Nice one bro! Are the 605 and the 406 yours too? My dad got a new 504GL in '76. That was a great ride. I really missed the car when he Exchanged it for a new 504GR in 1980, the difference in performance was clear. |

Siena: This is an I6 2.8 from a W124. Similar to the issues with the W126, which is a V8, as you pointed out. Thanks,I'll look into your suggestion, don't want to derail this thread any further, keep those pics coming! |

Someone I know actually cut them off and welded them back on, but I'm reluctant to interfere with the original factory welds:

Siena: That makes engine removal much easier then. I'm working on a W126 500SE atm and the radiator support is welded on. It means that the engine has to come out at a mad angle.. it's a real PITA. The pics are from when I was stripping one of my W124's. [img][/img] |

I was wondering, Siena - how did you deal with the front upper and lower cross members when taking out the engine? I'm assuming they were welded on? |
Hi All, I do however have a few questions which i would appreciate if they are answered by the pros on this section (as regards the mechanical questions) and the dealers (as regards pricing). I will make the final decision based on all of your expert advice... Thanks in advance. [/quote W124 E500 is one of the best Mercs you can get. I'd recommend the facelift E500 from 1994 onwards. The problem with the UK ones is Rust, but if you have access to some of the really good body guys I know exist in 9ja you can take a risk. Other wise pay a bit extra for a rust free example I've had W124's for many years and I do all engine work myself. With the right tools and a little patience you'll be fine. The M119 engine uses the HFM ignition system, which I find much easier to maintain over the Bosch K- Jetronic systems of the pre facelift models If you do decide to get one, I suggest you ]subscribe to MB's online parts catalogue. It will give you all the correct part numbers for your actual car (enter your chassis number). All parts are available from MB, even though the local MB dealer may not have them in stock, you can ask them to order direct from Germany on your behalf, or ask a friend in Europe or the USA to order the parts for you. MB is brilliant in this regard, they have parts for all their models even going as far back as the 60's. Another good source of knowledge is the BenzWorld forum If you're looking at getting one, better move quick! their prices are set to go through the roof as they become more and more rare. A couple, who could not have children, have been told by the High Court they can keep a baby born in Nigeria, despite tests showing they were not the child's biological parents. The mother said she was tricked by a doctor into believing she had given birth while sedated, after she went to Nigeria for fertility treatment. The local authority had claimed the couple's story was a "charade". But the judge ruled they were victims of an "appalling scam". The presiding judge Mr Justice Coleridge added the case was "extraordinary, bizarre and worrying". Charities meanwhile have raised concerns about the judgement, warning it may encourage trafficking. 'Desperate and distressed' At the High Court on Thursday, Mr Justice Coleridge ruled that the pair, who he described as people of the "highest calibre", should be given custody of the girl who is nearly two years old. The couple - who live in London but cannot be named for legal reasons - failed to conceive a child despite undergoing IVF treatment in the UK. They were said to be "desperate and distressed". In 2010, the couple travelled to Nigeria where the women received fertility treatment at a private clinic. She told the court that when she returned to the clinic months later she was sedated. When she regained consciousness she was handed a baby and told she had given birth. On her return to London, a GP raised concerns. The child was taken into care and a DNA test proved the child was not related to the couple. They then launched legal proceedings to get custody. At an earlier court hearing the local authority argued that the couple's story was a "charade", and they were "knowing and willing participants" in the scheme. The court was told that such "baby exchange" frauds were common in Nigeria. Police and immigration officials in the UK are believed to be investigating several incidents. But Mr Justice Coleridge decided the pair were victims of the "most appalling scam". He described them as "people of the highest calibre and of complete integrity". He added he was "deeply impressed by their humanity". On Thursday he awarded the parents custody of the child, ordering the local authority to return him to them within seven days. The judge also made it clear the case was not an isolated example. He spoke of other cases before the court "on almost identical facts". He said it was in the public interest for this case to be widely known. 'Unscrupulous people' The local authority involved - which also cannot be revealed for legal reasons - said they were "disappointed" with the judgement. "Our concern has been, and continues to be, what is in the best interest of this young child. "We will now do all we can to ensure the child continues to thrive." Elsewhere, some charities have expressed concerns that the judgement will have a wider negative effect and will encourage traffickers. Andy Elvin, chief executive of Children and Families Across Borders, said: "These unscrupulous people will exploit people for vast amounts of money." He added there is likely to be an upsurge in applications for visas for babies coming from Nigeria. "Behind every one of these children lies an actual birth mother. She has been coerced, she may have been kidnapped or raped. "These children are not given up willingly http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-19996987 |

mpmp: Why is everybody whining about men/women OF NIGERIAN ORIGIN representing other countries. Is it wrong to do so? I for one, am quite proud of the fact that the Nigerian Diaspora is representing loud and proud across the world. Stats wise, atheletes of Nigerian descent make up 3% of Team GB (17 out of 541). Just goes to show our potential if the government put sports development before self interest and politics |

