Think availability. More expensive and available is cheaper if it keeps the refinery running. Its like a barber using expensive generator when there's a power cut. He'd lose money if its shut down.

Dangote's refinery does suit our crude oil. It would have been a stupid investment if it didn't. A blend of crude oils are however required for the different products a refinery produces, and that's apart from the difficulty Dangote has reported in getting Nigerian crude oil.

If he can get cheaper oil from elsewhere, he'd be stupid not to take it and instead let himself be held to ransome by the cabals that control Nigerian crude oil. The fact he can get and refine crude oil from anywhere shows how astute a manager he is.

You might as well have posted scholarly evidence that shows guns and whisky are responsible for wars, since divide an rule was just one tool with which you were conquered, which might not have happened if you were not divided before they arrived to rule you.

Fact is, you were divided long before Europeans arrived. Lots of West Africa had gone through Islamic conquest that had divided tribes along religious lines. Our own Nigeria had gone through Uthman Dan Fodio that had nothing to do with Europeans. My own Orolu Kingdom had been divided into Islam and indigenous religious people who were constantly at war with each other and their neighbours. But your scholarly research seems to make you disregard all that and blindly blame Europeans.

We are responsible for our stupid ignorant division. We were a house that was already divided, and that left us vulnerable to conquest by outsiders. And if we do not learn from our own complicity in our own fall, we will continue to be divided and conquered till we learn.

Most refineries need a mixture of different crudes, so Dangote importing is no surprise. Even when USA had enough crude oil of its own, they still imported different grades of crude from elsewhere.

Men do not go haywire in Africa. The social construct here is patriarchal. For the family unit to properly function, the man who provides and protects his family unit is in charge.

The Western world has subverted this by empowering women. I am not against giving more rights and protection to women. I am against the abuse of this family system by African women all because they are now in a society where they have more rights and are empowered by the law.

African, or at least Nigerian men, go haywire by having multiple side chicks that their wife can not complain about. Patriarchy itself is men going haywire.
