The most common culprit to the sliding door electronic panel is water. This usually happens when you wash your engine bay. The only exception is if the sliding door cable is broken, weak or unable to properly latch. That's why I asked those questions. Be way, not all electricians understand the electronics of this door. Some of them could damage other components through trial & error. Trust me, I have been there; done that.

Just a piece of advise.

This is my current 2005 Audi A8 4.2 V8 Quattro, with the rear seat for 3 passengers. This is what I shall be getting in the 6.0 W12 LWB:

This rear space is massive. Imagine what you can get with the 6.0 W12 LWB. Wow! Amazingly interesting. Siena, I will be like you someday. Nice ride you've got though. This is why they say "driving is fun..."

The Audi A8 also comes as a 5-seater too. W12 models are rare, and definitely turn heads whether stationary or on the move. wink

Alright bruh. Congratulations. Hope you give me a ride anytime I catch up with you.

What year is your Sienna? Did you wash your engine? Something must have triggered it. You need to provide a little more detail of what happened. In any case, where is your location? It's not a big issue to sort out
Car Talk / Re: 2008 Audi A8 D3 6.0 W12 Or 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 5.7 HEMI Quad Cab? by bravolad(m): 8:43pm On Dec 21, 2014
Well, the Dodge Ram is more like it considering that your family has grown & the strict rule on sitting arrangement (including a car seat for a child) in the UK. It's got more cargo space & probably three passengers at back seat and one person in the front. So you have got to provide one more space...Lol.

The Audi A8 is more of a plushy ride and falls short of your purpose. Any of these machines would turn heads and provide a veritable topic for discussion in any neighbourhood you park.

That amount can get you a limited number of well maintained Nigerian used car; Honda 1990 -1993 (halla), Nissan Sunny 1993 etc. I doubt you could get a clean Nigerian used Golf 3 for that amount.

If you are not in a hurry, you could wait & save up a bit more money before buying. You could also consider @calculus12 option.
Car Talk / Re: What Is The True Position Now,selling My Car With Or Without The New Plate Numbe by bravolad(m): 9:53pm On Dec 18, 2014
chukel:
this is not true. I used my old plate on my former car to register my new car. Sold d old car without the plate. No problems at all. I only spent 15k to do the transfer and get all my papers. Everything was done with frsc. U can go to their office and make inquiry

You are absolutely wrong. FRSC does not issue number plates, they are issued by the licensing office of the VIO. Get your information right. I just changed one of my cars from private to commercial, so I know what I am talking about. Most people just sit at home & order for the registration of their cars and often times, driving license through FRSC Officers they meet on the road. This is why you have a lot of fake number plates & driving licenses.

Please, for those who do not know, FRSC does not issue vehicle license, number plate or driving license. They are only in charge of driving license production.
Car Talk / Re: What Is The True Position Now,selling My Car With Or Without The New Plate Numbe by bravolad(m): 10:57am On Dec 18, 2014
Ikenna351:
Don't sell with the new number plate. It has become yours permanently. If the new owner or the vehicle is used in something illegal and the number is captured, its you that will be traced and apprehended. Your data is already saved in FRSC database for life against that number plate. You can re-register it on another vehicle of yours in your name, not on vehicle particulars not bearing your name.
Ikenna

To register a number plate on another car is no longer possible. You will be advised at any Vehicle Licensing Office to obtain a new number plate for your car. There seems to be some kind of confusion regarding the registeration of an existing number plate to a newly acquired car. If you go to a licensing office, they would tell you it is not possible to do this. But I remember their recent pronouncement that number plates belong to individuals whose names are registered with them. It is actually contradictory in real practice as VIO do not keep to that.
Car Talk / Re: A Closer Look At The Innoson SUV. (pictures) by bravolad(m): 12:43pm On Nov 30, 2014
It is not just a mistake not to include a CD player in a modern vehicle but a design error. Just to buttress the points most respondents here have made, if pace setters within the automobile industry still have CD players in their vehicles; why would Innoson, an upcoming indigenous auto manufacturer not deem it necessary to add that feature to their design.

