OK, I now understand you were born an atheist, but I'm very sure you may have still experienced some conflict of choice when you began to learn about the existence of God. Prove me wrong please if I'm grin.
How could I possibly have "learnt about the existence of God" and then become an atheist?

No, I had no conflict at all, or shall I say, as much conflict as hearing people believe oyinbo rats talk.

Daviddson:
As for the last statement, I'm guessing you'll tell me your religion is love. But my question is "if for the atheist everything is subjective, how do you determine what constitue love or hate without putting God or God's law in the equation?
I have a mother and father and siblings too, and we all manage to love one another very well thank you. Ma was a nurse too, and pa a lawyer, and both had many opportunities to love the neighbours, which we saw and further learnt from.

I think you need to go and get educated about atheists, and subjectivity, before you throw your subjective opinion about. Here's a post on the art of making up crap in the head.

If you consider the amount of effort you need to put in to find a place to smoke and get rid of the smell off you once you're done, you'd find its lots of planning, planning, that would be more beneficial if put to better use.

Then consider cost. Its cheap in Naija but the quality is not up to much either. An eight of an ounce (less than 4gm), is ₦15,000 in some countries, and the high is much higher too, and despite your breaks, you'd eventually find you've developed tolerance levels and so need the stronger hits.

I'd very strongly advise you quit, or you'd be looking back one day considering what you could have done with all that time and money you burnt.

Jesus sits at the right hand of Power and the High priest knew Jesus' Claim to be the Almighty.
The High Priests of Yahweh knew Jesus was God and killed him anyway? huh

I wonder why they seem to have changed their minds afterwards since they never quite accepted that he was Yahweh.

Didn't Paul write that Jesus wasn't even so arrogant as to assume equality with God?

Hmmmm...I understand where you are coming from even though you may not be aware. I understand the internal conflict that may resulted in your becoming atheist at such an age, and even your trying to have a taste of "every" religion but then unable to really pitch your tent somewhere. Don't you think you deserve something better, once and final?
"Internal conflict? At 7? No you can't possibly understand anything about me, despite it being written on here somewhere, which if you'd read you would not have called it an "internal conflict", since it wasn't "internal" nor a "conflict". I was born an atheist in a society devoid of God and only got to hear of gods at 7 when I moved to a society where gods were.

As for your, "deserve something better", I'm going to have to put that too down to your lack of knowledge about me since you don't exactly know where it is that my tent is pitched.

Do note that I am not "trying to have a taste of "every" religion", and I'm perfectly happy with the one I currently practise, especially since it just happens to be common amongst almost all religions worth considering. Christianity places it so high that it even claims that doing so it pleasing to God.

Yes I know very little about you, and that's strictly from what I've read from your threads. Do you read the Bible strictly because you consider yourself a voracious and an inquisitive reader? Can I know what religion you subscribe to?
No, I do not read my Bible because I "consider" myself a "voracious and an inquisitive reader". I first read it aged 9 to get an understanding of what everyone called God, and read it for that same purpose so many years later, for understanding.

I'm religious by virtue of religiously engaging in religious discussions and do not subscribe to any particular religion. But if you insist, it would have to be the religion of 'love your fellow human being'.

Here is me engaging in Islam. If NL had a philosophy section I'd likely be there more.

Daviddson:
No; I don't mean thought of being a Christian, but thought in the direction that God didn't create you a Christian.

I'm glad to tell you that you cannot worship God on your own terms; you can't put up an idea of what you think God is, and then decide that is what you want to believe about Him. How would you even know what He approves or disapproves if your contrived idea of God is fundamentally wrong?

You'll have to answer the above question first before I answer your last question.
I note a judgement here, that I have "contrived", and might be "fundamentally wrong", and you say this with very little knowledge of me.

I was not born a Christian nor religious, and knew next to nothing about Yahweh until I was 7, and after hearing of God and studying the text myself I became an atheist. But I do not expect you to know any of this since you could not possibly have read all my posts, and you definitely have not engaged with me till now so I would expect you to know absolutely nothing about my relationship with God.

Thankfully, how I worship God or not is according to God and I and not anyone else, and the standard for worship is clearly laid out in the Bible for each and everyone to see. And as you can see in this thread, I am asking God, who alone judges, and not any human being.
Politics › Re: Buhari’s Victory As Atiku’s Shame by budaatum: 3:53pm On Sep 15, 2019
Many would not see any of this and claim Atiku lost because my bubu has the judiciary in his pocket. If only they could consider that Atiku did not get enough votes to at least make bubu's election more doubtful in a period where many Nigerians are screaming that my bubu took food off their table.

Personally, I love you my fellow Nigerians. Food on your table did not stop us using our collective brain to chose the lesser of two evils, and I'm trusting you'd let it help us chose wisely come '23.

