GrizzlyBear: Thanks for your contributions, sir. I have few more questions.
How is it that christians are able to counter these "juju" by calling on their God? Why do some powers fall at the foot of certain religions when these religions draw power from their god? Christianity for instance?
Can this theory still be used to explain the existence of ghosts?
What about "demonic activity" and exorcism? How is exorcism effective?
Decentpee: if u knew the hw important God is in ur life, u won't be saying all this... Firstly. Do u think life is a place settlement? Yeah, God created all things out of nothing but by his words. In the beginning God has better plans 4 us...but the sin of our first parent (adam and eve) brought sufferings and death to the world. God so merciful, sent his only begotten son to redeem the world n whosoever believe in him will never parish but have eternal life. See, this is life and there is eternal life... So it ur call to make, it ain't by force to make heaven but its the best choice... Warning: watch wat u say about God, so not to blasphemy cos it a sin against the holy spirit and it can never be 4given,,, we are the cause of our problems, the more we sin, the more the plight we passing tru.
if there's anything that is omnipresent, it might just be matter . . .
if there's anything that is omnipotent, it might just be energy . .
if there's anything that is omniscient, it might just be nature . . .
if there's any god, it might just be us . . .
cooltobex: Sorry, but I don't understand these questions of yours... I'll try to answer them to the best of my ability... 1. God can't plan evil for us - yes. He's good, perfect, holy, and has no trace of darkness in Him. 2. Yes, God can allow have something outside His plan for us, not because He wills to happen or that He can't stop it, but because ultimately the devil still enjoys some level of freedom and influence on earth, and so too do humans. In addition to this, humans predominantly operate outside his plan. That's why we are in such mess in our world! I hope I answered your questions!
Isaiah 45: 7
I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and disaster; I, the Lord, do all these things.
cooltobex: True. God already knows what we need, what we think, and what we would ask for in prayer. Yet, His word says, "ask, seek, knock". Why? Because we're humans, and we have the power of choice! God knows I need something, but until I ask Him or give Him the (legal) authority to give it to me (which is like God coming into my life business), He'll hold His peace, He doesn't intrude. Remember, we'll give account of how we've lived our lives eventually, so it is imperative that everything that happens to a person he is responsible for it. God will NEVER force His will or power or provision or anything on you; you'll have to want and desire it for Him to give you, so when God asks you to give an account of everything, you'll have no excuses. So yes, God knows everything - but we'd still have to ask Him! As long as you're on earth, it's your life to live!
The experience of Paul, the biblical apostle would disagree with you on this...
Joagbaje: Thanks op. The bible never said the earth is 6,000 years old it's just an assumption . The earth after Adam is about 6,000 years old . But the world is billion of years
So, there was an earth before Adam?
and when Genesis 1:1 says "in the beginning, God created heaven and earth.." God meant a prologue earth? an interlude?
I'm sure some of your theist friends are reading your post with utter bewilderment..
hahn: Genesis 3:6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.
"Studies on the demographics of atheism have concluded that self-identified atheists comprise anywhere from 2% to 13% of the world's population, whereas people without a religion comprise anywhere from 10% to 22% of the world's population" - The World Fact Book: Religions
"16% of the world's population is not affiliated with a religion, while 84% are affiliated." - Pew Forum on Religion; Public Life. The Global Religious Landscape.
(Those are Demographic References btw)
However/Whenever you see it, atheists are the minority. I don't need to stress how much significance a majority count holds when trying to determine who's successful and who's not.
Btw, you claimed religious people are the ones who started the "chain of claims". After all these years, the inability of the disclaimers/atheists to stop this "chain of claims" that theists started is the real failure and shows on the atheists' part. While the ability to keep the "chain of claims" alive is true success on theists' part.
In other words, you atheists will have to totally stop this chain of claims that we theists have started before you even consider yourselves successful at what you're doing. Sadly [for you guys], as of now, you have a loooong way to go Well, except you find it fun in wasting your time.
