Tunde,

How much is this hp510 going for?.

You also need to be more specific on what the config is. e.g. you have a min and max for the mem config - what is the *actual* config and price for that?.
Technology MarketRe: Buying P.s 2 by brume2020: 7:26pm On Aug 10, 2007
Hey Beneth,

What in your considered opinion is a very cheap price for a "good playstation 2"?

All new playstations are good - seeing as they are spanking brand new.

Are you looking for a good used playstation then?.

It would be easier to elicit a response when you clarify your request accordingly.

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate your decision to proceed further with this transaction and your offer to shoulder 50% of the risk upfront.

BTW - The total (100%) naira equivalent is approx. (127 * 25) i.e. =N=3175. This is based on an exchange rate of 127=N= to US$1.

Please contact me by email - my email address is on my profile. I will provide you further information when I receive your email.

Thanks

Technology MarketRe: Palm Reseller - Anyone? by brume2020: 2:46pm On Aug 09, 2007
Truth be told - no-one can trust anyone else they have met via an online medium until there is a previous experience (good or bad / their own or someone elses) they can draw upon to establish with a certain degree of confidence that they are comfortable (or not ) conducting a subsequent transaction with the party. As a result there is a significant risk of either of us reneging on a largely unenforceable agreement reached online.

Having said that the onus rests on each party taking appropriate steps to actively manage/mitigate risks and reduce any possible losses accruing from a worst case scenario.

Against this backdrop, if you were to pay in advance your worst case scenario will be - I wont deliver (and keep feeding you some cock and bull stories about delivery delays, back orders etc) and also refuse to refund your payment in the hope that you give up on your advance payment(i.e. 419) .

On the other hand if I were to accept payment upon delivery, my worst case would be your taking a rain check after the fact (i.e. changing your mind after item has been ordered/delivered) or otherwise failing to make full payment for some unfathomable reason (i.e. no cash, no longer reachable etc).

In this particular case I am deciding to accept all the risks, (i.e eliminating your risk). From my point of view this is a relatively small transaction (in the larger scheme of things) in which I stand to lose at most (US$25)
- actually I'll still have the charger (it is a universal charger after all with many possible other uses) and I could get value for it - it would only take longer than I originally planned to recoup my small investment.

While successfully completing this transaction wont buy me instant online credibility, I am anticipating that it will probably count someday/sometime when you (hopefully) suggest the service to someone else who requires a similar service.

You do bring up a valid point though with the trust thing (i also raised this issue with another poster earlier on)- and I am working on a near bullet proof system that would nail that in the bud. It may involve a "trusted" third party - but that will cause the costs to breach low
thresholds (you know - the low price threshold). I am really giving it some thought - because it has to be in place for any transactions of significant value.

Anyhow enough of this rant - simply yell if its a go (or no go) and we can take it from there.

Just keeping it real.

enjoy,

Africanboy,

It will probably cost about $20 just to get it physically into Nigeria from the US. Since its a small order it likely will attact shipping/handling charges even within the US.

Since this is an introductory service I am willing to do this at no profit - i.e for $25.

So if it is worth you while I'll do it for US$25 and you can have it in about 2 weeks.

You could down go that route. But the palm top is a portable device which you always want to carry around.

Now a step down transformer on the other hand is not exactly something you would like to be carrying around along with your palm top. You can carry it around though - dont get me wrong - its just plain inconvenient.

But hey, in the absence of any other alternative, perhaps a step down transformer is not such a bad idea.

You likely would have to look beyond the shores of Naija for such peculiar items. Few people buy those everyday. Could be wrong but I cant imagine that those items are commonly available locally in Nigeria. Check out these links :-

http://www.pantiltcam.com

http://www.x10.com/products4/overture/surveillance_cameras_g1.html

Are you looking for specific brands for these items?.
Technology MarketRe: Palm Reseller - Anyone? by brume2020: 1:41pm On Aug 07, 2007
Yup - your best bet would be to find someone going to the US to pick it up for you. I would offer to buy and ship it to you but shipping/clearing charges for a $5 item will make it not worth your while.
Technology MarketRe: Need An Irobot Roomba Discovery! by brume2020: 10:55am On Aug 07, 2007
texazzpete,

Sounds good.

My email address is now revealed in my profile. Send me an email and update this post that you sent email (so I get the Notification of your response from nairaland also).

Ideas are running thru my head on how to make this transaction run relatively smooth and painless. Holler at me and I'll get back with you.

peace.

Africanboy,

Have you found the adaptor you need for your palm zire 71.?

Below might just be what you need . It is an auto sensing (i.e. works for 120V and 240V) OEM (i.e Original Equipment Manufacturer - it is not manufactured by palm) product. Note that the USB cable is not included. You probably have one with the 110v adaptor that came with your palm.

It is currently retailing at that site for $5.35. If you want I can help you try to get it. Let me know.

Perhaps you meant to say "at most" 10-20k. even at that you may be able to get a "fairly used" one I guess. You are gonna have to look real hard at it though to make sure it has no gotchas.
Technology MarketRe: Laptop by brume2020: 2:27am On Aug 07, 2007
I think there is a missing 0 in your price range. you cant get a laptop for 10-15K period. maybe 100k - 150k
Technology MarketRe: I Need A Laptop by brume2020: 1:47am On Aug 07, 2007
What is your reference price/configuration?. Are you looking at any specific models?.

I,e, what are the details of the laptop you require and cheaper than what price?.

Your reqqest as it stands is rather vague - please provide more details of your laptop spec/ requied pricing. then it would be easy for anyone to compare apples to apples and give you a precise response.
Technology MarketRe: Dell Laptop Accesories Needed by brume2020: 1:36am On Aug 07, 2007
I think you need to provide more info in order to get a reasonable response.

What model of Dell laptop have you got?.

What are the part numbers of the compnents you require.?.

If you dont provide proper information you may order and receive the wrong item(s).

I have been looking to ship stuff to Nigeria. This may be a good way to start.

Its US$279.99 and as you see it currently comes(if bought with the current offer) with a free accessory kit worth $100 - which you also get.

I am willing to do it this once at cost(and learn the ropes this way). the only problems are :-

1. We need to find a risk-free(i.e. if I dont deliver you get your money back) way for you to make a commitment - ( so I dont get shafted if you do a re-think after I have shipped) to purchase the item .

2. We need to figure out how to get the item to you from the US without the total costs going through the roof on account of shipping and/or clearing Otherwise it wont be worth your while getting it this way.

You got any ideas?.

hit me up if you want to give it a shot. It would be nice to try this out - if it works and I can get more takers that would be great.
