Hello,

Please consider a deferment, so that the school fees doesn't go to waste. 6th is next week. Also, please pray - if you believe in prayers - nothing is impossible for God.

Good luck.

phadexzhi01:
Good day everyone, I have been following this thread for almost a month now , I really appreciate you all for the contributions, insights and encouragement you have been giving us applicants over the passed few weeks.
I have an admission for a graduate certificate course at Algonquin College for winter 2020, which starts on the 6th of January. I paid my first semester fees and applied for a Canadian study permit nov 05, I didn’t get the biometrics instruction letter until the 19th of Nov. since then I haven’t gotten any updates on my dashboard, I haven’t been asked to give medicals. I am really panicking because jan 06 is less than 2weeks away and I don’t know my fate yet.
Gurus, I need advice on what to do and I want to know if I still stand a chance of getting an approval and starting school next month.
My Agent is suggesting I consider deferring my admission to September 2020. I wouldn’t want this because I have put a lot of effort into achieving Jan.
All responses will be appreciated, thank you.

Hello,

So we literally cannot tell you what is going on, only the visa office handling your application can. Send them an email and or a case specific enquiry to that effect.

Good luck.

I don't know if it's possible. But, speak to your school about that. They have the final say, not us.

Cheers.

Hello,

For this question, there's no proper answer.

You have to consider the cost of child care in whatever province you'll be going to. Will you be able to foot that bill monthly? Coupled with your school fees, rent, and other bills. People gave applied with their children and received the visa, so that isn't an issue.

I don't know if I explained it in a way you'll understand lol

Good luck.

iffyibeh:
Pls I want to seek ur opinion on whether it's advisable to apply for a study Visa with my last child at the same time(1yr old )i wish to leave the older two with in care of their father and my mother.i don't want a scenario where I'd get Visa and might not be successful securing visiting for my infant. I can't concentrate without him abroad and at same time I don't want to risk refusal because of him.

Open cic.gc.ca, scroll down to the end of the page, click on "contact", when that page opens, click on 'send case specific enquiry', then click 'tell us more'. Follow the prompts from there onwards.

Good luck.

NairaLuck:
Hello everyone.
I have a question.
I'm an HND graduate I intend to apply to a College for a 2yrs PG diploma in Canada (ON province) although I'm have checked German schools all saying I must start from Scratch for Bachelors.

Since HND isn't recognized by most Canadian Universities someone suggested I apply to a college for a 2yrs PG Diploma in same Field of study for my HND which will fetch me 3yrs PGW Permit then I can continue my immigration process and settle then after some years when I'm able to save up I can pursue my Masters if I want to.

My quest is What are my prospects through this Route to Canada?
Is this route feasible?

Any further advice to help me take the right steps?

Lastly, Although I have not applied to any college I intend to Leave in 2020. Is it possible to apply and leave same year?
Fund's ready.

Thanks NL

Hi,

Thanks for the compliment, if I can call it that. About sending me your SOP, I cannot promise that I will review it on time, as I am pretty busy right now. But, I will eventually make time for it, I just do not know when.

I hope you understand.

Sorry that I cannot be of more help to you.

Cheers.

Hello Bracha, I must say I gained a lot of insight from your professionally blunt critique of the SOP. I am just starting this journey as I
just gained admission to MCIT, Quebec. Kindly permit me to defer to you once I'm done with my SOP so that you can give it a once over. Thank you in anticipation.

Hi,

I don't know if someone else has responded. I suggest you go with either a paper copy of your bank statement or an e-copy. Most students are being asked for this at immigration, especially undergraduate students.

Good luck

Good morning everyone,

It has been a while. How's everyone doing? Hope we're all OK and praying too ☺. Congratulations to those who got their TRVs and also to those who are yet to receive it, it will end in praise.

I got into Canada this past Thursday. PoE was smooth.

Here is a bit of what I can remember

CBSA agent: please give me your acceptance letter and proof of payment
Me: handed them over to her.