LOL. That's not true - you don't need any person's approval or disapproval to become a Christian. And BTW if no other person here want you as one, I would. I have tried searching for that thread or post, but I was unable to. Are you saying you've never thought in that direction?
Thought of being a Christian? No, not really. Especially not after considering some of the things that some think qualifies one to be Christian, like believing, for instance, or some thinking their approval is required. I'm pretty happy being human. Least that way I'm subject only to the approval or disapproval of God.

Why would you want (I'm assuming you mean 'accept') me as one?

Daviddson:
I can't recall the exact thread, but it seems to resonate across all your comments on the Religion section.

Let me ask you a question: Are you a Christian? In fact are you a religious person at all?
Yes, I am religious. I am religiously on here. No, I'm not a Christian, at least not here. The Christians would not have me.

Do let me know where I resonate what you say please. You'd be helping me see me.

I'm good; thanks. So I went through a few of your threads in the Religion section and I picked interest in your love and quest for knowledge and the emptiness and indecision about religion and God you seem to be experiencing. In one of the threads you lamented "why God didn't create [you] as a Christian". Can we talk about it and many more?
Indeed we can. Start by telling me about the "emptiness and indecision about religion and God" you seem to think I am experiencing.

What thread of mine gave you that impression?

Christianity Etc › Re: I Am Taking Up Religion. by budaatum(op): 12:03pm On Sep 15, 2019
It's September. I'm at Chronicles. Stuck, actually. Kind of afraid to step into the Prophets for fear of the influence they'd have on me. I could probably get through the entire book in a month, but I'd be doing myself a disservice as I've found different bits 'speak' out to me at different times, and some bits even sound new after even the fifth read! It's like there's a Spirit inside my book! It has been my slowest read of the Bible so far, and I can see why many spend so much time studying it, though, I daresay, in error, especially if you're like young and should be learning a trade instead. Inagine if you'd spent all that time studying to be a Mathematician instead of learning how to get into Heaven! But all's not lost. At least you can be a Bibletician, instead.

So, what have I learnt so far? The first is that most on here, despite their claim, have not read it! They've dipped into it, likely, but not started at page 1 and worked their way to the end, which makes them False Witnesses. Then theres the many who may have read it but have not bothered to understand that which they read themselves and parrot what they've been told it means. And there's the arrogant fuqs (including me, before anyone accuses me of lacking a mirror), who think they understand the book but actually don't. And then there's my Lord, who actually knows the understanding he has been given is very wrong and atheistically opposes that understanding but mistakes that misunderstanding for what they Bible might actually mean to 'say'.

it's a very complicated book, with much wordplay and references to previous bits that are very easily missed. The more one thinks one gets it the less one actually does, and I've learnt how ignorant I am!

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Didn't Jesus Die For Adam And Eve? by budaatum: 4:25pm On Sep 14, 2019
LordReed:
I often hear the sentiment expressed by Christians that if they were the only ones it the world Jesus would still have die for them. Let's ignore the logistics of that possibility and focus on the story of the supposedly first couple, introducers of sin and death, Adam and Eve.

At the susposed time of their dastardly deeds they were the only ones in the world if the tale is to be believed so the question is why didn't Jesus die for them then? Won't it have been better strategically?
The first error in understanding here is the assumption that "Jesus died for them", making it sound like Jesus was one day walking along minding his own business, saw them and just fell down dead for them, when the truth is they actually stood there screaming "Crucify him! Crucify him", and only much latter realised the errors of their ways - or not, actually, since many still think the dying of Christ is of greater importance than all his teachings during his life!

It will be a very difficult doctrine to change, but reasoning people will eventually conclude that Jesus lived to teach a better way of living but the stupid people nailed him to a cross and stupid unthinking people today celebrate killing hiim and not his living, essentially crucifying and renailing him to a cross!

It certainly would have saved Yahweh the need wipe out thousands of people with a global flood. Why was this the case?
No it wouldn't. And I say this despite the flood itself being mythical! You might as well claim people should have learnt the errors of their ways from the "flood" and thereby eliminate the need for Teacher Jesus. As you can clearly see my Lord, despite Jesus, we still have not learned to love one another.

I guess your misunderstanding stems from your "introducers of sin and death, Adam and Eve". Paul tried explaining how the Law teaches about Sin, but I doubt the Roman's had a clue what he meant, as neither do you, it would seem.

Unlike the past 3 decades where malaria treatment was easy. Those days, chloroquine could treat malaria so fast that you get back on your feet after 3 days injection with relevant drugs. Such persons don't even fall sick of malaria for 2 to 3 years. But today, go to hospital treat malaria, after one or 2 weeks you start feeling the same symptoms as if you have not treated it at all.
The reason for this is that because of the high level of corruption in our society.
The reason is actually the resolute ability of the malaria parasite to evolve while its human hosts insist on not evolving!

When op said, "Avoid intelligent members", do some think he meant, "avoid being intelligent"? I can't see how intelligent people end up members in the church he's created here.
