Business / Re: Nigeria’s Inflation Rate Drops For Seventh Consecutive Month, Says Nbs by brownlolly(m): 11:14am On Sep 16, 2017
SpecialAdviser:
Think Nigerians think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nnamdi kanu is starting up a revolution that will right the wrongs in this country and he deserve our dear support.
You may not like his approach but the fact that his activity is trying to change the system should be your major concern.

The rich has always trampled on you which is why Nnamdi Kanu called Nigeria a zoo.
A government starts NPOWER programme in this 21st centrury that will pay u 30k per month.
You will be required to go to work on daily bases on 30k salary.

A plate of food is minimum N300 which amounts to N900 3 square meal per day.
This means that if you dont buy any other thing, you would save 3k per month.
Your entire savings in a year will be 36k not even enough to give u accommodation.
You have spent all your years in the university paying heavy fees to come out a miserable life.
You only have one option to take into crime or partake in corruption. Your pastor will
still brainwash u to pay him tithe from the money, what a jungle?

The rich keep on stealing from you and lobbying u to queue up to VOTE.
Time for revolution should be HERE. No more elections in Nigeria until it is restructured or broken.

There is nothing wrong in being together if equity and justice is ensured. If great leaders who are non nepotic leads people to the rightful path. If corruption is totally eliminated and country is ran like every other country.

We have a country where everyone is fighting for his tribesmen and no unity in attitude. An Hausa man remains a stranger in Igbo land irrespective of how he helps his habitual community. An Igbo man remains a stranger and becomes a target in the north irrespective of how he helps his habitual community. Same with Yorubas and other tribes.

Tell me our gain in being united when the proponents of such unity divides the country based on political gain through their actions and inactions.

Your graduates are taking up 30k monthly jobs and u tell me one Nigeria. Our children are deing on seas on their way to Europe, u tell me one Nigeria. Doctors have gone on strike. ASSU on strike, labour preparing, what a country?

One guy returned to my neighbourhood yesterday schooling on Cyprus, he is an idol of the street. How many people are in Cyprus? Whats their population?Indonesian exchanging palm oil with our crude oil, what a shame?

The issue is that those who are calling for a restructuring or break up are more patriotic. If one region cannot move forward, why would every other region be tied down on this hell hole called Nigeria?

Foreigners are enjoying our sweet and we keep quite. Ordinary Lebanese are whipping the ass your people in their own land and all we know is one Nigeria. Ghanaian embassy is already choked with applicants. South Africa and Kenya same. Zimbabwe is already deporting Nigeria ns. Chai, are we cursed. No food, no education, no basics amenities and we shout one Nigeria.

Nnamdi KANU method may not bee right to you but the result he is trying to achieve is extremely important to me. This is the right change. The change we seek and the change we must achieve whether the devil like it or not. Nigeria is a MESSED

That's not a revolution.

He's not carrying the whole of Nigeria along. He's preaching Biafra as a cause. Many other Nigerians don't believe in that.

What a nation even before clicking on ds topic I already expected one thing and I wasn't disappointed at all.

In my country Nigeria those that are trusted to save us will always be missing in times of emergency, they will only appear when d damage is already done.

Ds nation has nothing good to offer it citizens, it pains me a lot dat I find myself in ds mess of a country cheesy

This story is so wrong.

We attended to the fire. Lagos State fire service were first responders. LASEMA ambulance was on ground with a team, Federal Fire Service from Surulere Fire Station were on ground, and policemen from Alade division were there.

No lives were lost.

When we got there there was still fire in the buildings. We extinguished the fire and made sure there was no more fire in that building.

Apparently, the landlord's son got drunk and.....

I know what really happened there that night cos I fought that fire

My Child, I don't think the comments from commuters (in a public transport) who exude ''hate'' as you call it, upon seeing the massive buildings in Onitsha would be a yardstick for judgement. Those are not the people who would decide the fate of Ijaws when the chips are down. I studied in Japan and till today, I live one leg in Nigeria and one leg in Japan. You know what, each time we gather in a pub at Tokyo to drink, we curse Japanese that they're shot, they're this, they're that. But the truth is, I prefer a Japanese to a Nigerian because they're honest, hardworking and respect your opinion and rights. They built their country for prosperity but here we are not ready to speak the truth and face reality.

