Good evening house, i have this worry, my program offers internship, research, and thesis option and on the website its stated that student applying for research base programs are advised to contact suppervisor.
My worry is that i think the thesis option which is what am appling for also requires research.
My Question is will i need to contact a faculty member or suppervisor? Since am taking the thesis option.

treeofhelp,

You've a very good profile that can land you a TRV approval. It seems like you didn't write convincingly to why you're travelling to Canada to undertake your proposed program. Your home ties to Nigeria how was it addressed in your SOP? Did you list out the above documents (landed properties, and registered Bussiness) and explain in detail how those properties would induce your return after studies? Did you also let the visa officer know that you're leaving your beloved family behind and will be coming back to reunite with them?,. I am very much interested in your next application, your chances of getting approval is high.
Dear Frank, thank you for the selfless work you are doing on this thread. Please i have a very pertinent and sensitive qestion to ask you, dear please respond to my pm.

Yes it is very possible to apply for funding at any age. Canadian schools truly do not see age as a barrier to learning. An overwhelming number of school in Canada stand for the proposition that it is never too late to study. Usually the only people that make such a fuss on age are the VOs. They have a tendency of questioning why people are going for school at such age, thinking they won't be genuine students. I think it's how they were trained as visa officers on how to spot out the genuine from the fake study permit applicants. Whether they are right or wrong in using age, is another subject.

That said, I do not think your friend will encounter any issues anymore because he returned to school and redeemed himself by scoring a first class. He is the ideal candidate to bag admission and funding from Canadian schools. And since he has returned to school and graduated recently, it means he has no long study gap, the key factor that goes in tandem with age, why VOs usually doubt the legitimacy of whether one will be a genuine applicant.

In a nutshell, your friend is good to go. He has redeemed himself by earning a first class, therefore making himself highly attractive in the applicant pool for admission and funding. He has also no long study gaps (time since last enrolled in school) that makes VOs doubt the the genuiness of one's study. Issa goal for your friend with good planning ahead.

Ps: perfectly okay to have money in account if he pursued work and school at the same time or recently or in the past after graduation. Although pursuing work after graduation is better to have. He can use his bank statement and explain how he earned the money.
Thanks dear regards

Good evening house, please someone should show mercy to my post. I have this friend of mine, he has a first degree in political science with a second class, graduated 2014, he decided to go for another degree in the same discipline and came out with a first class, he is 35 and graduated 2018, he wants to go for a masters in canada.
NB he applied for a study permit in 2015 with his first degree for a second degree since he had low grades and could not go for a masters and was refused, he decided now to complete another degree here and now want to go for a masters.
- As regards to funding, is it posible to apply have fundin at 35?
-When applying will he need to apply with both degrees to both cic and school?
-is there any problem to apply for visa at this age especially as a fresh graduate who is not working but has cash in his bank account as he has been involve in business while in school?
-When applying will it be neccessary to use his bank statement eventhough a fresh graduate?

Please i will appretiate all gurus to give me their points of view, especially @Austinpee, Frank, Jeremy

Mr Knowitall Visa Officer. I have been so quiet on this thread but I have to reply this. This is the most proud, condescending and annoying reply I have seen here. There's really no known formular for this visa thing. We have seen ppl put up airtight applications but still were denied. We have seen those who didn't even submit Sop or some other documents and were approved. This thread is for sharing ideas and encouragement. The lady was probably devastated. That kind of crass reply is abhorrent, biko. You're not God and you don't know it all.
Lastly, I see people here asking others for help with writing sop. You are the only one who can write your own sop, because you understand your situation/condition. If at this stage of life, you can't write an sop for yourself in your own words, then you don't deserve a graduate degree. it's okay to ask for guidance though. My 2 cents
Please try to respect those who spend most of their time to carryout research to provide answers to people, you have been in the background collecting information from those who have decided to help, so you have no right whatsoever to call someone Mr know it all. My advice is, try to vet SOP or respond to questions then you will know what it means to degrade someone who was just trying to help

Good morning Great people. I Want to say something.. Some PGD applicants are truly the course of their denial. I was going through previous threads and I saw a law graduate from the uNiversity who was deniad based on purpose of visit. He graduated Law and secured admissions for human resource managanent in Conestoga.

Law and HRM aren't related !!

From the V.O's perspective. He looks desperate and apparently not serious with studies. I guess..

These people are even making it more difficult for TRV to fall on genuine PGD applicants..

My lil advice : Anyone going for PGd MUST try as much as possible to make his/her intending program to be ALMOST SYNONYMOUS to previous study..