Having said that, I Think they hurriedly went on sale without necessarily undertaking a study of their customers' taste and choices. I have only seen their SUVs but not sedan or saloon counterpart. Does it mean everybody would be forced to use SUV? It is a wonderful thing to have an automobile designed and assembled in Nigeria but what about maintenance of such automobile. Assuming I leave in Sokoto and I buy IVM, can I get replacement parts in that region of the country. If I am driving on the road and certain components of the vehicle fails, can I easily find replacement parts? What about workshops...how well spread are they within Nigeria?

In as much as we need to encourage the local content, it must be done the right way. Before you begin to manufacture cars, you must have the capacity to build and manufacture serviceable/replacement parts for those vehicles. Research automobile manufactures across the world, you will find out that those countries have the capacity to produce serviceable parts. This is what basically drives the automobile industry.

Nigeria relies heavily on imported products including serviceable parts for vehicles imported into the country. Personally, I don't like any of the Innoson's SUVs in terms of their shape and look but some other people may like it. How long do you think they can be kept on the Nigerian roads. Can Nigeria sustain this car manufacturing industry? In a few years from now, let's see how far we can go with it. What about the build quality of those vehicles? How many Nigerians can afford those vehicles (even though they are brand new) and keep them on the roads for the five years? The popular Igbo adage "that at the end of the journey, we shall count the miles covered" comes to mind in this context.

Personally, I won't buy any of those vehicles however cheap they appear. I would rather wait until I get a certain amount of money to buy a fairly used trusted brand with the right appeal and design quality.

Policies are not properly articulated in Nigeria that's why we have several failed projects. Once the those who implement these projects get the money they want, such projects are either abandoned of completed with the best of substandard materials.

Please what is the difference between a 5w20 and and 5w30.
I saw on gonga that there is a milemaster for 5w20, I am thinking of ordering it today. will you advice I proceed.

No. If the recommended oil for your car is 5w-30, that is what you need. It is the right viscosity & API rating for your car. This spec of oil is readily available almost everywhere in Nigeria. However, you need to ensure you buy from a reputable store so you don't buy a substandard one. It is also available in conventional, semi-synthetic and synthetic blends. The choice of which to use is strictly yours.

And how many sellers will allow this
Ordinary scan, dem dey para
It comes with experience, if you don't have it, you can never tell a car with bad engine and transmission.

Run away from sellers who do not allow you to test driver their cars. As someone observed, buy some fuel in the car and drive out. This is the only way you identify certain engine & transmission faults. If a seller is unwilling to allow for a test drive, that's one pointer that the car could have an underlying problem. For a genuine seller, if he's sure you will pay for the car after a test drive, he certainly will sanction it if there are no issues with the particular car.

I have test drove all cars I have bought to date & never have any engine or transmission problems. As per documents you need, most respondents have listed them all. If you are buying a Nigerian used, ensure you inspect driver's license and/or international passport to match the name on the documents, absolutely important.

Can you go a day without water or without food?
Why try such with your car?
Yes, u'l say she's just a machine and not human..
But I tell u, d same way blood flows in ur vain is same way engine oil flows in the vein of ur cars..
How do u maintain blood in ur veins! Eat good food and fruits, take water..
Don't work a willing horse to death, its a bad practice..
I love cars. When a car hasn't given you problems, u won't appreciate or value the car.. Pls don't wait till ur car developesun-curable problems..
Help your car to help you. Thanks.

Your analogy does not add up. I truly can't understand your comparison. Are you suggesting you just add water to your radiator even when there's no space to fill the water? Or you drain the one in your radiator every 3-4 days just to add another water? I'm at a loss about your comparison to human body.