I quite agree with your point about the Japs. However, it doesn't change the fact that the people of the SS and SE are different in views, culture, geographical positioning, and orientation.

I'm not. But I lived in Bayelsa for a while and each time we passed through Onitsha I was amused by the words Bayelsans used to define Ibos. Unless you're living in self denial, the hate between both people is real.

Yorubas should not be blindfolded by (1) Osibanjo, Obasanjo, Fashola etc. are there for us (2) Any how Buhari shares it, even if he takes 70%, we must take 20% and may be SS & SE can share 10% THIS IS ILLUSION, and shall only tarry for awhile. YORUBAS should strongly, without conditions, align with SE, SS to actualize DEVOLUTION OF POWER OR TOTAL RESTRUCTURING. I don't want disintegration but every region should have freedom to better their roads, education, healthcare, social services, security and good life for all. The NORTH hates good life, they abhor prosperity and enjoy laziness. We should have regions where foreigners can crave to come and live in, pay fees to study our language and move freely at night unmolested.

You know why Yoruba people will not align with the SE (leave the SS out of this cos we dont have a problem with them. As a matter of fact, Bayelsans don't like Ibos and openly display their disapproval when passing through Onitsha), Ibos with the Biafran dream are full of hate of the Yoruba people and somehow think we are the reason for their misfortune. The same mistake they made that caused the civil war is what they are trying again. I understand that it is good to be passionate about your freedom and dreams, but you cannot be too overambitious like Icarus that flew too close to the sun with wings made of wax. Even when Obasanjo was President, we did not support our own. We knew he wasn't meeting our expectations. That's just how we are. Call us betrayers or any other name. We don't care cos regardless of what you think or say, we are progressing.

That's the mindset Ibos need to adopt. The ways of the wise.

This morning I saw a man fall down on the road in front of his shop. I walked to the place and I noticed he was unconscious but he was breathing. People who knew him didn't even bother to go near him.

I kept looking around and wondering what was going on, and it seemed like nobody was ready to help. So I bent down and tapped him to check if he was aware of his surroundings. He opened his eyes. Someone else joined me and we helped him up to his seat.

Afterwards someone came to me and told me the man has WARAPA (Epilepsy) and that it is forbidden to touch an epileptic when he's having seizures as it is contagious

Is this true?

The basic reason for sex should be to procreate. All other reasons are secondary and to some extent not religious. There was a man in the Bible tho I've forgotten his name, he had sex with his brother's widow and poured his semen on the floor.God killed him. That should be enough reason to show that sex shouldn't be all about fun.

So logically, you're saying that if you want 4 kids, you can only have sex 4 times in your entire lifetime? undecided

Intervention, however, did not come on time, leading to the heavy losses by the shop owners

So who do we blame for this? Buhari? Ajimobi? Or the useless fire fighters?

Mr/Mrs Whoever-you-are,

Respect firemen. No matter what, show some respect to that profession. Going into a fire to extinguish it is a huge risk and every single step forward into a burning building is in fact a walk in the hall of death. You don't know why they were delayed, but I can give you a very good example that happened last night.

We were turned out to a fire around Surulere. The caller mentioned a street in Surulere and we were there in less than 15 minutes, but the truth was that the fire incident happened in Aguda. It took us more than an additional 25 minutes to get the corrected address and get to the house and by that time, the whole house was burnt down. This happened around 1:00am.

Who was to blame?

Romance / Re: Nigerian Men Need To Understand That Some Women Have Financial Standards. by brownlolly(m): 8:02pm On Jul 01, 2017
Your post makes sense to some people.

Good for all of you.

Lubyna:
One thing I have realized from reading comments on this website is that a lot of men do not understand that some women have certain financial standards when it comes to dating, and nothing can make them lower those standards. So guys, when a lady says she can't date a broke guy, try to first ruminate on the information I want to pass across before deciding to label her with derogatory appellations.

When I say some ladies, this "some" constitutes a certain category of ladies. This category includes ladies who are ambitious, hardworking and goal oriented. They are aren't idle or ignorant. They are intelligent, well informed and most times are financially bouyant. These are the kind of women I am categorically referring to. If this kind of woman says she can't date a broke guy, then she is justified in making such statement, and any guy who insults her for making such statement or tries to refute her statement with the kind of pathetic comments I read here, is indeed pathetic.

