I plant pawpaws on my farm in the Orolu Kingdom in Osun State, and my people look at me like I am mad. "You don't plant pawpaws", they say, "pawpaw ma nla ilẹ wu ni", meaning pawpaw breaks ground and sprouts out itself. On one side, I laugh at such ignorance, but on the other I weep. How can my people in my village be so ignorant that they cannot plant ordinary pawpaw, I wonder, that I grew up planting in Lagos because we were too poor to buy biscuit? One day, my neighbour who plants cocoyam came crying that someone had stolen all his cocoyams. It was then I understood why no one planted yams no more. You see, big yams, the sort you'd go marry a woman with, stays in the ground for up to 3 years, but the lazy fuqs will come in the night and harvest your yams in year one so no one plants yams anymore, and pounded yam that used to be like Sunday Sunday if not everyday is like Christmas day food these days. The day I bought yam in the market to pound to eat they were looking at me like I came from Mars! And my Yoruba people will ask me to be attacking Fulani when it is my own Yoruba who steal what is planted! A cousin of mine would turn away when I'm off to my farm on my bike in the morning and make out like he never saw me, but he'd see me on my way back and ask what I brought back for him as if na im send me. One day he informed me that traditionally, his wife has the right to come on my farm and harvest my pepper. Funny thing is we don't traditionally plant peppers, and would usually just have a few pepper plants growing on our farms so we can have some to eat our yams with. So if his wife comes on my farm to pluck pepper on my farm, my own husband will have no peppers to bring home to his wife. I'm like, so hubby will go past your house without calling you and your children to let's go and farm, and your wife will come on his farm to pluck his pepper? Is he your slave or something. Lazy fuq cousin says that's how its done, its tradition. I'm like when I chop off your wife's legs with my cutlass, that will become the new tradition that will make her not come on my farm anymore! So, op, its not like those things you mentioned won't grow well in the South, its that the planters won't plant them and often when we do plant them the stealers will come to reap where they have not sown. Do however note that this is my own experience. I know lots of my people who go to Edo State to successfully farm. The trick seems to be don't dare plant it at home where your people feel entitled to the labour of the sweat of thy brow. Oh. And well done you PRACTICAL NORTHERN FARMER CURRENTLY LIVING IN THE SOUTH. |
This is amusing. We hear America has simp issues, but it seems like China has it worse, lol. www.nairaland.com/attachments/13235047_screenshot20210308112935_jpeg86015b367f92c4d3bf69ad8a4c4f7505 www.nairaland.com/attachments/11000678_notablestrongwoman1_jpegfcb825ad574991670c3a5c5080380080 |
CoronaVirusRelo:Look on the bright side. I heard on CSpan today that Texas is one of the almost bankrupt states and would benefit from Biden's $1.9T handout and ain't that pretty nice of him? Stop being selfish, Corona. Practise charity. It's good for humanity. |
|
CoronaVirusRelo:Biden's priority is corona, and getting the economy back running again, which is what he is doing, and its unrealistic to expect he'd be superhuman and deal with immigration too especially while he's still trying to get his cabinet in position. But when he does start dealing with it, citizenship for those who've been in the country awhile should be on the cards since its unlikely you'd be able to catch and kick them all out, which if you don't, will be exploited by those who want to pay them next to nothing to do a job they ought to pay more to be done. In the long run, control might deal with who enters or not, but it will not stop me standing at the border hoping I do get in, is the problem. Its like Europe with their immigration boats in the Medditeranian Ocean. It don't stop me jumping in the ocean in Libya and swimming through sharks to get to Europe. I guess I am a dreamer. I do dream of countries without borders, and I hope we find a way to make it work one day because the current system is too much like apartheid to me. |

Brendaniel:And I can rest assured that you will do so by not bearing false witness about those you barely know because you know the absolute truth will convict you if you do. The Peace of the Lord is with you Brendaniel. |
kalu61 serves as energy that has inspired me. kalu61: |
CoronaVirusRelo:"The root cause needs to be addressed by the United States of America, lol. NAFTA, signed by Republican President George H.W. Bush and passed by a Democratic-controlled Congress that was implemented under Democratic President Bill Clinton, was an example of such addressing. Need I remind you what trump did to it? He replaced it with another addressing called USMCA which seems to be making much less difference. Obama went even further with his Trans-Pacific Partnership that was slammed by all. I'll add one more just to be devious. When Buhari proposed what the Livestock Transformation Development Plan that eventually got called Ruga, he was trying to address a problem at it's roots, but people saw it as land grabbing instead of realising superior ranching will put inferior Fulani cattle roaming about out of business. I raise these to show you that attempts have been made to address the root causes, and that the No 1 super power may try to influence greatly, but we are talking about sovereign nations with diverse interests at play, so their powers are as limited as those they have over Texas! And yes, I do agree that we will be talking about more complex migration into America, even long after Biden, and perhaps until America gets a leader who stations shoot and kills on the border, but be assured that that would only further complexify the problem, which is going nowhere soon. By the way, UK solved the problem somewhat by making it illegal to employ illegal immigrants, but our economy is smaller and much easier policed than America where different states decide what laws they wish to enforce. |
