Andres Moreno weighed 980lbs at his heaviest, passed away on the morning of Dec. 25th 2015 which is the Christmas day and as he was being rushed to hospital from his home in Ciudad Obregón in Sonora, Mexico. He suffered a fatal heart attack in the ambulance and could not be revived.

In a Statement released today, his publicist – Carmen Palacios said: ‘Andres died at 8.30am on Christmas Day in an ambulance from a heart attack as he was taken from his house to San Jose Hospital.’

My parents were sending me money cos I didn’t tell them I was working but I was working because I wanted to be independent. I didn’t want to depend on any man or on my parents even though they would have done anything for me, so I did all sorts of job; I was a make up artiste, I worked in a cafe, school library, I did so many things and I didn’t realise that these jobs were building me up as a person, building my resume, my confidence.

APC on Thursday, December 24 stated this in reaction to claims by Fayose’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, that Fayemi plunged Ekiti into debts without any commensurate development projects to show for it The party warned that it would mobilise civil society groups and all men of good conscience to press for the investigation and prosecution of Fayose if he failed to do this.

Fayose was further accused of manufacturing figures on the state’s debts to deceive the people and destroy the reputation of former Governor Kayode Fayemi. The state Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, said in a statement that it was only the blind that would not see various development projects executed by the former governor. “Fayemi did not borrow to pay salary. He received awards from many international bodies, including the United Nations’ agency and top Nigerians, for the feats he recorded in development projects, the last being the award for the state that led in budget transparency among other states in Nigeria that Fayose tried to usurp.

“Fayose lied that Fayemi at a point in time collected N9bn as monthly federal allocation. The records are there that Ekiti monthly share of federal allocation remained N2.8bn throughout and the biggest being N3.2bn when excess crude oil fund was shared among the states. “The former governor owed one month salary, and that was September 2014, and this was as a result of Fayose as Governor-elect writing the banks not to honour Fayemi’s credit facility to pay workers salary and pay the banks back after receiving the allocation for the month in question.”

Olatunbosun explained that Fayemi paid N2.2b monthly for salaries, pensions and subventions to higher institutions throughout his tenure. He argued that the monthly wage bill had reduced to less than N2bn contrary to N2.6bn that Fayose was claiming as the monthly wage bill due to workers losing their jobs and many social services suspended, including stoppage of social security stipends to the elderly when he became the governor.

The APC spokesman challenged the governor to produce the official debt figure of Ekiti State that is different from N18bn that the Debts Management Office declared was the state’s debt, saying Fayose was lying by quoting N232bn. “Fayose is a pathological liar by his claim that Ekiti State’s debt is N232.9bn to be paid back in 21 years. The Federal Ministry of Finance published the state allocations in the newspapers few days ago with Ekiti receiving N1.9bn but Fayose declared that he received N1.3bn.

The Somalian government has issued a ban on Christmas celebrations in the Muslim-majority country. The Sheikh Mohamed Khayrow, director general of Somalia’s religious affairs ministry, said the ban was necessary because of fear Christmas celebrations could threaten the country’s faith .

Speaking to reporters on on Tuesday, the DG said armed security forces have been ordered to disrupt all celebrations hence ‘there should be no activity at all’. He said: “All events related to Christmas and New Year celebrations are contrary to Islamic culture, which could damage the faith of the Muslim community.”

In a plea to the Christian community, Sheikh Nur Barud Gurhan, of the Supreme Religious Council of Somalia, warned that celebrations could provoke Al-Shabab “to carry out attacks” Back in 2013, the country also banned celebrations because the Islamic calendar that does not recognise January 1 as the beginning of the year.

New Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has confirmed the reports that veteran striker Didier Drogba will be his assistant coach. Hiddink has been appointed Chelsea manager till the end of the season after the sacking of Jose Mourinho.

Drogba who is a fan favourite at the Stamford Bridge was in the stands with owner Roman Abramovich and Hiddink during Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Sunderland on Saturday. Drogba, who now plays for MLS side Montreal Impact, is currently enjoying his off-season break was reported to be in the frame to become an assistant coach at Chelsea, something his club denied.

“The rumour about Didier Drogba is unfounded. No contact has been made with the club or him,” Montreal wrote on their Twitter account. When asked about the reports, Hiddink said he would love to have Drogba as an assistant.

“It’s important to have these club icons working for you. The only problem is that he has a contract in Montreal,” Hiddink said. The Ivory Coast international enjoyed much success at Chelsea, winning four Premier League titles, four FA cups, three League Cups and the Champions League in 2012. Drogba has played under Hiddink before when the Dutchman took interim charge of Chelsea in 2009.

Fifa president Sepp Blatter has been banned from all football for eight years along with Uefa president Michel Platini, its ethics committee has announced. Neither Blatter nor Platini attended the hearing in Zurich where they would learn their fate after an investigation into a payment of 2m Swiss Francs [£1.3m] from Blatter to Platini in 2011, which was said to have been for work carried out between 1998 and 2002, although their lawyers did attend the hearing.

However, the adjudicatory chamber of the Ethics Committee announced on Monday morning that Blatter and Platini had been banned from all football-related activities for eight years with immediate effect.

