Friend of mine bought USD at 161.50 in Lagos this afternoon. |
spyder880: IF he is a sharp guy, he might have an opportunity to raise the rent (on the new occupants, that is). He can even raise your rent, and backdate the rent, Wetin you go come do? |
My brother, call me "IF" if you like, but IF I were Spyder or ROBEN and IF I was a renter and IF my rent was almost due, rather than renew my lease I would use that money to put one of the floors in reasonable shape so I can move in. Nothing as sweet as being a "king of your castle" and giving your landlord a quit notice! ![]() We will get there insha Allah. |
@Spyder Three Gbosa for you: Gbosa! Gbosa!! Gbosa!!! After plastering, the only thing left is to move in o, abi wetin remain? @ROBEN Another three Gbosa for you: Gbosa! Gbosa!! Gbosa!! You guys are doing great. |
@ Spyder We are yearning for more pictures of your roof, I personally can't wait to see the finished work. More grease, my brother. About roofing, most roofs are shaped like the letter "V" inverted. Why is this so? I understand it makes sense for rain water to slide down and not accumulate. I've also seen roofs that slant only in one direction, like "\" or "/". I know that this may not be realistic depending on the shape of the house, roofing Spyder's building this way for example might not be a good idea. What are the pros and cons of both roofing styles - inverted "V" and "\", what are they called, what drives the decision to choose one over the other? Also, concrete roofs seem to always be horizontal with outlets at the corners for rain water. What are the pros and cons of concrete roofing, is the major disadvantage in the cost? I've actually seen leaky concrete roofing, it wasn't fun at all, numerous attempts were made to seal leaks using what I thought was melted tar. After numerous years with limited success, they eventually capped the building with the inverted "V" roofing sheets. Guys, please chime in, we can all learn from each other. |
@steo Beautiful structure also, more grease to your elbows. Where is your building located? |
@new_dawn Your house is coming out beautiful, great job man! I have an interest in the area your building is located, and would like to talk to you, hoping to tap your brain a little bit if you don't mind. If it's ok by you, send me a line so we can go from there, my email address is infinity_ng@yahoo.co.uk. Thanks in advance. |
@ ajani2311 thanks for the info., where was this, please? |
Is electricity cable supposed to be magnetic? I thought copper was the ideal material for making electric cables. Please enlighten us my brother. |
Friend of mine bought at 164.50 in Lagos this morning. |
Many thanks, Oga Fhemmmmmy. You confirmed my fear the good old wire transfer is the best option to send money to the us. I usualld don't send a whole lot, but I think I'll allow it to build up a little before initiating the transfer. , save cost, |
@Oga Fhemmmmy, Permit me to tap your brain a little, I'mm seeking a solution to a problem I'm sure you have faced sometime in your business. How do you transfer money back and forth without incurring high charges? I've heard of numerous options GTB has to offer - DOM a/cs, Naira mastercard, etc. Your recommendation and/or advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to avoid shooting in the dark as every penny counts nowadays especially with these exorbitant exchange rates. My email address is infinty_ng AY yahoo.co.uk if you choose to reply by email. Thanks in advance. |

I like this! The student was so in love with learning that he built a classroom and took the first seat. Femmmmmy, my man, you will own skyscrapers by God's grace! So also your fellow students and teachers of course! |
@Spyder I'd like to remind you that Brabus started this thread. I believe it was meant to showcase NextHome's work, help demystify home construction (like your numerous threads), and I believe create some marketing for NextHome. Once upon a time, there were daily updates by Brabus, mostly positive. Suddenly, the bubble burst and the client seemed unhappy with every move the contractor made. I agree with you - everyone makes mistakes. My bet is that nobody here would cast the first stone if given the opportunity, not even the biggest critics. I also believe that NextHome can do and usually does a good job, buy you would agree with me that this is not one they'd be proudest of. I don't know Brabus in person, but I know that he did not set out to dupe anybody. On the other hand, I also believe that the customer's expectations are not outrageous. But above all and like many of us have said, with things being what they are, the most important thing now is an amicable resolution where each party gets something good out of the entire ordeal. To those of us on the sideline, it has been a very good learning experience, we probably benefited the most from the entire saga and this thread. On a final note, may the Almighty mediate in this issue and bring it to a happy conclusion, may he not allow us to find ourselves in similar situations. Above all for those that have started construction, may he provide for them that they may complete what they have started, for those who dream of constructing, may their dreams come true! Amen, anybody? |
Great Job, Oga Spyder! If you start an apprenticeship program, I'll be number one on the sign up list, |
@diordaves I don't quite agree with you. What if Ahanohai lived out of state? Or even abroad? In his shoes, you wouldn't be able to make frequent site visits. While I have no doubt that Brabus is a respectable professional, I think the client's needs should not only be met, but exceeded with or without his presence. The ideal thing is to ask questions where things are unclear, getting some of these things in writing also helps a lot. I'm however happy that both parties are working towards bringing the entire saga to a happy conclusion. |
Beautiful pictures toybum2001, congratulations! If you don't mind sharing, how large is the house, where is it located, and roughly how much money have you guys put into getting it to the stage at which it is? More grease to your elbows! |

@ Ogbefi_007 Lovely plan you've got there! Guys, How much money do you think will take Ogbefi_007's plan to decking level? Spyder? Also, will the entire building fit into 1 plot of land, will there be any space left? If not, what's the minimum number of plots required? Ogbefi_007, how many plots do you plan to build on? |

@Spyder880 Question for you, Spyder - what are the chances of these pieces of land being reclaimed and/or resold by the original owners or their family members? In other words, does "sold" mean "sold" in Enugu? In Lagos, for example, omo oniles rule - they often sell the same piece of land over and over again, and buyers end up losing their monies or being extorted over and over agian. Please enlighten us on the situation in Enugu. |
Kindly send them all to infinity_ng@yahoo.co.uk. Thanks in advance! |
@Fhemmmy: Will titration do the trick? ![]() |
Congratulations to you and the family, my brother! May the almighty continue to bless you guys. |
