Igbo group condemns October 1 sit-at-home order
27-09-2020
An Igbo group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly Worldwide, has condemned the sit-at-home- order issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra for October 1.

The day is set aside for Nigeria's Independence anniversary.

In a statement by the President General of the group,Chief Basil Onuorah( a lawyer) on Sunday in Awka, the Anambra State capital, it called on members of the public to ignore the order and go about their normal businesses.

The Corporate Affairs Commission, had withdrawn the registration of Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly Worldwide shortly after its registration, apparently because of its name conflict with the Chief Nnia Nwodo-led Ohanaeze Ndigbo

In the statement on Sunday, ONGAW described a sit-at-home- order on a day the country is marking her independence anniversary as an insult to the late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe and others who achieved the country's freedom in 1960.

The statement read in part, " A call for sit at-home on Nigeria's Independence Day (October 1st), in South- East zone of the country is an aberration and insult to Igbo heroes who fought for Nigeria's independence with all their might.

"The efforts of Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe and all our heroes past can never be in vain. Ndigbo in Nigeria and the diaspora are hereby enjoined to ignore any purported order for sit-at-home on October 1st 2020.

"The apex Igbo sociocultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly Worldwide states firmly that the organization is not in support of the October 1st sit -at-home order.

"Any publication or gathering in the name of Ohanaeze Ndigbo anywhere in Nigeria or abroad without the due approval or recognition by the current National Executive of ONGAW amounts to impersonation and such conveners will be decisively dealt with. All Security Agencies are hereby informed to please take note.

The Indigenous People of Biafra had declared October 1 a sit-at-home day, stating that the decision was to avert possible mass killing the people of the area who might gather to celebrate Nigeria's 60th Independence day.

The Publicity Secretary of the Nwodo-led Ohanaeze Ndigbo,Uche Okpaga, reportedly backed the IPOB's order.

“If IPOB said so, we are supporting it. They are our children. We are supporting it since it is not against the law and so far as it is not a violent act. it is obtainable anywhere in the world. So, we are totally in support of it," Okpaga reportedly stated.

Politics / Re: Opinion About The Attack On Tinubu And Godfatherism by Brooklynsouth(f): 2:02pm On Sep 27, 2020
Bodexman:
In the recent weeks, we've seen several attacks on the personality of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, mostly by the igbos. One would wondered the reasons behind the attack.
Firstly, Tinubu has never ruled any of their states nor cross the path of their leaders to warrant such attacks. The Igbos have taken up important positions within the Lagos State government circle simply because of this same Tinubu, while some of them have been pushed to the federal level.
This same Tinubu left government in 2007, and since then decided to work on himself and became influential while some of his then colleagues left for the senate while others were looking for federal appointment. He never jostle for any, rather he elevated others instead for those positions. That is what leaders are made of.

You don't become a leader by taking up every positions or opportunity thrown at you, rather you empower others to get there.

"Leaders made men" and that's what Tinubu is.

People have been saying his men are everywhere in government occupying top positions. It was so because he decided to give it out and help others instead of occupying it. This is a man who has never been a federal appointee before and you wondered why Tinubu is influential? Do you think his colleagues are not envious of him and wish to do same? I read in a newspaper page some couple of years back where Gov. Okowa of Delta State celebrated Tinubu on his birthday, a full page space paid by the Delta state govt. Isn't that influence? Tinubu has his men even in the PDP, I mean real men

So why won't people see him as a godfather? They also forget that Tinubu is not just one man. He is simply surrounded by men who he also listen to

Do you know that the Lionel Messi & Cristiano Ronaldo of Nigeria politics today is Tinubu?

The PDP will rather let go of Obaseki or Wike if Tinubu decides to join them today, and that's the bitter truth!

Many people shouting down at him will do worse if they are to be in his position.

Finally, I have noticed that the attack on Tinubu from mostly the Igbos is because of 2023. They know the man is the major stumbling block for them if they are to win the presidential contest, hence the need to whittle down his power and influence. They simply can't point to a man who can stand shoulder to shoulder with him, hence the beef and noise everywhere.

They shout the Yorubas are slaves to Tinubu, yet they have some useless godfathers in their region who failed to help them develop their states, yet they never bother to dethrone them, but Tinubu is their major problem. The leave their region in droves so as to seek greener pastures in a state controlled by this same man they love to hate while theirs in a sorry state.

When are they going to stand up to their godfathers who are starving their states and milking their region dry at the detriment of the people?