CBSA Agent: what are you going for
Me: MELS at Brandon University, Manitoba.

Agent: how do you intend to pay the rest
Me: my uncle will be paying for it. Also I have a TA position at the school.

Agent: what does your uncle do?
Me: I don't really know but just know he lives here, don't know what he does too.

Agent: that's rather weird. That you don't know all these. How then has he been helping.
Me: he's been helping since back home in Nigeria.

Agent: OK.

Agent: will the TA stipend be enough to take care of the rest?
Me: yes it would.

Agent: OK.

Agent: please wait. Then she goes to print the study permit. Then comes back. She hands it to me

Me: please will this allow me work off campus?
Agent: yes.
Me: thank you.

Agent: just go through there.
Me: thanks.

I told her I didn't have the statement of account and she said no problem. She didn't need that.

I had an apple watch with me, my brother wanted me to change the screen for him. Nothing was asked of me there.
But at the Agricultural section (the people you submit the declaration form to for them to mark), they asked if I had seeds and other stuff, I said yes. I even ticked it on the declaration form. They said okay, no problem. I also ticked that I had unaccompanied goods (goods to follow, which is my bag that contains my food items).

Note:
Bring food o, as in traditional food - Ogbono, Egusi, Oha, efo etc. Leave meat and milk/milk-containing food items. Just bring food items - indomie o, spaghetti o, so long as your bag no pass your weight allowance, just bring. Whatever you bring, please declare them on the card. Answer questions with confidence and then continue praying so they don't find anything amiss.
Carry blanket too if you can. Canada is very very very very cold (see as the 'very' long eh, it doesn't even begin to explain how cold it is).

Also, get thermal clothing for the cold. Buy bathroom slippers too. Buy shoes o - for women, buy walking shoes (see pictures, these pictures are just examples of what you need), leave those normal women shoes, they won't give you any protection at all.

I changed some of my money at the Bureau dé Change downstairs (at the arrival section). CAD costs 286 there instead of 290 upstairs and in other places.

I forgot my bag of food items so now I need someone to please bring it for me. Anyone coming to Canada in the coming days? I will pay to have it sent to Brandon from wherever you are. Pleaseeeeeee.

Ayodeji786, Blema111, Martinomi, congrats. Also I Ayodeji and Blema111 please I need either of you's help with the bag because you guys will be coming to provinces close to mine. Abeg

Also don't forget winter boots and jackets o

A transit visa will be needed because you'll be moving between two Schengen airports. For further clarification, please check the Lufthansa airline website or better still, call their Nigerian numbers.

Good morning Claire18, I have some questions for you. Please pardon my forward essay ☺.
1. About the nylon you used to package your foodstuffs, what is it called? Where can it be gotten?
2. Also, can i use ziplock bags for the foodstuff? What do you think?
3. Did you put your toiletries and creams in a ziplock bag or in any nylon at all?

Thank you.

Hello,

That letter cannot suffice. SmallerB you have to pester them for the letter of introduction. If by Monday it still hasn't reflected in your MyCic account, send them a screenshot of what it looks like, so they have proof.

Pester them please, that letter is very important.

Cheers.

raymege:
They probably are having technical issues, it may drop, if not, then simply print the letter they just sent you as they instructed.
This letter they just sent should suffice.

Congratulations.

Thank you so much for this detailed explanation.

Claire18:
I came in with ogbono n egusi ungrinded. The grinded one reduces its flavour n potency, esp for Ogbono. There will surely be a grinder for it. Both mechanical and electric. Then, my Ogiri was in white plastic cups that look like Relaxer I couldn't transfer to a transparent one cos it could sour. I just labelled it "Fermented oil seeds. Then also put a tag " Flavouring" just in case an officer opens it and thinks its rotten. If possible, put all in transparent cups and bags.

Hello,

Thank you so much for your landing gist, I found the tips and the pictures really helpful.