Brendaniel:Trust me, Brendaniel, I believe you, which is why I know you and buda are going to end up being best friends even if we disagree, because the truth may never change but you are not so arrogant as to not confess when you have been wrong and therefore change your own mind as you've already done about gay people and Shekau. I guess what I'm saying is you, Brendaniel, are not a noisy gong or a clanging cymbals because you know the absolute truth that sets one free. www.nairaland.com/attachments/13220491_45bed02a54e49962214556df1c36eb07_jpeg2364e54824612fa9dbf9348122e64b1f |
Brendaniel:I don't believe you preached your truth to your Muslim friends hard enough because if you had, they would have preached their own truth right back at you and you'd likely have stopped being friends. As to your statement, you've provided sufficient evidence for me to conclude that you talk without considering the evidence before your own eyes, or you would never have had gay or Muslim friends. In fact, Brendaniel, I can bet that unless you are in the nature of believing your "absolute truth" and are only repeating what you already know, when you listen you might learn something new, talk less and do more, do more and talk less, I have seen through and through you, you and buda might actually end up being friends. Time, and you, will eventually tell because the truth always does. |
CoronaVirusRelo:There's nothing normal about any of this! And it's not true that Biden is encouraging illegal immigrants! And saying so is about as ignorant as claiming Buhari is encouraging Fulani kidnappings, and I will not agree that you, personally, and specifically, can possibly be that dumb! CoronaVirusRelo, I am emphatically refusing to accept that you can at this point in time have possibly swallowed a qanon pill and I am prepared to argue you haven't unless you convince me otherwise which I warn you now is almost impossible! |
CoronaVirusRelo:The surge of immigrants into America is proportional to how bad the economies of the countries the surge is coming from are doing, and if America is giving almost £2k relief to its own citizens, you must realise those in the neighbouring countries with no 2k must be doing really badly indeed. Corona, would you remain in Guatemala without vaccine and starve to death if you can get over the border to America for some of that 2k? |
Brendaniel:I am not arguing with you, Brendaniel, I am having a conversation with you so that you can base your opinion on the evidence and the facts that every time you have personal experiences that contradict what you seem to claim you believe! By your own admission, your gay friend is not the go to hell person you seem to believe homosexuals are, and here you are admitting your Muslim friends are not like Shekau, which gives me the feeling that your claim to have been "watching buda for a while now, from you gender identity to your religious identity to your ethnic identity, all are deceit, your game plan is foiled" is a false statement from which you just might eventually change your mind! We shall see I suppose, but it is amazing when one considers the truth of the evidence before one's eyes rather than just creating crap inside one's head and believing it to be some "absolute truth", don't you think? |
CoronaVirusRelo:Read what PrideofLincoln wrote. If you think of it, it's the same reason Northerners and cattle herders are fleeing from boko haram in the North to the relatively safe South. In the future that 700% will become tsunamis of like 7000%, as the economies of the countries they are coming from become much worse relative to the one they are fleeing too, and walls will not keep them out. budaatum: |
Brendaniel:You can't bring it up falsely and not expect to be challenged, Brendaniel, please! You know very well that a lot of Muslims do not agree with Shekau's Islam. For Christ sakes, that cretin is kidnapping Muslim girls! Or do not see them wearing Muslim hijab? We must be careful of demonising others just so we can justify our own hatred! That is not part of the Christ's teachings who taught the truth of after you even feel the slap of their hand on your cheek you must turn the other cheek to be slapped 7 times 70 times. But do know that buda is a hypocrite in this cheeky regard. |
CoronaVirusRelo:But surge did happen under trump! Or have you conveniently forgotten the caravans? And note how you say "Biden's green light" while the right are accusing him of locking them up! Lol. |
Ibime:Trump has not destroyed anything. He was a one term blip and we have seen the back of his type. Decent folks sat safely at home watching thousands idolise him at his maga rallies but we all know how that ended when it was time to vote. Nothing gives me more hope and faith than listening to them cry over the noble current occupant of the White House. The past one's profit is gradually turning to dust. |
simple250:Great insight. Anyone know how I can watch Formula One please? |
