Gunmen reportedly abduct commuters in Anambra

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a yet-to-be-specified number of motorists in Anambra State.

The victims were reportedly kidnapped near a checkpoint along the Nkwelle/Isiagu/Nibo Road.

According to a witness, the occupants of the two vehicles were kidnapped amidst gunshots.

The witness said that there had been several cases of kidnapping of motorists on that particular road despite security checkpoints.

One Festus Okafor, identified one of the victims as a former member of Anambra House of Assembly, Hon. Sylvester Okeke, from Agulu.

He added that the incident happened on Friday, October 14, 2022.

Singer, Teni, the entertainer, on Tuesday received a national award from the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

A clip of the singer receiving the award has gone viral and garnered mixed reactions, with a section of the Nigerian social media sphere describing her as disrespectful, others hailing her for not sharing a conversation with the retired general and still others unable to fathom, what was in the video to cause a reaction.

Teni received an award of Member of the Order of Niger on Tuesday.

A tweep, Odigbo Okechukwu, while reacting to the video said, “I come across people abusing Teni for disrespecting president, and what comes to mind (is) how women were subjected to ordinary things in Nigeria. This people have never lent their voice and ask question about the people that murdered Deborah and millions of women facing inequality.”

Moment San Anthonio police officer shoots at two unarmed teenagers eating McDonald's in a car.

Eric Cantu, 17, was sitting in a car with a 17-year-old female passenger when officer James Brennand fired at them.

Brennand responded to a call for disturbance on October 2 and was gathering information from witnesses when he saw Cantu's vehicle and recognised it as one that evaded him the day before as he attempted a traffic stop.

Brennand then went to the car which was parked in a McDonald's parking lot and opened the door to find two kids eating.

Cantu, who was unarmed and not violent, put the vehicle in reverse and Brennand opened fire.

The officer shot at least 10 times and Cantu was hit 4 times.

He survived.

Brennand has been fired by the SAPD.

Many trapped as 7-storey building collapses in Lagos

A seven-storey building under construction on Oba Idowu Oniru Street, Lagos State, has collapsed with about six persons trapped.

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident in the early hours of Sunday.

He stated that an operation had commenced on the site to rescue those trapped.

He said, “Upon arrival at the scene of the incident, an uncompleted 7-storey building undergoing construction was found to have collapsed. No injury was sustained, however, about six people are reported to be trapped under the rubble of the collapsed structure.

“The agency’s heavy-duty equipment excavator will be required for the rescue of the trapped victims. We have activated the Lagos State Response plan . Operation ongoing.”

Aftermath Of Building Collapse In Lekki, Lagos

A seven-storey building collapsed close to the Sand field bus stop, in the Lekki area of Lagos State, on Sunday.

Two people have been confirmed dead while many construction workers are still trapped in.

Nosa Okunbor, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, provided the update on Sunday morning.

“Two male commodities have been recovered under the rubble and bagged,” he said.

“Search and rescue is ongoing.”