Please note that the radiator is a closed system and as such does not require constant top up except there's a leak which could be internal or external. Your practice of constantly adding water to your radiator does not portray a good maintenance habit but the lack of it. You are acting out of ignorance. Read the manual that came with your car, it will give you a better understanding of what I'm talking about. My vehicle is 3.3l engine, much bigger than yours yet I don't have a reason to top up. I have used the vehicle for about 3 years here in Nigeria.

Some of your practice is a direct consequence of your constant patronage of roadies.

Just as little as a glass of water is not normal..
Well, sometimes I can go 3 to 4 days without toping it at all, and it depends on the kind of work and distance the car covers.. U seem to have plenty cars, so they tend to do lesser work..
My car is the only one I have, so it works like a jackass for me. Come rain come sunshine, I flog the living shit out from her.. Very efficient and never disappoint..
Since water isn't expensive and I don't have to buy it, I don't mind even if it takes 4 litres of water every morning, provided it does what I expect of it and she doesn't over heat on me during the day when I need it most..
I never ever allow my car disappoint me.
Whenever a car disappoints u, just know its your fault, so just do everything possible to avoid ur car disappointing you.

You are wrong bruh. Topping off you radiator with water every 3-4 days indicates you have a small leakage somewhere within your system. It's a wrong practice. I have just a car that serves my family including taking my kids to school & my wife to work. I can not remember the last time I added water to my radiator yet, I travel with the car. The only thing I have done in the last 3 months was to add a little coolant because it reduced a bit.

I'm not a brand person but a die-hard fan of a good car, I presently own a 07 Corolla and have driven three out of the last four generations of Camry, Camry remains shapeless with bland interior when compare with Accord of same generation.
The only positive thing in the
02 - 06 Camry is the engine, that car has the worst interior of its generation.

You need to understand that most people in this part of the world do not buy cars because of their beauty. As none of these cars you mentioned could be classified in when discussing aesthetic appreciation for a car. They just need a car to move from place to place. Those can only be seen as working tools.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Working In A Hotel? by bravolad(m): 11:13am On Nov 08, 2014
Well, there is nothing wrong with working in a hotel but for ladies, it predisposes them to a lot of danger and/or influence. Depending on upbringing, your personal disposition towards money & wealth, ability to say no to approaches from money bags, and your personality type, you could work with no problems.

The only snag is when you begin to dine & wine with different guests. From a man's perspective especially in Nigeria, ladies who work in hotels are seen to be easily influenced to yield to men's desires. For some ladies, there's nothing wrong with it but for others, it's an absolutely no no.

If you can stick to your guns, it may represent a good beginning for a career.

Ego & self esteem do not carry out your job function rather competence & hardwork do. I have worked in an Organization where certain members of staff who were less competent where well ahead of some of us in terms of position & pay. But I can assure you, they did not last because the core functions were carried out by us...by the time it became obvious, they did not only loose their jobs but we were promoted and placed on the right salary.

Personally, your competence at the job should take priority over qualification. If your employment presents the company with value add, sooner or later, you will be promoted.

You may read my post again, then read yours then compare. The only different was the fact that you choose to call them by their Nigerian names as muscle, evil spirit etc while I refered to them with their year of production and you went back to 1997 models which I didnt want to talk about because you did not mention it in that post. Please, read your post I quoted, read mine again.

Meanwhile, I have no intention to derail this thread. Choose your Honda while I stick with my Toyota. I have used both cars & based on experience, I know which to choose. I do not think which ever one you & I choose really matters provided we are happy with our choice.

Good luck with your choice.

Hahaha you got it all wrong, the generation models is what you compares, the babyboy generation compares to Tinylight/droplight generation while EOD/DC generation compares to the Big daddy era with Evil Spirit slugging it out Muscle.
Camry Tinylight/Droplight has its generation started a year earlier (1997 - 2001 ) than the Accord babyboy (1998 - 2002 ), while big daddy started 2002 - 2006 with the EOD going into shops as 2003 model.
Even at that I'll choose Babyboy over the 02 Camry any day.

Absolutely, you now concur with my earlier submission. However, choice is a matter of personal perception, taste & preference.