How does anyone expect a woman who is working towards being financially successful and expending time and energy towards this goal, to settle for some guy who earns WAY less than she does? How can a financially ambitious woman lower her standards and spend years waiting for some guy "who has potential" to make it? Let me unpack this last statement because it's a bit radioactive. There are different gradations of potential and that's why I used quotation marks. There are men who have an education that confers a high competitive advantage in the job market, or skills that can catapult them to high rungs on the financial ladder. If a financially ambitious woman meets this kind of guy and he is working hard everyday to become financially stable and secure, then she can lower her standards a bit and grind with him, but only for a while. If after few months or years and this guy isn't making any progress and she decides to go, no one should blame her. Maybe the guy isn't smart enough or isn't just lucky enough. She has the right to leave him and find someone who is financially compatible with her. Yes.
But this only applies to men who have real potential, not some guy who just has a degree or skills and isn't taking diligent steps to improve his finances.

What most guys don't realize is that being broke or just having enough money to subsist, are indicative of certain traits women in general aren't attracted to. Traits like laziness, unintelligence, lack of ambition, bad luck, and a lack of good education. It's not the fault of a financially ambitious woman who is financially bouyant herself if she doesn't want to mingle with broke people, let alone date them.

Instead of dating a guy that has good qualities, the kind of women I am referring to would rather find financially bouyant and ambitious men like themselves, and then proceed to look for these good qualities. And YES they are justified in doing that. Abi is it only broke guys that have good qualities?

Lastly, if any guy is asking out women who don't fall into the category of women I am referring to, then such guy has low standards and deserves the rejection he is receiving from his fellow broke girl.

tete7000:

It was reported that the house was built in 1974, that might explain why some of those safety measures are not in place. Regulations guiding building construction then were probably not as stringent as they are now.

A building like this must have a fire safety certificate that can only be issued after it has been inspected and approved. This might be a terrorist attack.

DanseMacabre:
Holy sheet! People throwing themselves out of windows and high-rise floors to survive. The human instinct to survive is a very strong one: jumping to an uncertain fate to escape a certain fate.

Respect to the crowd that caught the baby. That was touching.

And sorry to add this, but I call it as I see it. If this were to be Nigeria, in all likelihood those people would have perished beyond redemption.

The fire service responded within SIX minutes, but could not fully contain the conflagration. Our own go tell you say water no dey, or na after house don burn finish you go come dey hear wi-wo-wi-wo. Speaking from personal experience.

On a last note, for those that think that all is green on the other side (the Western Hemisphere), how can you explain away a 20+ storey building having no fire alarm or water sprinklers, or emergency fire exits for that matter?

I have some questions for you

Where do you live?
Where's the nearest fire station to you?
Did you know that fire stations are supposed to be built beside every police station?
Do you know the fire service emergency number?
Do you have functioning fire extinguishers that are serviced when due?
What other safety plans and actions have you put in place in case of a fire emergency before the fire grows and the whole place is well alight?
Are you fire safety conscious? (Everybody should be trained to be fire safety conscious and of the basic use of fire protective equipment)

If you must know, as long as a fire engine is on-the-run, there is always water in its tank, and every water tank has a capacity, right?

Firemen are always eager to fight fire and save lives and properties but remember they are men like you and can only work with the limited resources they have. Ask your government when last a fire engine was bought in this country. I'm not talking about Lagos state cos they are an exception. Firefighters fight fire in this country without personal protective equipment and breathing apparatus, getting exposed to real danger. Imagine how much smoke they have to inhale and how many days they have to cough for.

My point is, blame the leadership and government...not the personnel.

I hope you learn to respect firemen who risk their lives to enter fires when people are running in the opposite direction.

you are right but what can a fire extinguisher do?

see the inferno

Fire has growth stages.

Ignition or incipient stage, Growth stage, developed stage. And finally decay stage.

The car was already well alight. That's the developed stage. Nothing coukd be done again except to starve the fire of available fuel. The extinguisher would have been worked when the fire just started.
