Wow! This is not a very good way to transact business. Usually, it’s important to smoothen a business relationship in other to encourage a repeat business & sometimes get some referrals. There shouldn’t have been need for this thread if Seller kept communication open & calmly explains the reason for the delay & offer a definite timeline for pick up & refund thereafter. This is a Nigerian thing; poor customer service and the general attitude of even if you don’t buy tomorrow, others will. Not good for business. @luvinhubby, your being busy doesn’t justify your not picking up the item & the subsequent delays therein...assuming he sent the item as a sample for additional supply, I bet you would have found time to pick it up & make sure u get paid. If the coin is flipped & you are at the receiving end, will you like it? Again, you haven’t done very well with your responses here either. The time you have taken to respond here would have been utilised to pick up the item & refund him. From the foregoing, it appears the delay in picking up the said item is a deliberate attempt to cause further delay. This will do more damage to your online presence than whatever defence you offer. Remember, if I’m a prospective customer, I will be extremely cautious to buy from you after reading this thread. Please, endeavour to do the needful & offer an apology to Kufie who I felt had a good intention to patronise you. 7 Likes |

mayor2013: Which mechanic workshop does that in Nigeria right now? Do well to tell us if your workshop has these capabilities. What are the cost implication? So owners can make informed decision's. Then, other intending owners who may like to replace theirs might contact you. More so, information is power. |

@Readonee35L & @Mayor2013, you are both saying the same thing albeit differently & there's no need to quarrel. The essence of the thread is actually to inform vehicle owners with deployed airbags that they can get their cats back to factory specs. Although there are other sundry expenses in addition to the major cost of purchase of equipment. |

Readonee35L: The driver & knee airbags cost 55k while the airbag module was 35k Resetting the airbag module would been my choice if the service is available here as some shops in the USA offer this service for $65 with slight variation in price depending on which part of the USA. The major challenge was getting the airbag module as most of the cars that come into Nigeria had deployed airbags. This also makes it easier for them to inflate price. |

Picked up the airbag module the following day. It’s important to point out that the clock spring was equally replaced. After replacing the module, the airbag light disappeared. And the car is back to normal with the airbag light coming up when the ignition is turned on and disappears after the vehicle starts. 1 Like

Car Talk / Who Says you can’t Replace A Deployed Airbag - kingreign Just Did by bravolad(m): 4:56pm On Nov 22, 2017 |
I bought my RX330 with a deployed driver's airbag which also incudes knee airbag and had driven the vehicle for close to 3 years with no incident or major repair. The very has been very faithful although with proper preventive maintenance. Servicing of engine oil and tranny fluid have been routinely as at when it's due. My wife mostly drives this vehicle just to the office & back of less than 5 miles daily. Recently, I became seriously concerned about the airbag though I have always wanted to refit the airbag to functional state. Since its better to air on the side of caution, I made up my mind to fix it. More so, Xmas is around the corner & my family will be travelling to the east in the ride, I decided to contact kingreign about the possibility of replacing the deployed airbag. A scan revealed 3 major codes of the steel wheel airbag, driver's knee airbag and the driver's seat belt. While diagnosing as I had anticipated, he discovered that the vehicle seller had concealed the airbag light with a black masking tape behind the instrument cluster. This ensures that the airbag light never came up when the ignition is turned on. While buying the car, my immediate major concern was to ensure that the frame and chassis were not impacted during the accident as this will guarantee my tyres are not always out of alignment & unnecessary uneven wear. More so, vin report indicated it was a lone accident meaning there's no multiple airbag deployment. So I went ahead to pay for the vehicle. So fast forward to last week, my greatest fear was hoping that the dealer who sold the vehicle to me didnt delete the airbag & removed the airbag module. So the moment he discovered the black masking tape, I heaped a sigh of relief. With this relief, we placed an order for the 3 items. Items arrived after 3 days and was installed. After the installation, all the codes evaporated but the srs light remained lit on the instrument cluster. Further troubleshooting revealed that the airbag module needs to be replaced. Now, this is the deal breaker as the module was hidden under the gear selector, which requires that you must remove a significant part of the dashboard in other to access it including the center console which coincidently is a channel through which aircon circulates to the rear seat. It also requires some level of caution & expertise because the Lexus dash facial is a delicate one and could easily get scratched or damaged. We searched all over Apo & Zuba spare part markets in Abuja with no success. Since I have a reliable brother & friend at Ladipo, I contacted him to make an enquiry. Within few minutes of search in Ladipo, the module was found. The following day, I paid and item was shipped to Abuja. Stay tuned... 5 Likes