They claim they don't worship men, they are liberal, yet one certain Kanu came from nowhere whose achievement in the corporate world cannot match that of Tinubu even before he joined politics in any way, he played on their intelligence, extort them and run away. The man assumed the position of a god to them during his short stay here, though many of them still worship him today.

Godfathers are everywhere. Even in your locality. In Nigeria politics, when one godfather is dethrone, another emerges. Mr Ibori is still there controlling Delta politics. Wike is simply going to be one, the list goes on and on.

If as a Yoruba man, you're still thinking that the reason behind the attack on Tinubu is because of godfatherism, you're making a mistake, IT IS SIMPLY BECAUSE OF 2023.

Olabode from Lagos.

Politics / Re: Tinubu Will Make Nigeria One Of The Best Nations In The World- Ajomale by Brooklynsouth(f): 7:16pm On Sep 11, 2020
bolaayenimo:
Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos

Chief Henry Ajomale, former chairman of the Lagos State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC), on Friday said Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the party’s National Leader is the best man to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

Even though Tinubu, a former governor Lagos, has not declared his intention to contest, many of his loyalists have started mobilising for him while many groups have also been formed in anticipation of his declaration.

Speaking in an interview with INDEPENDENT, Ajomale said if elected President, Tinubu will turn Nigeria around for the better exactly the way he did during his eight years reign as Lagos state governor.

“I am in support of the fact that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is the best man to succeed President Buhari in 2023. I will support that without any hesitation because Asiwaju Tinubu has traversed the whole country.

“He knows where the problems of each constituent are and the solution to it. These problems are diverse because the problem they have in Ondo is not the same as the one in Kano state.

“Tinubu was a governor and we know the role he played in the development of Lagos which makes it envy to other states. If a man can develop IGR from N600m to billions of naira.

"Even when the monthly federal allocation to Lagos state was stopped by Obasanjo, he was still running the governance of Lagos seamlessly.

“I believe if given the opportunity, he will turn Nigeria around for better. If people like Babachir Lawal from Adamawa and Tanko Yakassai can be rooting for Asiwaju, it goes to show you that the man is a pan-Nigerian.

“I am not saying he is a saint or he is perfect. There is nobody who is perfect except God. You may not like his face but you should like the idea and experience he has to make Nigeria better.

"He is a financial expert and so there is nothing the Minister of Finance can tell him that he doesn’t know.

“He knows where the money Nigeria needs is hiding and he can bring it out. That is the type of person Nigeria needs now.”

Ajomale also appealed to Nigerians not to make the mistake of electing former Vice- President Atiku Abubakar, who was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections.

According to him, while Tinubu wants to turn Nigeria around to becoming one of the best nations in the world, Atiku’s motive is only to acquire power without a clear-cut agenda on what to do with it.

“We should not make the political mistake of putting somebody who has been contesting for the presidency for more than 20 years and he knows he cannot do it. He just wants to acquire power and after getting it, he has no idea about what to do".

“Let’s settle for somebody who has the interest of the people at heart, who can turn things around and make Nigeria become one of the best nations in the world. That person is no other than Asiwaju Bola Tinubu”.

This man's tale tells you why it is difficult to be a good person in Nigeria. Silence of citizens are a huge part of the problem. Think about it, what exactly is the crime of Mailfiya? What?

Has the security agencies investigated and confirmed his allegations to be false? Have suspects been questioned? Has the killings stopped? Has Mama Taraba (Aisha) who allegedly said same some time back been invited to help with the investigation? So why the hounding of the Mailfiya?

This is exactly how this country got where it is - Silence of good people. Silence of good people is worse than the injustice of the bad ones.

Last week, Abdul was arrested. Since he is Muslim of northern extraction, we kept quiet. Wetin concern us, we said? 3 days ago, Tope was bullied, arrested & detained. We are quiet because he's Yoruba, supports Tinubu who contributed to the foisting of the government. Only Chinedu is left and he's arrested for insulting Buhari on FB. Who would speak up for Chinedu? Our collective silence is as evil as the act injustice peddlers in the land.

Nigerians should not be quiet about Mailfiya's case. It's been a long time anyone spoke up the way he did. It has & would rob us of people who want to speak up against evil, knowing that no one would eventually speak up for them.

Okay...

PMB is facing one of the problems of 'Not taking the bull by the horn'.

If we were to be truthful with ourselves,Buhari may not be the Mastermind behind all those killings.

But because he has refused to speak up as the president of a country when mass killings are(were) going during his own administration,I don't know what he was inadvertently telling the outside world.

Nevertheless,if he has a hand in the killings...
I'd rather not say what awaits him.