Beauty would always be subjected to different levels of interpretation. What appeals to Mr A May not to Mr B. Our aesthetic appreciation as individuals will also be affected by our disposition towards a particular object. To this extent, I would say that beauty is subjective. Whereas some view beauty from the internal perspective of the vehicle others will consider performance as their yardstick for consideration.

For me the Crosstour tickles my fancy but I would prefer the Venza for reliability, ruggedity & resale value.

chucky234:
Try compare the big for nothing (Camry 02 - 06) to the EOD.

Bruh, this is a faulty generalization & a bland comparison. Compare 02 Camry to Baby boy (accord) & 2003-2005 Camry to 2003-2005 Accord (EOD). End of Discussion started from 2003 & ended in 2005.

Very unfortunate situation for you. I can understand how you feel. You need to be calm while searching for the best solution. It is important I let you understand that many people are not happy with their current jobs or role profile. However, a job brings food to your table and enables you leave your house every morning. That way, you avoid home boredom & financial struggle.

You can make enquiry at your previous company to see if you could go back to the role you left. Where this is not possible, stay put in the current job while looking for new jobs. One reality you must acknowledge is that there are so many graduates driving taxis & all forms of menial work just to put food on the table yet so many others are searching for such opportunities.

For me, I think you should move away from ego, pride & the euphoria of being an engineer to face the reality of our time. Continue in your current role, if you are very good at what you are doing, in time, you will be assigned a much dignified role and responsibility. What is more important is the added value you are bringing to the organization rather than your course of study. By the time they realize how good you are at what you do and that you are almost indispensable as the case may be, they will promote you ahead of some of your current colleagues.

Do not be discouraged, find ways to develop yourself and move on.

I don't give my vehicle to anyone to drive neither do I ask anyone to use their vehicles. This way, I avoid unnecessary problems. People are funny. Once your reaction falls short of their expectation, they ask you " why are you reacting like this for just an ordinary car". So for me, I would rather avoid it because the sound of the bitter cola in the mouth does not reflect the taste.

As long as it's a brand new car, there's nothing to worry about except tips to policemen who will want to delay you. Nothing like custom wahala.
I drove a brand new Kia Cerato from Lagos to Ph sometime last year without issues on the road. The policemen were like "Oga you buy new car, give us our drink money" i usually give them 200 or 500 naira depending on my mood. Just got stopped like 6 road blocks all within Edo and Delta state.

Although this thread is as old as man, for the records and for those who might decide to buy cars and drive before registration is completed. The law allows you a three month (3) window period within which to register your car. Within this period, you could drive your car to any part of the country if your papers are genuine. For brand new cars, custom would not even stop you. Your worry should be losing your car to armed robbers.

Car Talk / Re: Mazda Mpv Vs Toyota Sienna For Transportation. by bravolad(m): 10:11pm On Oct 26, 2014
I often wonder why people recommend cars based on what they would prefer to the poster's reason for a car. He has certain parameters in mind when considering a vehicle to use for transport. Two options that would give him the best of choices.

I think we need to be real and also consider the location of use for these vehicles in consideration. There's a reason transporters use particular brands and models for business; ruggedity, reliability, affordability, availability of parts as well as access to knowledgeable mechanics are accessories to vehicle ownership in Nigeria. He is not looking for a vehicle to compete for the best aesthetic design and build but reliability over long time of use.

Personally, I have no bias over any brand but We need to consider the ability to maintain a car and also find parts and mechanics when buying a car. I have not seen Nissan Quest being used for transport especially, for long haulage. But Toyota Sienna 3.0l engine offers him the best of choices in this part of the world considering all parameters. The 4 cylinder MPV would also offer a good bagain but it won't offer good performance under load as the Sienna would.

I am not sure that the 6 cylinder MPV is as rugged and reliable as the Sienna. Therefore, I think, considering all odds, the ops should go for the Sienna which offers him a relative peace of mind with respect to all parameters being considered.