I have some questions for you, please indulge me as I be jjc lol

Did you travel with Egusi, Ogbọlọ, dawadawa/ògiri opeyi?

If you did, did you grind them here before going?

If you didn't grind them here, how do you intend doing so there? Are there blenders that can do the job as well as the grinders we use here?

Thanks.

Claire18:
Landing gist

So our trip ( I and my Husband) was booked 100 days before…now it was the d-day July 17th 2019. We had intentions to cargo, then later changed our minds to go with 4 boxes 23kg, by the time I had packed in the foodstuffs, I was 3 boxes full, with the 4th box half full with foodstuffs. I had to let go of the foods and pack some clothes, shoes, mini blanket, personal care items etc. I used the generic some list provided on the tread then added other foodstuffs that I love as an Oriaku. Ugba, Abacha, Ogiri, Ukwa etc . The Ukwa weight no b small, I had two bags, had to forfeit one and schedule for Cargo. I learnt that my Cargo can come much later, even after 3 months, so far the invoice was stamped. This made sense, cos I didn’t seem to understand how I will be carrying so much luggage to an Airbnb. Whilst packing, I had bought 2 cargo long sacks, and was putting clothes n sweaters that would be sent via cargo later in it.

Wednesday JULY 17th
We virtually didn’t sleep the night before as I began last minute packing. That was when I knew that 23kg is so minute. We had the normal glass body scale. The idea was to weigh you, then carry the suitcase, then subtract. Of course, it was my Husband that did all the macho work. The scale records each measurement also, so a single person can do solo. Also, I was getting an Airbnb same time.
Ethiopia Flight was for 1:40pm, My parents showed up around past 8. Left in a hurry at around 9am. It was an hour drive. Got in 10:10am, We had 4 checked-in suitcases, 2 hand luggage, 2 schoolbags (laptops in it) and of course my hand bag. The airport scanner at the entrance stopped 2 food boxes, my Mum n I went to understand whatsup. A lady asked my to put the box on the platform n open it, asking me the contents. I told her foodstuffs, they looked up n saw my mum, n asked if its Mama that has the box…My Mum said its hers…They allowed me to go o. And said if I was asked, I should say its clothes….I didn’t know how I can lie that kian lie, cos the moment u open my box eh, the soup smell u will get is enough convincing. My Mum just rogered the woman some change that surprised the Woman,,@N400 n said she was coming back. So luckily, that how I escaped the Agric people…weighed the luggage, all on point, within the range. 22, 23.5, 24, 23.7….good to go! No queue at all. Please come early as much as possible, cos just 30 mins after, the queue I saw was scary. W used the remaining time to eat our last naija meal for now. Meanwhile, I was able to change naira to CAD easily at the BCD @ N285 which wasn’t bad instead of stressing with USD. 350CAD = N99,750. I withdrew 100k from an atm closeby n case closed. That was enough for holding. Took pictures n said goodbyes. My brother inlaws called us to wait for them before we get in to board. My Parents were in full disagreement n told us to start going as the attendant had told us 12pm boarding. It was 12:15pm. We asked the boarding officials if we can see my inlaws..he said we should note the boarding time on out tickets; 12:55pm. So we kukuma waited n took pictures when they came, We had to go outside cos it was a large convoy. 12:40…ran back in to board. Little did we know the journey to the plane was long n had its own process. At some point we started jogging, to meet up with 12:55 at the gate. I gave all my nairas to my Mum before boarding, so nothing for the glorified askers. We made it!!!! We won’t be doing this kian James Bond anytime soon. My Sis had slightly missed her flight to US, n had to pay more money for another flight, that wasn’t an option for us ooo. Food was okay to me, inflight entertainment was okay. Just that both flights didn’t have enough leg room. I made a friend on the second leg: Ethiopian to Toronto, she sat beside me with her handsome baby boy, that never cried all through the trip! Somehow, we were all headed to Calvary.