Bosses is the house I hail... Na with respect i make my submission
Hello dear, am not trying to refuse that some PGD students expose themselves to purpose of visit but you can't say law has nothing to do with human resource, the last time I checked law deals with administration and labour as seen in courses such as labour law and administrative law all this can be linked to HR

Please help answer this questions......how does your selected program differ from the same program in your country Nigeria
U can talk of, up to date equipment, internships, global experience, renowned lecturers and also compare some aspects found in your proposed course in canada which is not found here. Read your course website and do some research, you will find many.

Hi everyone, please i need urgent help, i graduated with b.a agriculture in my university here in nigeria and i applied for post bacc. Diploma in international business and i was offered admission after making payment of my first semester tuition which was 7,700 CAD and i submitted my application on the 3rd of november at VAC and which i filled TRV for my daughter who is just 8month and on the 12th of december i go a mail that my processed passport has been dispatched from the canadian embassy.. i just picked up my passport today and when i picked my passport here was why i was been refused:

I am not satisfied that you will leave canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on ur travel history
I am not satisfied that you will leave canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your family ties in canada and in your home country of residence
I am not satisfied that you will leave canada at the end of your stay,as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR based on purpose of visit.

Can anyone help me out because i should resume january 1st 2018 for winter session but i will differ my admission but pls when can i reapply. Thanks
Sorry for the delay, a diploma is way below your first degree, so purpose of visit was eminent. First thing first, look for a maters program in agriculture or related fields, read through at least one part of the thread, then if you have any more questions we will be here to help.

Thank you BRANDYAK for the prompt response and feedback.

My first worry is that the last application I did my elder sister was my Co sponsor. (My spouse 's personal account doesn't have huge funds in it however we both run a joint account that has funds up to N4.4M. I plan to make part tuition payment of $CAD 10,000 (Can't afford afford to pay more than that for now because the St Mary's international students office recommended that pay into $CAD 20,000 or all of first year tuition fee!!!) whenever I'm reapplying based on my initial refusal.

My second challenge is if my elder sister and spouse can be my Co sponsor alongside my self or better still my elder sister transfers more funds into my account. (hope this won't be a red flag by the VO since I plan to reapply by last week of January 2018 so that my spouse and I will be responsible only for the funding.
Meanwhile I have registered CAC documents(it is enterprises) though haven't opened a bank account with it yet.
Lastly my concern as regards "no correlation between my course of study for first degree , job role and intended program is worrisome" My first degree is computer science and I have been a sales person in the banking sector for 5 years (part of what I do is to drive electronic channels which is IT related.) I choose MTEI master of Technology and Entrepreneurial innovation be sure it has both technology and finance. This is felt will bring the gap between my job role, future plans andy first degree course. I bet insight on how to convince the VO in this regards when reapplying.

Phew sorry for the long epistle just need assistance for application that will be ready for submission in about a month's time. I anticipate your contributions.
Please try to quote well, after you click on quote just write.

You can use the joined account and to ease everything, your sister should transfer her own portion to your personal account and write an explanation letter. Please am not use to niara so when quoting me you can put everything in cads.
What is important is that, the both accounts should have enough funds to cover one year tuition and living expenses, putting in to consideration dependent, and possibility of sponsoring future years. Payment of tuition does not guarantee trv except it's a requirement of the institution
Your sister should remain your sponsor after transferring the said amount, because you still need to show evidence or possibility to sponsor future years. With a well crafted explanation and evidence, it will not be a red flag.
Make sure you come out with concrete correlation between pass education, work, proposed program and future goals (something very convincing, with evidence that will challenge purpose of visit for your PGD).

Good morning house, i just downloaded my gcms consent form and i have some questions to ask
1. Am i to feel the section C(no 3) on the consent form where it states "YOU MUST WRITE YOUR DESIGNATED INDIVIDUAL'S CONTACT NUMBER".
2. Is the CAAG reference number on my visa application or the visa tracking number sent to me by vfs is the UCI? And if not please how will i go about the UCI number? @BRANDYAK and other gurus in the house help me out..
Sorry for the late response, I was busy. On that section C you have to fill information of your designated contact(the person who will help you in canada) his name signature email.
As for your UCI number you send to him so fill on the main form. Make sure you sign with a black ink and write the date you signed.