Fifa released a 40-page statement explaining the investigation. It read: “The adjudicatory chamber of the Ethics Committee chaired by Mr Hans-Joachim Eckert has banned Mr Joseph S. Blatter, President of Fifa, for eight years and Mr Michel Platini, Vice-President and member of the Executive Committee of Fifa and President of Uefa, for eight years from all football-related activities (administrative, sports or any other) on a national and international level. The bans come into force immediately.

The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Court sitting in Ogba on Friday convicted six traffic offenders arrested by the convoy of the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode in Ijora-Olopa area of the State on December 16, 2015, while driving against traffic. Those arrested and convicted include Mrs. Adejoke Elemoro, Mr. Ogunlana Olatunji, Mr. Ganiyu Ayokuleyin, Mr. Ogunade Segun, Mr. Akinlabi Ahmed and Mr. Sunday Uzebor.


Trial Magistrate, Mobolaji Tanimola of Court 16 in Ogba, convicted the motorists after they pleaded guilty to a one-count charge bordering on the offence filed against them by the government. Magistrate Tanimola specifically ordered the traffic offenders to forfeit their vehicles which included four cars, one motorcycle and a tricycle to the government.

The convicts had pleaded guilty to the one-count charge accusing them of driving against traffic contrary to and punishable under Section 7 (b) of the Lagos State Traffic Laws of 2012. In her judgment, Magistrate Tanimola ordered the forfeiture of the vehicles to government and a payment of N50, 000 each as an option of fine to a six-month imprisonment for driving against on-coming traffic, contrary to the laws of the State.

Three staff of an online retail outlet, Konga, on Friday appeared before a Yaba Chief Magistrates' Court in Lagos, for allegedly stealing 500 units of Infinix Hot2 mobile phone valued at N9.6 million. The men, Ibrahim Maradesa; 31, Oluwatoyin Salau; 41, and Jerry Idenudia; 27, who all reside at Ogba area of Lagos, are standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Roman Unuigbe, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov. 4, at about 6:00p.m., at No. 36, Cocoa Road, Ogba, Lagos. Unuigbe alleged that the accused stole 500 units of Infinix Hot2 16 GB12 valued at N9.6 million, property of Konga online retailer. According to him, the accused, who are drivers with the company, diverted a truck loaded with the items to an undisclosed destination.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 409 and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 285 provides three years imprisonment for stealing.

Ruling on the bail application, the Magistrate, Mr P.A. Ojo, admitted the accused to bail of N500, 000 each, with two sureties in like sum. He said the sureties must reside in Lagos and must be gainfully employed. The magistrate adjourned the case till Feb. 17, 2016 for substantive trial.

Husband of Muma Gee and Nollywood actor, Prince Eke has finally narrated his terrible one week ordeal in the hands of his kidnappers.


In his words:


Driving to Port Harcourt with my PA, around Ubima link into Port Harcourt road from Owerri-Port road. Three guys jumped out of the bush with heavy guns, shooting directly at us driving towards them. As I tried to reverse, two came from the back with guns too. At that point I surrendered shouting ” please don’t shoot, please don’t shoot” they grabbed me and my PA straight into the bush. At that point, they recognised I was an actor and they got so excited. We walked for a long distance inside the bush after they have already taken every thing on me remaining only my trousers.

They blindfolded and took us to one uncompleted building and then removed the blindfold. They waited till night before they took us by okada for about 30 mins ride to another uncompleted house where someone lives, because I heard voices. There, they took away my Atm cards and requested for my pin, of which I told them.


There in the building, they were 9 of them. One of them went and withdrew all the money in my accounts and they shared among themselves. From there they transferred us to a thick forest at night and told us that this is where we were going to be sleeping till further notice. They chained us as we slept on the bare floor guided with four gunmen. The next day, they brought some dirty wrappers and said that we will sleep like kings today. Then I realised that these were young boys of about 21 / 22 years, as one of them told me his story of becoming a priest but fought and got suspended. On Monday night, the day I saw death face to face. I noticed that the chains on me wasn’t too tight.

So I thought within me that this may be the best time to escape. I pretended to be very cold and asked for wrapper to cover myself, then I started loosening the chains, pushed the guy with the gun and ran into the bush. They chased after me shooting. The bush was too thick that I can’t even run fast. I kept falling, at the end they caught up with me and I thought this will be the end, one said waste him at once, I was crying and begging them to shoot my legs or do any thing they wish with me but just spare my life.


Then one of them hit my head the with Pump action and blood rained on me like one under the shower, my body was soaked in blood. The order came again “I say waste him” and he replied “wait first”.They beat me mercilessly, that I can’t even open my mouth well up till now or even eat. They were hitting me all over my body with guns and knives. When they saw I could bleed to death, they quickly called my wife and told her that if she didn’t come up with 15 million naira by Thursday that they would bury me alive, to serve as warning to the Federal Govt. and others who think they can joke with their business.


At the end, their boss told them to tie me crocodile style for 3 days without food. They tied my hands, legs and head together for about 3 days. I went to hell and back. I don’t even know how to explain it. All I know is that God was in action, and knows why He gave me another chance.
