I'm not even sure if the correct Igbo name for the yam-like breadfruit is ukwa oyibo. Just that it was what I was told the name is. It is kind of seedless. Slice off the core and boil. The ripe ones taste like sweet potato.

Jackfruit, the one I was just informed is ukwa oyibo/bekee has edible seeds. The seeds are larger just like you described
This is the argument currently going on around me now. A friend said jackfruit seed is different from the main ukwa bekee....that ukwa bekee itself is not as big as jackfruit. Im confused cos the boiled jack fruit seed tastes exactly like ukwa bekee

Cedarlivia:
It's called ukwa oyibo in my village. Low carb. Can be eaten with palm oil sauce or pounded. Just like Cocoyam/yam shaa, but only a bit tastier. Ate it once as a child. Too tasty (maggi-ish) for my liking then.
is it the ukwa bekee that the seed is boiled and eaten?
