No one rigged any election in my area with thugs and machetes. Some tried, but we elected a PDP governor because we had educated ourselves on what might be better for us, though it could be argued it isn't.

I once donated a container of books to my local government library. The Chairman asked me to bring them to the local government (The library is in a different location). I asked why, and was told so they can access the value and compensate me accordingly, but I told them I am donating the books for free and need no compensation.

I was later informed that they would like me to sign a contract for a ₦100m and pay me like half and they will keep the rest. I was so angry that I ordered the books to be taken to the library and we shelved them. This made me a pariah in my community. I am told I'd never be considered for a government post, which I don't want in the first place, because neither will I steal but would stop them from stealing too.

Be reasonable in your speculation. They doctoring was done within the context of available votes. Anything other than that would have made it lost credibility. Thats why there had to be verification to ascertain the number of voters that turned out. It was meant to reduce the rigging margin and expose careless riggers who may declare more votes than voters. That was what the north used against GEJ in 2015.

In 2023, tinubu n apc orchesrated a distributed form of rigging that takes into acccount the available votes. Dude used Linear Regression. From the available votes he reallocated the needed number of votes for a victory and made sure mumber one was given number three to calm nerves. We live in a democracy, where we get to repeat the exam of caring and competent leader election every 4 years. And at the moment, with less than a fifth of eligible voters voting, and less than a tenth for the winner, we are failing abysmally.

We are infants as far as democracy is concerned. Countries getting it "right" today have been at it for many hundreds of years. We are however blessed in that we can learn from those countries and shorten the time to success.

What we should do is educate ourselves to recognise caring and competence and vote for it. We may not pass and get it right at the next election or for many after, but we shall learn one day to get it right.

I've read government has threatened private companies with imprisonment if they don't pay the 70k minimum wage, but I of course don't believe they will carry out the threat.

The government does not give a flying fuq about my welfare! And yes, we don't produce anything. But that will not stop the government from taxing me.

In fact, the fact the government does not care about my welfare is the reason they will tax me even more. Government does after all need my tax to pay themselves millions and buy presidential planes and treat themselves in UK and send their kids to Harvard, especially now that income from crude oil is drying up.

No, Brendaniel, I am not saying I believe the promises of an incompetent government, since an incompetent government can not fulfil its promises. Besides, the incompetent government did not promise the astronomical increase in prices that I have predicted.

What I am saying is an incompetent government will introduce inefficiencies which will be reflected in price increases, so expect things to cost a whole lot more than they currently do.

Our incompetent government has already threatened private industry with sanctions if they do not pay the 70k minimum wage. That increase will be reflected in prices across the board.

Just think. A private school teacher who was paid 30 or so k will now have to he paid 70k. How much do you think school fees will need to rise to cover that increase. Ditto, gari and transport, and wages, eventually.