The Year: 1991 The road: E34 Eindhoven to Duisburg The car: BMW 750iL Speed: 235 km/h That ride was so solid, it was as if we were doing 80km/h. The speed was only apparent when you looked at all the other cars as we zipped past. If you have to go fast, do it in a solid German tank. At some point in the near future, I shall be taking my 500SE to the Nurburgring to test its limits. 2 Likes |

Three men have been found guilty over a shooting in a south London shop which left a five-year-old girl paralysed. Thusha Kamaleswaran was shot in the chest and Roshan Selvakumar, 35, was shot in the face at Stockwell Food and Wine shop in Brixton last March. Nathaniel Grant, Kazeem Kolawole and Anthony McCalla were found guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent. They were also convicted at the Old Bailey of attempting to murder Roshaun Bryan. The court heard the gunmen were trying to shoot Mr Bryan, a suspected rival gang member, when Thusha and Mr Selvakumar got caught in the crossfire. The pair were the innocent victims of a gang feud. Bullet fragments Prosecutor Edward Brown QC told jurors: "The reality of this shooting may be that, whilst there was an intention to kill the suspected rival gang member, the gunman and his accomplices couldn't have cared less if someone else was shot too." Nathaniel Grant, Anthony McCalla and Kazeem Kolawole will be sentenced in April Thusha's heart stopped twice before doctors were able to save her. She has spent most of the last year in hospital and doctors say she will never walk again. Roshan Selvakumar has been left with bullet fragments permanently lodged in his head and the court heard if the bullet had been slightly to one side, he would have died. Thusha's mother Sharmila Kamaleswaran wept as a victim impact statement she had written was read to the court. It stated how the shock of seeing her daughter on a hospital bed "took my heart away". 'Complete disregard' The statement went on: "She says the impact of this incident remains unbearable to the family. "She describes how Thusha was before, always happy and smiling. A child hopping around like a rabbit now paralysed." Five year-old Thusha Kamaleswaran was shot in the chest Speaking after the verdict, Daren Streeter, of the Crown Prosecution Service, said: "This case is a shocking example of how gun crime can devastate innocent people's lives. "The three men showed a complete disregard for public safety. They left a young girl seriously injured." He continued: "We had to show the jury some harrowing footage of the incident and I thank them for all their care and attention." The jury did not know Grant, 21, had been acquitted of a murder three months previously. In August 2008, innocent student Ryan Bravo, 18, was gunned down as he bought milk in a Costcutters shop in Walworth, south London. Grant, of Camberwell, Kolawole, 19, of Kennington, and McCalla, 20, of Streatham, will be sentenced on 19 April at the Old Bailey. Detectives watched approximately 700 hours of CCTV from 150 cameras as part of their investigation. 'No remorse' It helped them show evidence of the defendants' clothing and movements in the run-up to the day of the shooting, the day itself and the day after. There was footage of McCalla on his bike minutes before the incident mimicking a ride-by shooting. Det Supt Gordon Allison said: "This was a difficult and distressing case to investigate bearing in mind Thusha was just five years old - a baby. "Roshan Selakumar also suffered catastrophic injuries when he was shot in the face. "Both he and Thusha were innocent victims caught up in McCalla, Grant and Kolawole's intent on committing violence that night." Det Supt Allison added: "The shooting caused widespread shock and disbelief but they have never shown any remorse for their actions." Officers who worked on the case were so moved by Thusha's plight that they are taking on the Three Peaks charity challenge to raise money for her care. Between 22 and 23 September, they will attempt to climb Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in Cumbria and Mount Snowden in Wales within 24 hours. They are asking the public to donate to a fund they have established for her. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-17300327 |

http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/breaking-news/aussie-woman-scammed-nigerians-court/story-e6freonx-1226279598283 A BRISBANE woman fleeced Nigerian scam artists by stealing more than $30,000 from their internet car sales racket, a court has been told. Sarah Jane Cochrane-Ramsey, 23, was employed by the Nigerians as an "agent" in March 2010 but was unaware they were scam artists, the Brisbane District Court heard today. Her job was to provide an Australian bank account through which they could funnel any payments they received through their dodgy account on a popular car sales website. Cochrane-Ramsey was to keep eight per cent of all money paid into her account and forward the rest to the Nigerian scammers. However, the court heard she kept the two payments she received - totalling $33,350 - and spent most of it on herself. The car buyers who were ripped off reported the matter to police, who traced the account to Cochrane-Ramsey. Police inquiries found her employers were based in Nigeria but had been using a web server in New York to run their dodgy car sales listings. Cochrane-Ramsey pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated fraud on Thursday. Judge Terry Martin described her as having a "dishonest bent" after hearing she had a history of stealing and property offences. He adjourned the sentence to allow her time to provide further details of money she claimed was in a bank account that would allow her to make some repayments. Cochrane-Ramsey will be sentenced next month. She was allowed bail until then. |

so basically 1. GEJ has little control over police and army. 2. He is now relying on Isreali mercenaries for personal security For me personally, his inability to address the nation or visit the bombed areas is a telling sign of the weak position he is in. I give him 2 months, tops, in the current situation |

Come to think of it, these grammatical disasters are not only errors in English, but also in pidgin. There's nothing wrong in communicating in pidgin, but at least it has to make sense, innit? ![]() |
