MeghaneMorgane: He cannot sha chase them out. Na the man cause am from the beginning, maybe he made his parents think it is only his money he was using. So how do you expect the parents to behave if he gave them the impression that it was all his money from the start. Because his parents seem like good people, for them to have actually built the house up to that stage. Also, this is the first person I’m meeting not considering putting his parents in his plans and planning a permanent accommodation for them while making plans of a permanent accommodation for himself and his immediate family. Na the man’s fault. He should have discussed everything with his wife from the beginning.
Anyway, as the situation is right now, maybe they need to talk to someone their parents will listen to, a pastor or someone else. Let the person talk to his parents. I wish him all the best Lol parents, pastors, typical cycle, o di woro si woro. Africa smh |

MeghaneMorgane: I wouldn’t. But you need to understand that there are irresponsible parents too. There are many irresponsible parents as much as there are responsible ones. So that your parents are responsible, you should appreciate them. Very good. Actions have consequences. Imagine the pressure the man is facing now. His marriage is also at stake if you haven't considered it too cos I am quite certain that the wife would have some resentment towards their action...and when she misbehaves later they'll start calling her a bad woman. Let them respect themselves and leave the house. That's the first thing they should do before they should even be considered. |

MeghaneMorgane: Your parents had a choice not to cut their dreams. They had a choice not to take care of you. They had a choice not to put in the effort to make you a responsible person in the society but they chose to do all these things for you. If they didn’t do anything to make you responsible, nothing would have happened too. You need to appreciate God for giving you good parents and you need to appreciate your parents for being good parents. You owe them gratitude all the time because if not for them and God, it could have been a completely different story. I'll ask you a simple question. Would you do all these things you mentioned to your own kids when (if) you have any? |

This thread makes me sick to my stomach.
Many people are being emotional about this.
Your parents should not have moved into your house. They should have asked for one from you since they didn't plan well enough to have their own house.
For those saying your parents suffered to raise you yenyenyen....total balderdash! They brought you to this world. They should have planned their lives well and maybe they wouldn't have suffered.
Adults should learn to take responsibility for their own lives first and foremost. Anything your child does for you should be considered as extra. You brought them to this world. They are your responsibility. |

You sound knowledgeable about this but you missed the first noticeable feature of the vehicle. It is a MAN Truck...not a Mercedes Benz as you claim. Fuckyoumod: 5m every month? To maintain what exactly?
Thief!
That is a Mecerdes Benz (Rosanbuar) Fire Tender. Price tag depends on the capacity and capability of the Fire Tender. N60m - N112m
Maintenance cost
1. Servicing every 6 months - Engine oil - 35 litres = 30k Oil filter/ Water separator/ Fuel Filter = N20k ATF - 6k
Total - 56k
2. Other Technical faults that can gulp up N1.7m at a go is the FR- Module, however FR-module can last for 6 - 15years without issues.
I can confidently tell you that the maintenance cost of this new brand Vehicles will not go beyond 500k within the first 1 - 2 years of proper usage.
The N5m every month is for what? 5m × 12months = N60m. In 24 months = N120m enough to buy extra 2 or 1 more fire tender. Lol.... Corruption will eventually kill this country.
Note - If this vehicle is not a refurbished vehicle, then with proper operation by competent people this vehicle is expected to go 2 - 4 years without any major fault.
Because a new Mecerdes Actros vehicle is not beans.
Also Note: it is an emergency Vehicle it does not ply on the road everyday only when the need arise.

Travel › Re: Did Mungo Park Actually 'Discover' The River Niger? by brownlolly(m): 10:14pm On Mar 21, 2021 |
Ademola47: #FactCheck
Who Actually 'discovered' the River Niger?
It's widely believed that Mungo Park 'discovered' the River Niger.
However, there are some unanswered questions to the 'discovery'.
Firstly, history had it that he 'asked' the locals (villagers) for direction to the river. If he was the one that actually 'discovered' the river, how come some people directed him there? Have they not been there before him? How can some people direct him to where he wanted to 'discover'?
Secondly, the locals are believed to be bathing, fishing and fetching water from the 'undiscovered' river. If he was the one that actually 'discovered' the River first, he should be the one to first bath or swim in the river. But this is not so.
Lastly, while some people believe that he discovered the River 'mouth', others believe he discovered it for the British. Why is there no generally accepted direct answer to the question "What did Mungo Park discover"? Truly, Mungo Park was the first European to discover River Niger. He wrote about his travel in his book, Life and Travels of Mungo Park in Central Africa. It is an interesting read that gives a very vivid and stark experience of life in Africa at a period that we have lost because of our ancestors inability to read and write their experiences during their period of existence. So, yes, Mungo Park discovered River Niger for England, but our people have always existed around the river all the way from Gambia |

