PoliticsRe: For The Record: Nigeria's Democracy Is Facing Imminent Collapse — Opinion by budaatum: 4:40pm On Mar 16
Actually, I think Nigeria's Democracy is broken because too many Nigerians can't be bothered to get off their asses to go out to vote.

Almost 100m Nigerians registered to vote at the last election in which turnout was just over a quarter, and less than 10% voted for the current president. That's not broken, its not yet created at best, or at least not used. And I blame only we Nigerians.

Thankfully, the consequence of our not voting is also bourne by us Nigerians.

Sports are easier to make analogies

Give women options between Medicine and Engineering both great stem careers and more women might drift towards medicine

Same thing if you give a Hispanic smart kid a choice between Law and Finance they might overwhelmingly choose one for whatever reasons

They dont have to go to each side equally because they have preferences and personal choices of what they want
"Might" is the key word here. And you might as well claim women "might" drift towards tying themselves to a stove while ignoring that's the only option given to most women.

DEI encourages you to give people the widest options possible so they can choose the one they want instead of the choice you pigeonhole them into.

The below is not because women did not choose STEM, but because STEM was not a field they were encouraged into, after centuries of actually discouraging women to earn incomes of their own.

This is some incoherent rambling

Black people too have their preferences on what they want to do

If you go to a high school with black and white kids, give them options between basketball and Fencing, most blacks probably will choose basketball

You should not be forcing them into the fencing team when they obviously dont want it
Why only give black people the options between basketball and Fencing when you can also give them other choices like astronaut and president?

Is it because you have occam razored their choices before you gave them those choices?

This is what DEI challenges. The bias that makes you give them such limited choices.

Liberals are notoriously anti common sense.
Sense that is common requires no effort to acquire, and is usually just picked up from those around one with no personal scrutiny of its validity.

I am very "anti common sense", and prefer sense you work for instead of that which is simply common and popular.

Below is the result of your sense that is common to most.

Foreign AffairsRe: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by budaatum: 12:07pm On Mar 14

Or occam razor that women just dont like that career field and prefer something else

So no use trying to force women into a field they are not just interested in

So there is no way you can force a 50-50 outcome when your input is 90-10 without compromising standards
First, I'd like you to change women in the above to black people, so you can see how you reason. Black people are 90-10 and not 50-50 because you occam razored them?

Occam razor reasoning is what was used to create your 90-10 and force women out of fields they now thrive in. Women were defined as the rib of men, despite all evidence showing they produce the men, and ever since they've been occamed as second class citizens who do not deserve the same opportunities men are given. You so called conservatives even talk of tying women to stoves in the kitchen in this 21st Century, though I'm certain your women just laugh at you behind your back

Besides, women are not being forced into a field they are not just interested in. They are in fact taking full advantage themselves of opportunities they now have since you men are finally being taught that equally were you created both male and female. We just hope you learn before we start deciding many men are not the equal of women, and then farm you for the only thing you are good for.

What do you consider this to be when someone said before searching that my pick will be a XX XX XX

Like saying I want to pick a CEO and my pick will be a Hispanic man.

That is the way liberals view minorities they cannot make it on their own so we have to reduce the bar to accomodate them

The bigotry of low expectations
You must think liberals are anti-profit if you believe they'd pick an unqualified Hispanic man as CEO, or don't have a valid business reason why they might.

We should be concerned though if no Hispanic person is found, since we are very unlikely to choose an unqualified person to run our business. Or do you believe liberals would hire an unqualified Hispanic person as CEO of a company?

It is abut picking the best when everyone is considered

Its equality of opportunities not equal outcomes
DEI is about ensuring everyone is considered and given equal opportunity. Though, that "equal opportunity" is debatable if you didn't give it early enough.

An example of that latter is Ben's sons whom he wants school to give equal opportunity in maths to, while I spend my time giving my children superior extra lessons. Our children don't have equal opportunities, and would likely not have equal outcomes. And no, I am not asking DEI to make up the difference, since it very much can not unless at the expense of my superior in maths children.

This is you not understanding as usual,
There might be few black people qualifying if they are not interested or unaware. or prefer other career paths. E.g Some women are just not intrested in Engineering regardless of how much exposure you give them to it.

You will not force them into Engineering even when they do not like it and prefer to be Doctors
Not agreeing with you is not the same as not understanding. Note.

DEI is about making people who were not aware, aware. Like making women and those hiring understand that women can be engineers. History does show that they were not even considered, and even when they accomplished in their fields, the credit went to their husbands.

Marie Curie faced intense, lifelong discrimination as a woman and a foreigner in male-dominated, early 20th-century French academia. She was rejected by the French Academy of Sciences in 1911, had her Nobel Prize-winning work attributed to her husband, and faced xenophobic, sexist media attacks labeling her a "foreign homewrecker".

Evidence are plenty people like Obama, Ben Carson, Clarence Thomas, Condoleeza Rice etc all rose to the pinnacle of their careers by being the best and not propped up

Everyone can rise to the top when you give them the same opportunities as everyone
You seem to not be aware that DEI is about giving the same opportunities to those who have historically not been given the same opportunities, or you just don't think the history of not giving everyone the same opportunity is consequential today.

Why? Because Smart and best people come from all sex, race etc

How: By subjecting everyone to the same standard, same exam, same cutoff for everyone
The argument for DEI is that everyone is not subjected to the "same standard, same exam, same cutoff for everyone".

If you underteach or underfund some schools based on race for instance, you can't claim same standards at the exam.

I was at Ketu Busstop some almost 50+ years ago when someone starting yelling "ole, ole". Suddenly, some man was grabbed and begun to be beaten. I jumped in, as small as I was, telling everyone it was not true, and eventually, he was let go.

What had really happened and which no one saw was that the person who yelled "ole" was the ole, and only began shouting when his hand was caught in the pocket of the person he accused. And when he shouted ole, the members of the Ketu Busstop Pickpocket Association joined in to protect him.

That man, a teacher, paid my bus fare for that week, but we both had to avoid Ketu busstop for a while and walk to Ojota instead.

Nigerians complain about change but sell their votes for about 2 dollars. My hatred for black people increased in this administration.
Many are part of the problem they are wailing about. They refuse to vote or sell their vote for a pittance, then come here to wail about their starvation.

My hope is we learn so more than 50% vote for the next Nigerian president and 90% for the one after.