Sorry if I'm using "chain of claims" too much, I'm starting to like that term
Lol. Nice facts.
You're right though. Atheists are in the minority, no thanks to a very hostile community.
Myself was in church today sef. Infact, I read the Bible Reading.
So, don't even trust your fellow brethren.
The folk is dwindling up.
Whatever is good sha.
There's definitely no hard feelings.
We were first human before we become theists. So, humanity over anything else.
Strawman: Well this is not my position anyway, so I will not linger on that. However, for this "chain of claims" to be going on even till now, after so many centuries, it just shows how unsuccessful the atheists' attempts at disproving religion has been so far
Lol. classic confirmation bias.
This also shows how futile the theists apologetics has been.
Even their threats of hell and rave hasn't helped.
Strawman: In any forum, by simply creating a new thread trying to disprove God from out of nowhere, the atheist has started his own chain of claims. For example this thread was created as a result of other atheist threads trying to disprove God. You can browse through Nairaland all day, you'd see that the oldest thread (well the oldest thread I've seen) relating to this "chain of claims" is an atheist thread trying to disprove or ridicule religion, and not a thread trying to prove Him instead.
I just can't fathom you people's fixation to an entity you believe to be non-existent, but whatever tickles your fancy sha..
winner01: You have evaded the basic question: What are you doing here?. Do you have problems with simple instructions or are you here to convince yourself that there is no God.
You'll have to own the forum to preclude my interaction from it.
As I said, its a religion section not a Christian section.
Whether I have a belief or not is not something you should concern yourself with.
Go and check the Islamic section, you'll hardly find an atheist there.
If that's what you want, cry to seun.
or cry to God, hypothetically, there's nothing he can't do.
Strawman: If atheists are cocksure that God doesn't exist, why don't they close their eyes and allow religious people continue in their delusion?
All their efforts at disproving and ridiculing God, shows that atheists are also threatened and insecure.
Your post works both ways
Let me simplify this.
If theists don't keep going around saying a god exists, atheists won't have to say he/she doesn't.
See, it is a chain of claims triggered by a theist.
Have you seen anyone going around here saying a dancing mukeke doesn't exist? That's because no one has made the claim yet.
If anyone believes in an entity so much that he engages in public evangelism and proselytizing, the least he should do is atleast show reasonable proof to believe alongside him.
winner01: The picture below says share your belief, not disbelief. Are you here to share your belief? . You claim not to have faith or belief. What exactly are you doing here.
Did I share any belief with you?
Like I said, if your faith can't withstand any more scrutiny, you know whom to cry to.
Your cousins have done the same, now they have a whole section to themselves.
winner01: Ive been opening threads for my brothers and i noticed that atheists launch threads against christianityand also ridicule christians with little or no reply from the christians. This will do more harm than good to those watching from the sidelines. Normally, I keep my belief to myself. And i try to share my belief with other believers. And i also believe that this section has been created for that purpose. So saying that i want to influence you in the tenets of my faith is laughable cos you shouldn't be here to begin with.
I want to share my belief with my brothers on a section that has been created for that purpose. I cant hold my peace on a religion section. An atheist asking me to hold my peace on a religion section is a joke. I got nothing to prove to you. If i wanted to prove God to anyone, i'll be on reddit.
You missing something.
This is religion section. Not Christianity section.
If you want an exclusive section to yourself, you know whom to whine to.
KingEbukaNaija: anyway young man tell your brothers to stop opening new accounts and flooding Nairaland with their petulant complaints . Atheists are a small community of fools - embrace your delusion and stop giving a semblance of a growing community
This is entirely your opinion.
I could easily make similar remarks about you likewise.
KingEbukaNaija: I got 10 mentions today in the morning from atheists who opened puerile discursive threads . Now answer me , who is the insecure one . Am not cos I ignored all . If you atheists want to be st.upid with the shallow soporific arguments , just dont tag me .
Seeing that you just featured in my mentions too, you're guilty of what you wrote above.
