[quote[I need to work myself up because the atheists wont allow me to share my belief among my brothers on a section that has been created solely for that purpose Did you open this thread for your brothers? See, the problem is that you don't keep your belief to yourself. You absolutely believe you hold the right to influence everyone in the tenets of your faith. This is credited to the portion of the Bible that says you should make a disciple of the whole world. You even alluded to this in your op. I will close my eyes to their delusions, if they close their eyes to mine. No. Those who spend everyday of their lives on a religion section expressing their hatred for a God that supposedly does not exist are the ones that are insecure and threatened by our stand. This is very simple. If you want to share your belief with reasonable people, you have to prove it. If you can't, just hold your peace. |

Splinz: You need not be befuddled, brother. For I supposed that whatever you hold today as knowledge were acquired either through voluntary search, revelation or experience. Now, whether you've learn or believe in all of these learning methods is inconsequential. What matters is that you've learned one way or the other.
Here is the thing. You've learned; I've learned. And out of the abundance of my knowledge, have I put forth with boldness and deep conviction that which I've acquired.
Understand that knowledge is of different types and degrees. Your level of understanding may fall short of mine, and vice versa. Also, not having an understanding of something doesn't necessarily translate to a non-existence of such knowledge.
What are we saying? Simple. You're at liberty to believe those things I've asserted or simply toss it away as trash. However, sheer denying of the truth doesn't mean its end has come. For no matter how long it is denied and suppressed, it will always kiss reality someday. Square, very square. And I like that you seem quite different from fanatic folks that inundates this section. That said, you claimed in your earlier post that God has never been responsible for mass damnation? This is totally dissonant with the god of the old testament. We both know this. Ofcourse, I understand that belief is largely subjective. Knowledge is largely not. Knowledge is a belief that is justified. Most Christians believe God is love while a very basic knowledge of the bible says not. This is why I suppose that once a Christian steps up from believing God to knowing God, he has crossed a fat red line. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Jesus Christ Is All U Need To Be Saved by Brigance(m): 5:45pm On May 27, 2016 |
Splinz: I appreciate your concerned for those you probably think as "Damned", because they haven't accepted Jesus as their Lord. But understand something here. “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day” (John 6:44, 65).
What! Is God then being biased since he's not calling everybody for salvation? Or why should anyone be blame when God hasn't called him or her? You see, contrary to what is widely believed by mainstream Christianity, "today" is not the only day of salvation, i.e, since everyone are not being called at this time, certainly, those not called yet will equally get their opportunity for salvation (Ezekiel 37, Rev 20:11-12). Do you know there are people that haven't even heard the name "Jesus" before? Do you think they'll lost out just like that? Certainly, no! That doesn't depict our God as loving and righteous.
Christ Himself spoke on many occasions about the Christian calling. You may be familiar with His statement, “For many are called, but few are chosen,” found in both Matthew 22:14 and 20:16. Later, adding meaning to the second part of this phrase, He explained this to His disciples: “You have not chosen Me but I have chosen you” (John 15:16), and then “But I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you” (vs. 19).
When placed together, these passages explain that God is calling a few people—actually a very few—out of the world for His supreme purpose. Those who respond to His calling are then “chosen,” going on to repentance, baptism and conversion. Knowing all these things saves you a lot of stress and headache when trying to talk to someone about God, knowing that one don't become a Christian out of his own volition, i.e, without being granted the knowledge
So, trouble not your heart and weep for no one but yourself, if indeed, you've been called. For with the knowledge of salvation, comes greater responsibilities, since you could lost out if the race is not run according to rules (2 Timothy 2:5).
Finally, be assured that no true God would ever choose to condemn the vast majority who have ever lived without giving them a full opportunity for salvation. Such a God would not be worth following. He would be an unjust monster whose primary purpose is the business of condemnation! That is why speaking of God, Paul states, “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth” (I Tim. 2:4). That is the plain truth of this scripture. God is not, and never has been, in the “mass condemnation” business. Honestly bro, how You manage to say this with a straight face is befuddling. |

joseph1013: CHRISTIANS, WHAT IS YOUR ADVANTAGE?
I often don't understand Christians and their beliefs. It's impossible to have a rational debate with many of our religious friends because they will ALWAYS find excuses to rationalise their beliefs.
Yesterday, I stumbled on an article on the internet where the respected Pastor Sunday Adelaja who leads the largest Pentecostal church in Europe confessed to having sexual relations with over 30 women in his congregation. See HERE
In his defence, I saw so many Christians calling for restraints and telling people who condemned him to realise that Pastors are humans who are subject to failings of the human flesh. But it kept me wondering about the irony of it all.
Isn't that convenient! I like how in trying to make excuses for these Pastors when they show their true selves, believers are always quick to admit suddenly that they are humans. Well, maybe you all should start treating them like one and stop being their sheep. When you were giving them your money for their lies, they were divine....when they tell you when and what to eat or wear, they were divine....but when they are caught pants down....you suddenly remember that they are humans and ask that they be pardoned for being human.
These are the same people who proselytise from door to door and refer to those of us who reject their message as sinners. They say that if we accept Jesus into our lives, he will give us the power to overcome sin and to live sin-less lives. These guys are worse offenders because they sin as much as the rest of us but they lie about this and project an aura of moral uprightness.
My question to them is - what is the advantage of giving my life to Jesus if your lives are as sinful as mine? What's the point of Jesus' death if Christians cannot overcome sins?
You claim that Jesus gives power over sins but why does this not stop you from sinning? And, if you admit that accepting Jesus into your lives doesn't stop you from sinning then on what basis do you invite others to give their lives to Christ?
I mean, what does this actually do for you? I ask because devout Christians experience illnesses, infertility, loss of jobs, divorces, untimely death and so on as much as everyone else.
Seeing as Christianity does not immune you from misfortune nor does it make you to be more moral than everyone else, what then is the advantage of submitting yourselves to its irrational doctrines?
To conclude, the point has to be made - religions and their gods do not make people moral. They give people a feeling of righteousness and a sense of entitlement to call others sinners whilst all the while being full of sh!t! This has been raging in my thoughts for a while. Nice work, Joe. |

