mariahAngel: It's a brilliant idea, but if I were hungry, and I had N1,200, I wouldn't it spend on garri. That amount is enough for a good meal.
She should have a basic and premium package, between N500-N700 at most.
Personally, I don't like powdered milk in my garri. I like it basic - just garri, groundnuts, and sugar. no be ijebu garri sef😙 |

aycorporat: for 100 litres of water, you can start with 500 fingerlings. 500 because, you might record casualty in some, at times cannibalism happens among them, either times death or so on
for fingerlings start with 0.5mm, (1 satchet) feed them lightly at least three times a day as overfeeding might kill them. Then proceed to 0.7mm, 0.8mm, 1mm, 1.5mm then 2mm.
When you attain 2mm, your mind is at rest as they are at the juvenile stage, less mortality rate. Sort big ones from smaller ones to avoid competition and for faster growth.
At all stages, ensure you change water daily since you have a steady supply of water as they enjoy the water trickling on them as a means of oxygen. Note: you do not have to bring them out to change the water, an outlet should be created in the tub where water flows out if you open the air valve. (Air valve is around 500naira and 1 inch pipe around same price) you can do it your self.
I'll be willing to answer more Thank you for taking out time to answer me...but surely that 500 is a typo right? It's only 100 litres😃 |

Hello everyone...thank you for this thread. Please i know this thread is for big farmers forgive me and attend to me. I want to start catfish rearing as a hobby...nothing serious for now. If I succeed I might get serious but for now it's just a hobby. Ok now I need all the help I can get. I have a 100 litres plastic container that we call buta plus steady water supply and space. Pls what do you advice I buy like how many fingerlings What feed to buy Do I need to get any drugs for them? To what level do I need to fill up the buta How many times I day do I feed them and what quantity? And how often do I change the water? Do I need to bring the fish out to change the water completely or I reduce the water to a certain extent with the fish still inside and then add fresh water. I will also appreciate any other tip that can help Pls forgive my plenty questions I've never done anything like this before and I'll be very happy if I get it right. Thank you all so much |
