So I stole my friend's money and I got caught. The whole school of more than 1000 students heard the news. I was in SS2 and I had one more year to go. I always felt embarrassed till I graduated.

It was reported that the house was built in 1974, that might explain why some of those safety measures are not in place. Regulations guiding building construction then were probably not as stringent as they are now.

A building like this must have a fire safety certificate that can only be issued after it has been inspected and approved. This might be a terrorist attack.

The fire service responded within SIX minutes, but could not fully contain the conflagration. Our own go tell you say water no dey, or na after house don burn finish you go come dey hear wi-wo-wi-wo. Speaking from personal experience.


On a last note, for those that think that all is green on the other side (the Western Hemisphere), how can you explain away a 20+ storey building having no fire alarm or water sprinklers, or emergency fire exits for that matter?

I have some questions for you

Where do you live?
Where's the nearest fire station to you?
Did you know that fire stations are supposed to be built beside every police station?
Do you know the fire service emergency number?
Do you have functioning fire extinguishers that are serviced when due?
What other safety plans and actions have you put in place in case of a fire emergency before the fire grows and the whole place is well alight?
Are you fire safety conscious? (Everybody should be trained to be fire safety conscious and of the basic use of fire protective equipment)



If you must know, as long as a fire engine is on-the-run, there is always water in its tank, and every water tank has a capacity, right?

Firemen are always eager to fight fire and save lives and properties but remember they are men like you and can only work with the limited resources they have. Ask your government when last a fire engine was bought in this country. I'm not talking about Lagos state cos they are an exception. Firefighters fight fire in this country without personal protective equipment and breathing apparatus, getting exposed to real danger. Imagine how much smoke they have to inhale and how many days they have to cough for.

My point is, blame the leadership and government...not the personnel.

I hope you learn to respect firemen who risk their lives to enter fires when people are running in the opposite direction.

Fire has growth stages.

Ignition or incipient stage, Growth stage, developed stage. And finally decay stage.

The car was already well alight. That's the developed stage. Nothing coukd be done again except to starve the fire of available fuel. The extinguisher would have been worked when the fire just started.

I was gisting with my friend and he said he has dated ladies far older than him. He said he likes dating older women because they are more caring, mature and calm. He also said they tend to give quality advice, think more and act responsibly.

Thinking about that, I will say age is just a number. You can’t reallly choose who you want to fall in love with. You find yourself loving someone without planning it and you later get to know you are younger than her. Will you because of that say you should put an end to it. A big No…To me I think it’s even more romantic. Yeah…I dont see any big deal dating a younger guy or an older lady.

Honestly, a cougar is what every young man needs. The younger girls have nothing to offer except drama and long series of disappointments. It's not their fault. They just don't know what they want. I don't support the idea of just doling out cash and gifts to cubs so choose a smart one. The smart cub is fairly independent, stays loyal and is morally sound. And he is always ready to get freaky for his cougar.

The older women are more experienced morally, sensually, emotionally and financially. You won't have to worry about paying bills and booking hotels and you can save and focus on your future.

BTW, a decent cub should have his own cave and mea s of livelihood...or else you're just a gigolo

After a breakup , its normal for the used-to-be-couple to either stop talking, cut ties or even hate themselves.

Well, I'm going thru the exact same situation now. I still wake up some mornings (like today) and chat her up. Truthfully I'm not over her but it's just like a love story that was never meant to be. We got the call to the scene of the fire late when the vehicle was well alight but it was too late to save lives.

From all indications, the vehicle had been burning for more than 10minutes before we were called to the scene.

A Danfo bus conveying passengers summersaulted and bursted into flames killing 5 trapped passengers including a baby on Western Avenue, Surulere, Lagos. Three passengers were rescued and taken to the hospital. The sad incident happened early this morning during rush hour.

Let me just say that Nigeria is in a big mess.

Our parents and the older generation have failed us. If you like, say your parents are not included, but they are all responsible for this impossible state of hardship we are facing now.

I served in a community in ogbia and there was a time we had to visit ogbia town. This was in 2012. There are literally no toilets in that place. No pipe borne water, they bath, swim, shit, and play at the jetty. That's the source of water the even use for cooking!!

I'm not making this up. Anybody can go there and see for himself/herself.