wwwkaycom: Very sad. That's the nature of the country we live in. This is becoming a routine by police officers to level all manner of alligations on motorists in order to fleece them. This incidents of extortion by police officers on duty is one case too many especially those ones at that Iwo road junction, they specialise in these kinds of situations. mayor2013: From the story above, & considering that he had only 1200, I don't think he would have been able to settle it there. 1 Like |
Car Talk / Re: Can Thiss Work In Nigeria? by bravolad(m): 11:23am On Oct 27, 2017 |
Promxy94: Even if we have the enabling laws for immediate adjudication and deserving punishments, uniform organisations like the Army, Police, Navy etc including law makers & political appointees will abuse it thereby weakening the system. Provided some individuals are stronger than the system, it would never work. Until such a time our laws, no matter how trivial, applies to all, and in all circumstances, it will never work. If laws are used in the perspective for which they exist and people can’t operate with impunity irrespective of political or social standing, then, it can. Provided people are respected by virtue of their wealth & riches, political associations, social status and so on, it will never work. And finally, until such a time when an average Nigerian respects constituted authority by obeying traffic lights, parking in designated areas, disposing wastes appropriately, falling in line to obtain services and using pedestrian bridges where they are available without the need for coercion; only then can it work. 1 Like |

Car Talk / Re: Changing Of A Car Mileage by bravolad(m): 7:28am On Oct 08, 2017 |
ray48: And you honestly expect a Nigerian car dealer to tell you the truth? You must still be wallowing in your nightlong sleep. They would feign ignorance about the mileage rollback. But truth be told, most buyers are the architect of their problem by looking to by a low mileage at a reasonably low price. In the USA, low mileage cars are expensive. To answer op’s question; yes, dealers tamper with a car’s mileage here in Nigeria. The earlier you understand this the better for you so you don’t expect to buy a low mileage car at a ridiculously low price. Don’t fall for it. However, not all dealers engage in this act. 4 Likes |

Car Talk / Re: What Car Do I Buy by bravolad(m): 7:44am On Oct 07, 2017 |
Your choice of car is somewhat dependent on your status as a single or married person. The Camry will serve you better if you are married. But the Matrix will have a better mpg because of engine displacement & car size. But your budget will not get a clean Camry except you buy a Nigerian used or salvage tittle. Again, even a clean tittle Nigerian used will be hard to get at that price. Mind you, people have bought salvage cars & used them for years without major repairs. The choice is yours. The Matrix is not a bad option in this regard. But decide what you want so u can focus your energy in getting it. However, the Camry will be more expensive to keep in the long run but has a better resale value. Whichever you are buying, be patient & do your due diligence. |

elijah101: Obviousl, it's either the mechanic didn't tight the filter housing or the drain plug properly. What weight of Mobil 1 are u using? I guess you are using the wrong oil. The recommended engine oil for your car is 0w-20. The fact that you are using Mobil 1 does not make it right. The recommended engine oil is written on the engine cap cover through which oil is poured into the engine. |
Car Talk / Re: Mazda CX-7 2007 and Nissan S Thoughts(pics in post$ by bravolad(m): 5:41pm On Sep 19, 2017 |
So goes the saying "different strokes for different folks". It always feels different to be unique rather than blend with the bandwagons. All cars are good & have areas of strength for which user enjoy over a long time. A car is also as good as it's owner's maintenance habits. The joy to any car ownership is maintenance, availability of spare parts, technical know how etc. One of the major reasons people stick with some of the popular brands is the above listed conditions. If you live in the USA or Europe, the least of your worries would be parts of technical know how. Have u taken time to find out why those cars fail after a few years of usage in Nigeria? Sometimes, you can't even get the recommended fluid to buy because parts sellers don't stock them. Having said that, I will pick the CX-7 over the Nissan Teana. It offers a better drive experience though at the expense of fuel economy. Whichever you decide to buy, ensure you do your due diligence. |

Headlaw: Your quest is a vague one...What do you mean by Toyota Spider? You need to be clear with your question. You have neither mentioned the car model or the specific thing you want in a car. If my understanding serves me right - there are different year models in this category. When looking at a car, what exactly are your concerns; maintenance, durability, availability of spare parts, technical know how, reliability, cost etc. The list is inexhaustible. 4 Likes |
Car Talk / Re: Between Camry 05(v6) And Accord 07(i4). by bravolad(m): 7:09am On Sep 15, 2017 |
The two cars can't necessarily be compared as it's not an apple to apple comparison. This is also because the engine configurations differ. It depends on your preference; performance or aesthetics, which you didn't state. Both cars have a relative low maintenance cost & parts are readily available including competent mechanics. |

lillyontop: Be sure it's not a stolen vehicle before rushing to buy. Get a police report and pay a competent mechanic for a Pre-Purchase Inspection. The owner is lying about the custom papers. He never did pay for it. If it's paid for initially, all that is required is the C- Number to reprint the papers at just 3k. Don't fall for it else, you will be pushing a wagon up a steep hill. 1 Like |