Brendaniel:I believe you are much wiser than this, and will realise that your question is the same as someone asking why some Christian Mog is scamming a congregation to buy a third jet. Is it not true that not all who yell "Lord Lord" worship Christ? So why would you claim Shekau represents Islam? Do you seriously believe that the doctrines of boko haram are the teachings of Islam, Brenda? |
As a diasporian, I'm afraid I can not wholly agree. You see, diasporians kind of have expectations of life working like it does in diaspora and fail to understand that Nigerians do not think nor reason like diasporians. A Nigerian, for instance, will rely much on their Gods that tend to be outside of themselves, while those the diasporian works with in diaspora would more likely rely on the Holy Spirit that God put inside of themselves. So while the Nigerian will be waiting for God their master to do the work for them, those the diasporian works with abroad will be making God work for them like God is their slave unlike the Nigerian who seems to be enslaved to their God. Can you therefore see how the diasporian might find it difficult to lead those who obey their Gods as opposed to those who order their Gods to obey them like they might be use to in diasporia? So, perhaps a caveat. A diasporian who understands Nigeria, though, personally, a Nigerian from just about anywhere, including Nigeria, with knowledge of human nature, will be the best candidate to lead. |
Brendaniel:If you return to our Fulani discussion, you will find that I want to live in peace with all humans, but some would refuse to see Fulanis as humans and so will attack us for wanting peace. I am not telling you Brendaniel, because I am not some arrogant fuq who alone must go up the mountain to hear from God while you remain unworthy at the bottom of the mountain with Aaron and Ahibu and the seventy elders like some brainless child whom I must tell what God tells only me behind your back. The Holy Spirit was sent to all and not to you alone, so stop with your, "that's the difference between Christians and muslims", because it is Christ who taught the truth of the folly of thinking one is superior to others! www.nairaland.com/attachments/10991094_notable01448_jpeg5178a1c3af1a3078369ed9fc265b1d0e |
kkins25:No! I do not agree in keeping people in ignorance and slavery! That's what has been done to people in the North of Nigeria, and now that their ignorance is disturbing us down South is when we too have begun wailing in pain. If we had bothered to go and free them with education all these years, they would not be thorns in our sides today, and they will not stop being thorns in our side until we do help them free themselves from the slavery of ignorance that binds them. That's why I like HellVictorinho, though he is insufficiently knowledgeable enough to recognise that fact. He fears no evil, and with just a tiny bit more understanding on his part, greater things will he eventually do, so I encourage him daily despite all his attempts to scuttle the hope and faith I have in him. We will not be unleashing a pack of wolves. We will build up powerful people instead. |
Easy now! You were an inspiration to him, so please bask in your glory instead of rubbing it in their faces please! www.nairaland.com/attachments/13235049_screenshot20210308112458_jpegca53263554e1c9caa623cd8688327063 |
Brendaniel:10 year jail term is bad enough, but you'd still hardly find anyone in jail for it. And as you've admitted, even you have a homosexual friend, which shows you are not as gungho against those who commit the supposed crime as your rhetoric makes out. So can you see how the evidence and the facts of your very own actions are not matching your words? Kind of makes a fallacy of your theory of "absolute truth" don't you think? |
HellVictorinho:I'll tell you what's funny. I still have immense faith in you hell that your eyes will open so that you see that you are the future. You, will not die young. |
Brendaniel:Lol! I too was ordained to tell you what I am telling you Brendaniel. That is precisely why I am bothered that you hear me. And even if you reject it, I will go on telling you because it will be painful if you are a lost sheep. |
Brendaniel:I heard that one before, lol. Is it not called rapture? I hope you know that the penalty for homosexuality in Nigeria is death, yet you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who has been sentenced for it, except in a Sharia Court, which I am absolutely certain you'd oppose more than you oppose homosexuality. Yes, it does go beyond sex. I just can't believe you'd be attempting to scare grown people with a boogeythought in this day and age especially after we've found out we shall not surely die on the day we eat fruits of knowledge. We will live long Brendaniel. The day will come when Nigerians will be imprisoned for attacking homosexuals.
|
HellVictorinho:Like the 2 year old that you are. |
Brendaniel:We are not on the same court, Brenda. You got your ball to play and I got mine and the Lord will judge us all separately. |
HellVictorinho:Are you too mad to tell the difference? |
Brendaniel:Open your eyes. The truth is prevailing already or you'd be policing the sinful acts of heterosexuals. |

. You can get to work instantly after crossing the boarder- Menial jobs. They are exploited by individuals and companies seeking cheap labour which takes a toll on employment rate. I can't explain the brunt of immigration to Georgian, he barely sees it play outrightly. 90% of this illegal migrants won't make it to other states, they stay put at that boarder state cos they already have a strong network.
