful gurus here: what is the minimum amount needed in one's sponsor' statement of account. Someone who claims to know says #5 million for a one year program but I personally think it's not enough. Am I wrong? Please kindly answer only if you are very sure.
*fees is about 18500 CAD |

LOL. So, lemme explain what I wrote so you'll understand better. Even if you flew them and they treated you like a king, there are others who didn't have that treatment. From my Internet searches since 2018, I've seen more bad reviews about them than good. This has led me to conclude that I won't recommend them. Whatever your experience, while it is valid, it's not the general consensus. I have a right to make a decision, while you also have a right to do so. If someone asks me about that airline, I'll give them all the experiences and data I have collated, thereby leaving the choice to them. Please understand this and don't try to be insulting with your "be saying English". That is really low for you, and it doesn't look good on you. Cheers. sleekysoft: Lmao be saying English I am telling you something based in being a flyer Left Lagos 6am with air Maroc no flight delay landed in Morocco 11am , was taken to a lounge given free food and even internet with a bed to sleep/rest, next flight took off 5 pm which I almost missed cosbi was so comfy at lounge.. 7hour enroute Montreal and I was treated nicely.. find pictures below l |

Seeing as the only relevant reason given was purpose of visit, I'll assume there wasn't a clear study plan or the explanation wasn't convincing enough. I'd say you still need to write a good SOP, because that's the only way they know your plans. Speak to Frankrobbn1 and or Qudkom and ask them to help you with the SOP. They're really busy tho. Here is what happened to me, sometime ago, someone wanted a phone number for someone who sold winter wears, I had gotten the number from someone on nairaland, so I posted it here. Came back the next day, and it had disappeared. I just sent it privately to the individual. My experience has made me think the highlighted statement may not always be true for nairaland. I don't really know how these things work, so I'd prefer to err on the side of caution. 95seun: Based on your profile, while waiting for your GCMS I think you should seek out a couple experienced eyes on the thread and plead with them to go over your statement of purpose or better still provide you with pointers to improve your SOP. If I were playing devils advicate, I would wonder why you are not pursing a bachelors degree since you obviously have the funds available for that based on the fact that you’ve paid the college fees.
Also I think it’s counterproductive to the helpful nature of the thread that people don’t post links of services that have helped them in the past. Posting a link you are in no way affiliated with is different from rule number 6. Suggesting a website you’ve used in the past with favourable experience which you can translate into a teaching experience saves more time and is a better teaching/learning experience than telling one to look on internet at the numerous options / going back and forth over messages and that is different from promoting a website that you are affiliated with. But anyway, what do I know. |