PHijo: You want to throw English words around without understanding basic English. You said the current government is " somewhat more ethnocentric and radical ".
When you use the term more, it means you are quantifying the adjective, ethnocentric and radical.
If you choose a more ethnocentric person and you trust him enough to handle subsidy removal then you are a bigot.
The issue of subsidy removal should never have been an ethnic or religious issue but a financial issue for the country but bigots and political opportunists like you chose to sabotage the country on the alter religious radicalism and ethnic bigotry. I said "unfortunately we have entered one chance". Did you not read that? Did you actually read what I wrote? |

PHijo: If bigotry is not your problem then unbridled ignorance and stupidity was.
Buhari has proven himself to be the biggest bigot in Nigeria's history and has not been transparent as Nigeria's petroleum minister yet you trust him over a man that told you subsidy cost Nigeria a lot.
In 5 years Buhari has borrowed 20 trillion with barely anything to show for it.
The same Buhari who claimed Nigeria paid no subsidy has been paying subsidy as petroleum minister since 2015.
You don't like Jonathan because doesn't come neck of the wood, we understand that, stop hiding behind lies. I don't think you read my post. If you did, I don't think you are well educated. And if you are educated, your mind has been either been programmed to react without reason at the mention of the name Jonathan, or you are just as slow as Buhari. |

Dotherightthing: If only we had allowed GEJ's attempt at full subsidy removal in 2012 to stand!
Today, we would have completely forgotten about subsidy, government would have had more money, the Naira would have remained at 168 or less against the dollar, modular refineries would have sprung up all over the place, pump price may have dropped to less than NGN100, massive job creation would have happened etc etc
Unfortunately, some irredeemably dummb Nigerians forced GEJ to change his policy.
And the spineless GEJ too gave in!!
Now, deregulation would have to happen under Buhari and it's going to be more painful.
When GEJ removed subsidy, the pump price became N141. Crude oil price in the world market was around USD100. It could not get worse.
If Buhari removes subsidy, the pump price will become N216. Crude oil price in world market is around USD70. It may get worse.
So you see, Nigerians have been pennywise pound foolish... The problem with Jonathan was not really about the price but the degree of mass looting of public funds. Unfortunately, we have entered one chance with these same set of hoodlums waving a different flag with a somewhat more radical ideology of corruption and ethnocentrism |

The reason why Amotekun was created was to checkmate the surge in kidnapping and crime committed in the forests by criminal elements |

The last time I was in my hood with contemporaries I grew up with, I noticed that the men were already leaving from 5pm. Seemed strange to me until I heard about how things have changed. The younger generation (age 23 downwards) have taken over the streets and carry guns and cutlasses. They move in hundreds and nobody can stop them when they raid. No one is spared and anyone who challenges them may not live to tell the story. If you live around Agege towards Iju/Obawole you'd understand what saying. |

I've taken the test twice.
2015 Academic 7.5 2018 General 8.0
I found the general test much easier than the academic test, which was more technical.
You score the most points in reading and listening. Expect the lowest score in writing... from my experience. Work on creating a good impression with your interview during the speaking test. You may get non-verbal cues if you are so lucky.
Generally, comprehension is the key to passing the test. Ironically also, it is so simple and technical at the same time.
On the day of the test, take your time before you enter the hall. Make sure you are not pressed to go to the toilet, and not too cold from sitting for too long in the AC chilling hall. I think it's a way of making people anxious and distracted, so there's no need to hurry. The test won't start until everyone is cleared and seated. |

johnpablo541: The terms "fire engine" and "fire truck" are often used interchangeably; however, in some fire departments/fire services they refer to separate and specific types of vehicle
So why ignore the bolded, in previous statements i said fire trucks you said fire engine, i am showing you they mean the same thing Good observation. I'll take you back to my very first observation about the so-called fire engine created by IVM. By size, it doesn't qualify to be one. A fire engine is larger. A layman would call a firefighting vehicle a fire truck, a fire appliance, firefighting vehicle, or fire engine. But firefighter knows what a fire engine looks like. It's specification is different. I have worked with both archaic and modern fire engines, as well as rapid intervention vehicles and even water tenders which you would probably call water tanker. Its not just about fixing and fitting materials to create something that looks like a good vehicle. A lot of research work with data about terrain, climate, and temperature is considered before creating a fire engine. It is a delicate work and I don't think many African countries have the resources to create standard modern firefighting trucks. I'm not being pessimistic about this. I've seen substandard equipment breakdown and fail, and then they start blaming firefighters. I wish IVM all the best, but honestly, even the Hilux vehicles we've been using for years still function better than the IVM pickup truck we started using less than 2 yrs ago. True story. |
