gtrust: It annoys me that these Cotonou guys are the best when it comes to plastering/pop/tiles. even painting! My guess is that it's just their area of specialization. Those amongst them who are plastering pros might not do other unrelated jobs. Nigerian guys on the other hand are probably jacks of all trades (including plastering) thus the difference in job quality. |
mufutau55: Good job Jites, keep it up.. my MENS' QUARTER is also progressing nicely. After roofing, I have wired it, bought all 16 casement TOWER windows, made nogging for ceiling, need to buy PVC for ceiling soon, just completed digging of borehole. I am buying doors soon and plastering and plumbing will commence soon too, labor for bricklayer is very expensive in Lagos. Haji Mufutau Welldone on your progress thus far. Your mention of Tower aluminium captured my attention. How did you ensure that you were supplied authentic Tower aluminum? My story - about a week ago, I contracted a guy to supply casement aluminum windows for my project using tower aluminium. He showed us a sample which was obviously heavier than the imported aluminium products he had. A few days ago, he informed us that he had bought the aluminum. My architect was not convinced that the material he bought was from tower. He collected a sample from the guy and took it round the market, and even went to tower aluminium office in Dopemu. Everyone confirmed that what the guy wanted to use to fabricate my windows is actually imported. On confronting the guy, he claimed that what he bought was "Tower economy", but eventually agreed to return it to his supplier in exchange for authentic Tower aluminium. This seems to be a common trick aluminium guys play on unsuspecting clients - it's even been mentioned in some building threads on nairaland. How can one tell authentic tower from imported aluminium? |
spyder880: I am more comfortable with reinforced plastic pipes, Niger brand. Professor Spyder has spoken, reinforced plastic pipe it is. Many thanks! |
Sir, I ve been trying to reach a guy at Cotonou for you but couldn't. I am afraid all guy available now were busy
Thanks Segcy. I don't mind waiting for a few days/weeks or even months to get an excellent job at a reasonable price. If you're able to reach the guy at Cotonou or one of the other guys becomes available, I will greatly appreciate it if you could refer them to me. Thanks again! |
Which is more ideal for conveying water from an overhead tank to the house - reinforced plastic pipes or galvanized steel pipes? Are there any specific brands you can recommend? |
@ Segcy.moor Can you recommend anyone that can do a perfect plastering job? Site location is Ajah. Thanks in advance! |

flekky07: From your words you did not state if you hv giving him money or not, Chekitaut wrote he told you 30bags is left in stock..., Y don't u buy from the nearest cement seller to save time? I know in ogombo cement is sold at 1850/bag and u carry with 50-100naira/bag. Mr Chekitaut is my dependable supplier, I meet him on nairaland and am highly impressed. 1850?? I don't remember paying that much for cement in the last 1 year. I eventually got it for 1670. |
Chekitaut: Have i collected money from you, i decide not to hand over my client to individual anymore what i will do, I will do, You call for 100bags of Cement@I650/bag and when u needed it am in Osun state, Ife for a business and i told you my boy said he has 30bags left and is not profitable taking 30bags from Obadore(Papa Bustop) to Ogombo, where have i done you wrong, If my words are false contest here and the whole house comment. I called you on friday the 17th to ask if you could deliver the next week, you said you could. On tuesday, I called again to let you know that I needed the cement on thirsday, you reassured me again that you could deliver and even offered to have it delivered between 7 and 8am. That was early for me as I needed to withdraw cash to pay you so we settled for 9am. I called again on wednesday evening, you assured me you could deliver. Then when I called thursday morning, you told me you had only 30 bags left, but promised to deliver them and deliver the balance later. You never did, you actually stopped taking my calls. You then called me on saturday when you saw my post. Abeg, how is this not a disappointment? I needed cement badly that thursday, my builder had been overcharging me so I opted to find an alternative source. |
My experience ordering cement from Checkitaut was very disappointing. Guys beware. |
bukahands: Doesn't fixed deposit have more yieldIn today's market, you will need tens of millions to come close to making 10% on fixed deposits in Nigeria. See the thread below for some info on rates at Zenith bank https://www.nairaland.com/1262538/zenith-bank-fixed-deposit-interest |
Seun: 2.5% in 3 months is alright for 100% risk-free savings. It's not a business, it's a place to keep your savings so they are not eroded by inflation. The annual yield is actually 10% or thereabout, that's not bad at all. |
Pls help me look up this one. Thanks! 1HGCM56497A065539 |

|
Thank you sir! I just realized I did not specify whether I was interested in solid or hollow blocks. Do you mean 150 for solid 6 inch blocks and 170 for hollow 9 inch blocks? |
@Segcy How much are 6 and 9 inch blocks sold in Ajah? |
Sent you an email requesting a quote, did you get it? |

What kind of wood is ideal for roofing? |
Nice job, Mr. Moore. More grease to your elbows. |
spyder880: Okay, first answer is that the quote is fair haven taken all the works involved at this stage into consideration. Different builders have different reasons for using the systems they use. The quote could have been higher had he done a first beam before the beam/parapet. Many thanks, Mr. Spyder. |