blueAgent: What makes you think ,that people generally see killing as immoral? the Nazi saw it as something moral .something to be done. Tell me wat is natural about Transgender and gay. if they were natural why do they have to undergo surgery inorder to transform themselves.do animals even pratice Sodomy? why do gays decide to adopt kids since they cannot Concieve its that natural? You seem to confuse nature with normalcy/morality(that which is generally endorsed). This is not only wrong, it is equally pernicious, especially if inspired by a jaundice of religion. Let me shock you: Anything that happens within nature is natural. Nevertheless, as a result of the evolution of the human society, not every natural item/act/occurence should be accepted or allowed. This is the primal function of law/legality. To sanction morality and social opprobrium while disapproving that which is harmful and and injurious to the human society. Well, this is the dicey part. And legislators(well, in this part of the world do not know any better. Law is expected to enforce morality in relation to fellow citizens and society in general and not what a subjective individual or group of people(religion is a major culprit here) think is right. This is sufficient background for what is to come. If we are to allow and accept gays as been natural, we should also accept. pedophile and Nymphons. since they are all natural desires I find this almost certainly hypocritical and ignorant( I included ignorant because i was once in the same thought train as you, so I consider it necessary to point at). To marshal this, Let us distinctly consider the definition of homosexuality and pedophilism. Homosexuality is a consensual sexual activity between two adults of same gender. Conversely, paedophilism necessarily suggests that a party to the sexual activity is underage, thus unable to confer proper consent. There's a wealth of reality to buttress this. More than 117 countries of the world population legalised gay marriage. Has any legalised paedophilism? Totally No. Does homosexuality corrupt public morals? Yes it does. But not more than heterosexuality does. Are you disgusted by the act of homosexuality? Well, you're allowed to. But if you're disgusted at the slght of a curb of corn, would you say anyone who eats a corn be punished? Your guess is as good as mine. Check, if your religion makes you prejudicial and anti- human, drop them. |

Teempakguy: In order to understand mass, we need to understand WHY we need mass.
A few centuries ago, people noticed that it was harder to push some objects than others. i mean, if you go to a supermarket, and you have one of those trolleys, you'll notice that the more things you put into the basket, the harder it is to push.
So, people needed to find a quantity that could describe the ability of objects to do this. and so, they came up with mass. at first, mass was just the amount of resistance a body put up to a force. how much a body would push back if a force acted on it.
and then they found that that mass was actually the amount of elemental particles, such as electrons, protons, and neutrons(NOT ATOMS). it's just one of those co-incidences. trust me, there was a time that no one had any idea of why some objects had more mass than others. it was just another fact of nature they had to accept. just like we now have to accept that the speed of light is the limit. despite the fact that we have no Idea why.
Weight, on the other hand, is what happened when some guys decided to use Newton's force equation on gravity.
F = ma.
Weight is the force that a gravitational field exerts on a body. and since the gravitational force is proportional to mass, you can use it to guess what the mass is.
tell me, if you were in your kitchen, how do you know if a sugar cube is full without opening it?
simple, You just lift it. it's weight will register on your hand. because of the earth's gravity pulling it down.
But what if you were in space? Oh no . . . of course, all you have to do is shake it. a full sugar packet will resist motion more than an empty one will. and that's the mass registering.
Hopefully, I made sense. A lot of sense. Thanks. |

this was exactly the same mistake the ancient men did, they invoked God(s) to answer every question they didn't understand which up till today we are now cleaning up that mess and trying to correct that wrong impressions.
E.G: what causes rainbows Bible: God put it there as a reminder Science: Rainbows are due to refraction, reflection and dispersion of light in water (atmospheric water)
We have been battling to correct the naive impressions of the ancients using deities to explain what they yet don't understand but remarkable some humans still want to perpetually keep us in that primitive again of ignorance

HardMirror: Mass is directly proportional to the atomic mass of elements contained in any compound. This is the reason why you can have same volume of 2 elements and they still weight differently. To make it easy for you let me explain with a bucket.
Imagine a bucket filled with cotton wool and another bucket filled with water, which would be heavier? The bucket of water of cause. This is because water has more mass than cotton wool.
Case 2 to demonstrate difference between mass and weight
Now imagine that same bucket inside a well. When the bucket is under the water, you will discover that it is easy to pull it up, but immediately the bucket gets above the water level in the well as you pull, it gets heavier suddenly. The weight increased because water around the bucket was aiding in counter-acting against gravity through Buoyancy.
So even though the mass remains the same under the water and outside the water, you experience more downward pull because of gravity.
Same thing with if you are in a swimming pull. You feel lighter, even though your mass did not change, but the downward gravitational force is greatly reduced. Thanks boss... This is enlightening.. I appreciate.. |
