I never thought of this happening too early. I have personally advocated for a review of the remuneration of teachers in private schools. Most of the school owners are very greedy and unreasonable when it comes to wages and salaries. I am glad that the forces of demand and supply couple with a comprehensive regulatory impact are going to bring forth great value. |
My condolences to their families. The match was too tensed yesterday. A Nigerian Journalist also reported another death of a Nigerian business man in Cote D'Ivoire. May God continue to protect us all. Let's also endeavor to check our blood pressure as recommended by health professionals. |
Well done Fisayo. |
You are absolutely correct @OP. The commentators also clarified it. Football is one very interesting sport. Congratulations to the Super Eagles of Nigeria. |
I am so sorry to hear this. May Allah grant him aljanat firdaos. Aamin |
Register on savings App like PiggyVest and Cowrywise. Do a monthly savings (automatic deduction) when salary enters. Then take a portion of this savings and investment in commercial papers or mutual funds on the Apps. The proceeds should give a minimum of 30% ROI per annum. This may be used to achieve your capital/mid term projects. Trust me just assume you earn 250k and ensure that you buy in bulk and also use commercial buses instead taking uber/Bolt most times. Your annual rent should also be reviewed if it is more than 500k annually. I wish you nothing but the best. |
This has been a norm amongst private school owners in Nigeria. The reason for this habitual exploitation by school owners is because the regulatory agencies are perhaps comprised. My younger brother got paid 50% of his December salary by a private school here in Lagos (Ebute Meta precisely). Guess what, the school has about 3 other annexes on Lagos Mainland. Until Government enforces a minimum pay value for these schools, I am afraid that the schools will hardly get competent teachers in approximately 5 years from now. Tech skills have become a life saver for undergraduates let alone graduates. To the school owners, It's high time they turned a new leaf and stop this evil of withholding staff salaries at the end of academic year and also at the end of the year. @OP I wish you the best of job offers soon. Keep learning and the sky will be your beginning. Thank you |
Well done @Seun and the Nairaland Team. I hope such oversight will not be experienced again. |
Yes Please. |
Congratulations to Nigeria. Congratulations Asisat and Victor. |
I am very sorry to hear this at @OP. We have been discussing this issue for a while and the unfortunate part is that most of these school owners have bribed the regulators (Ministry of Education and other agencies). I am waiting for someone to tell me that a particular private school other than the ones in Lekki its environs (3M per term school fee) remitted staff statutory deductions (Pension, PAYE, NHF, HMO, etc.) in the last 12 months. Funnily, they know how to pray and glorify the Lord in their various religion affiliations. Like the popular 'Portable' quote, 'Person wey go help you no go stress you'. It is high time that the Government intervened in the evaluation of the compliance level of these 'evil' proprietors/proprietress to the law of the land. But are they going to enforce it? |
Congratulations Agba Baller. |
This is a sad reality. This is mostly common with small and medium enterprises. Some employer will even expect you to tell them thank you when you receive your salary as if they were doing you a favour. Mind you Pension and other statutory deductions and remittances will not be made. I think only the IOCs and few multinational businesses are the few ones with positive feedbacks from their employees. |
May Allah forgive their shortcomings. This is really sad. |
Happy Independence Day to my brothers and sisters of Nigeria descent. May our country country to flourish amidst the current economic realities of the world at the moment. #proudlynaija 🇳🇬 |
That was 2013. Lagos to Nairobi. |
We have 774 local government and some LCDAs in Nigeria. if only other local government chairman could do this, it will significantly help vulnerable families. It looks small but will definitely amount to metric tons of relief foods across the nation. Kudos to Ikoyi/Obalende LCDA |
Family is everything. There is a lot to learn in this emotional story. |
They claim to be happy. What a terrible way of life. I am afraid of what the world will be like in 20 years time. I am not proud of them 😔 |
Nice write-up. Most of us are guilty of the Awoof Deals. |
Eid Al Adha Mubarak! |
The message will help all of us irrespective of your nationality. Obesity is a becoming an epidemic in the world and the astonishing phenomenon is that it is a gateway for other diseases like diabetes, cancer, strokes, kidney/renal failures and hosts of others. The medical professionals are already overwhelmed with such patients in the hospitals compared with those days when we eat less of these processed/junk foods. Thanks you OP for the enlightenment. Cheers. |
This is laudable as the world celebrates the World Environment Day yesterday. Together we can achieve COP goals. |
Unfortunately. most companies don't give a f*ck about all these welfare consideration. The regulatory agencies are not up to their task due to corruption and 'man-know-man'. |
This is very insightful. A lot of Nairalanders have recommended possible solutions to these challenges. This will not only help the OP but also other people like myself. It is never too late. Cheers! |
I am very grateful for the gift of life. It is a very long story. Alhamdulillah. May Allah accept it from us as an act of Ibadah. Aamin |
A lot of prospective employee have been exploited by this funny employers. We should do our due diligence before joining any corporate organization. Thanks @OP for the enlightenment. |
Professor Oloyede is one of the few honest academics and astute administrator we have in Nigeria. A man of integrity. Well done sir. |
Awesome! |
Congratulations to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory at the just concluded APC primary election. The question now is, who is a suitable candidate that can serve as his running mate? Over to the political gurus in the house. |
