Should I say he was worried by sleepless nights and traumatic experiences after murdering his 23-year-old cousin, Ubong Edet, a 22-year-old man, or they remoted him to go to the police on his deeds, you know we are talking about A-Ibom, Ndifreke Clement, has surrendered himself to the police in Akwa Ibom State. Clement, who hails from Akon Itam in Itu Local Government Area of the state, surrendered himself to the police six months after allegedly committing the crime.

The suspect said yesterday that he slashed the throat of his cousin after beating him to a state of unconsciousness. Clement, who resides at Mbiatok Itam, Itu, said he decided to slash Edet’s throat after a serious fight for allegedly having carnal knowledge of his girl-friend on that ill-fated day in August 2015.

The suspect claimed he did not have peace of mind ever since owing to nightmares and other disturbing experiences hence, the decision to hand himself over to the police. He said: “I cannot remember the exact date now but it occurred at night in August 2015 in the one room apartment we shared.

On that day, I returned from work to meet the door locked. I knocked on the door and waited for over five minutes before my cousin could come to open the door. “When I went into the room, I saw my girlfriend weeping and blood running from her nostrils. I asked her what happened and she said Ubong came and beat and wounded her and forcibly had sex with her.

“But after opening the door for me, Ubong went away and did not come back until very late in the night. When I asked him why he did what he did to my girlfriend, he started punching me and I retaliated. “We fought for a very long time before I could subdue him and then, I picked my cow-butchering knife and cut his throat. I then carried his body and dumped it in the bush very close to the house and threw the knife into the pit toilet. “I have brought myself to the police even when nobody knew that I killed him.

Six corps members in the Osiele area of Ogun State say they are now living in fear since January 13, 2016, when a gang of robbers stormed their apartments and carted away their valuables. They said the incident was reported at the Odeda Police Station, but the police had yet to visit the scene. The robbers, who were armed with cutlasses, burgled two flats, where the victims reside around 4am penultimate Wednesday, carting away foodstuffs, laptops, a television set and mobile phones, among others.

A lady said, “They stole my HP laptop, an iPhone and a Samsung tablet. They told us to lie down…”

A corps member, who is serving at the Abeokuta South LGA, Paul Wisdom, said he wrote a letter to the state Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps, on the incident, but his letter had also got no reply. According to Punch, Wisdom urged the police and the NYSC to investigate the incident and beef up security in the area to prevent a recurrence.

He said, “Four of us live in a flat. They came in through the window around 4am, wielding cutlasses and charms. They went into our kitchen and packed all our foodstuffs. They also made away with our laptops, mobile phones, television and money. We do not have any security here. We reported at the Odeda Police Station, but the police have not come here since then. I also wrote a letter to the NYSC state coordinator, through Abeokuta South Local Government Inspector last Monday. They have not got back to me since. We are in a strange land; we don’t have relatives here. We have been living in fear. The burglar-proof that was destroyed by robbers has not been fixed by the landlord and we don’t have any other place to go.

“The police should investigate and know what actually happened. In an area like this, most of the hoodlums would be known to the police authorities. If they can trace one of the stolen items to a person, they will be able to arrest the suspects.” Another affected corper, Olamide Olowoniyi, said she and her friend, Ekawu Godsfavour, heard a loud bang in their neigbours’ apartment and wanted to check what was happening when the robbers overpowered them.

Olamide said, “They stole my gold jewellery, my Samsung X6 and my laptop. They also took the cash in my wallet. There has never been a vigilance group guarding this area; the security is never tight.”

Chelsea's Ramires has joined Chinese side Jiangsu Suning in a deal believed to be worth about £25m according to BBC Sport News. The 28-year-old Brazil midfielder agreed a new four-year deal in October but has only started seven Premier League games this season.

Jiangsu finished ninth in China's top tier in 2015 and are managed by former Blues defender Dan Petrescu.

Ramires has helped the Blues win the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League and Europa League. In total he made 251 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 34 goals, after joining from Benfica for about £17m in 2010.

World richest man Bill Gates, African richest man Aliko Dangote and six state governors from the Northern part of Nigeria have signed a memorandum of understanding on routine immunization of Nigeria citizens. The benefiting states are Bauchi, Borno, Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto and Yobe.

The two tycoons entered into the partnership through their foundations, Bill and Melinda Gates and Dangote Foundations respectively. The MOU signing ceremony, held January 20, 2016 in Kaduna State, had Gates and Dangote in attendance as well as governors of the six states and Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.

The partnership is aimed at eradicating polio and other child killer related diseases in the northern states.

Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade 1, The Olubadan of Ibadan has been reported dead. The Nation reports that the Olubadan passed away in the evening of Tuesday, January 19 after he lost consciousness Oba Odulana who turned 100 years in 2014, was reportedly taken to a morgue late into the night to avoid drawing attention, as his death some fear will stir great bitterness all over the entire city.

The details of his death were sketchy and when contacted, one of his sons, Prof Femi Lana, declined comments on the incident. Chief Isiaka Akinpelu, the personal assistant to the late monarch, denied the death, dismissing it as a rumour. He stressed that the Olubadan is still hail and hearty.

According to tradition, the next in line to the throne is the Balogun of Ibadan land, High Chief Saliu Adetunji.

A popular Gynaecologist at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital LUTH in Idi Araba, Mushin Lagos has been arrested. 43-year-old Adesina Opeyemi has been working as a consultant Gynaecologist at the hospital since 2012 with forged medical doctor certificates.

The resident of 1 Alowolodu Street in Ketu was arrested following a petition sent to the police by LUTH management. Lagos Police spokesperson Oladapo Badmos said the suspect would soon be charged for impersonation.

Editor's Note: No wonder people keep loosen their lives in LUTH Lagos State. In fact it is no news that LUTH is a no go area when you mention it to any Lagos resident. One of my cousin jokingly told me the other day that if your want any member of your family to die without suspicion, when the person is sick or wants to deliver, take him or her to LUTH and the rest will be history...lol

On a serious note though, i think this will be an eye opener to the government and for them to tighten their grip on securing peoples lives. For some to fake his/her way to a noble position as someone's physician, i think the security in this country is bogus.

Dear reader, My name is Elvis, pls I beg you to look at this situation that I’ve found myself and tell me if I’m wrong:I got a house for my girlfriend out of my parent’s house just because I wanted us to have our privacy before we get married.

I always going there to spend the night most times and she did not tell me that her mother is very young and beautiful; a single woman. But one day I went to “our house” and she introduced me to her mum, the woman really liked me. But I didnt know that it’s not just like, but love. One day my girl was on night shift in the hospital where she works and her mum called me around 7:30 that I should come to the house that she wants to see before she goes back.

I went and she told me the house is bored, that I should spend the night with her and stay till my girl is back in the morning so we can both take her to the park to return to Asaba. I agreed and in the night she woke me up from the chair and asked me to join in her bed

My heart skipped but she said no problem she just don’t want me to have neck pain by sleeping on the chair till morning. I followed her to the bed and in less than five minutes she has taken off her wrapper and was with me under the blanket. I understand what she wanted and by looking at her bare body I was already in the mood, so I slept with her, like 3 times before morning and I even enjoyed her more than her daughter.

When she left, my girlfriend was angry that I spend the night in “our house” with her mum without telling her but I told her it was her mum’s idea and that I did not complain since her mum told me that I would stay till she got back from work. I lied to her that nothing happened, that’s my mistake.