I reapplied to St Mary's university for MTEI program (Master of Technology and entrepreneurship innovation) since they don't defer graduate admission. I was offered admission 1st December for a start program September 2018. I plan to apply for study permit by last week in January 2018.
Now my clarifications are s follows:
1. Is it advisable that I use my spouse as my sponsor? (we have a joint account that has funds in it even though my spouse's personal /salary account does have substantial turnover. Also, recall that when I last applied for study permit that is was denied I used my elder sister as my Co sponsor.
2. I need your suggestions on what can address home ties. (GCMS states that I don't have home ties meanwhile I have Canadian trv that is had used early this year.
3. Standard sample SOP to address this creation raised on my denial.
Further suggestions are welcome.
Let me try
Yes anybody can sponsor you provided he has the mimimum one year turtion and 10000cads puting in to consideration his or her dependence. Your spouse is a very reliable sponsor, also puting in to consideration how he will race funds for future yeas. Make sure you sponsorship letter expresses the strong bond between you and also talk about your furture plansas a couple.

My dear, home ties can range from finantial investment, family to professional ties depending on you, think of any you may have. If you decide to take the professional route then i advise you show a lot of passion in solving problems you have identified in home country, that your return will be inevitable bc of the passion you have Shown.
If it family it must be close relation, show how you cant do without them or they cant do without you for a verry long time, like aging or sick parents show proof or just the bond. If its your wife and children , you may talk about your little girl how you are fun of her, how she makes you laugh how you miss them. Tell the vo how really want participate in your childrens up bringing, u dnt want be a distant husband or parent. If handle this eightly no vo will refuse u visa.

About your travel history, did you bring the vo's attension to the fact that you had travelled to canada and maybe other developed coutries and return before? just presenting trv is not enough as some vo may seeyou as someone who has visited canada and seen it beauty and is now using the study route to abscon. You have to tell them

Thanks for the reply bro... i stated everything in my statement of purpose
1. The program is process quality engineering and it's a pgd program.
2. It was stated in my sop why i wanted to study the course abroad and my plans after the program and why d program is important to me.
3. The 6mil was paid to my personal account and not my dorm acc and i backed the statement up with a letter of sponsorship from my dad stating the he paid d money to my account and d money is accessible by me.
4. I studied chemical engineering in my first degree and the program is a bit related to my previous course of study. Your swift reply will be highly appreciated. Thanks
Dominic if i want to start with you case you need to answer this questions . when did you finish Bsc? are they any gaps if yes what have you been doing since then, is it dirrectly linked to your pgd/c? do you have any special skill this pgd will give that a master cant give?
N.B i advise you to look for a masters program in related to your undergraduate especially if u are fresh from school. Pgd/c are design for Work pleace and it will be difficult for fresh graduate to convince vo of their purpose of visit.

I did not see any employment document to proof what you have been doing, if it exist include in your next app, employment only will not help you much with pgd you have to do more, you can add e.g sample of in that domain, add attestation maybe from some private individuals u have done their Work, screen shot of your Work, that is what is going to convince vo that are in this field.
I did not see your personal asset apart from the six m transfered to your account by sponsor. If uou have been working atleast you made some money so prove it or Personal asset and finantial situation will hunt you.

As for employment prospect in country of residence, you have to bring aut something tangible that you will do with your proposed program after studies, whose job are you after, where you see your selfin five years, how you will use the diploma in Nigeria, what problems have you identified and how the pgd will help in resolving this problems identified.
N.B you have to demonstrate a lot of passion if you want to sale through with your pgd, if you do all this with alot of proves the sky will be your limit. You dont only say you passion eg i had pssion for bla bla bla say what you have done and show proof, tell them the skills you already have and those your canada education will add, tell and show examples of you have alreadydone in the field if you do all this tactfully visa officer cannot deny u visa.

There is just so much u can say, just think
U can maybe talk about the program not available in your country if applicable, the kind of environment you like to study in, the ranking of the university, canadian rich acedemic standard and technological outputa, multi cultural environment, the international education and experience and the international copetitive advantage, how the global learning will not only enrich learning but fascinate enovationand may be alife changing experience, how some one you know with canadian education became successful ,be precise give reasonable example. Talk about where you see yyour self in five years, that is you furture plans and how a masters from canada would contribut in achieving this goals. You can also look at the program in your country and copare it with that of canada bringing aut the advantages of you taking that program in canada, that is what is done in canada that is not done in schools in Nigeria

If I go for PGC/D and then masters, does it qualify for the 3 year work permit?

@soj @justwise @mazi @jynuwa
The rule is study for one year as an international student and get a one year post study work permit or study for two years and get two or three years post study work permit, all lies at the discretion of visa officer. You can do both the masters and PGD depending on when you decide to apply for your work permit.
