bronzegoddess: Too long.
Nigerian men are not scared of rich girls, they are scared of girls richer than them.
Yes, nigerian men take ladies for granted if they initiate romantic gestures and stuff. Even if he wasn't into the girl prior to the girl asking him out, he'll force himself to tolerate her just to get whatever he can. Men will always be men, they can never turn a woman down. Who said we can't turn a lady down. That is a big lie from the pit of hell. I have turn down ladies that makes indirect advances on me. The recent one was during my service year and the girl was angry I didn't reciprocate her moves. I clearly told her am not attracted to her even if she is beautiful, that I am attracted to beautiful and "boobty" ladies but she has small boobs. She never talk to me till I pass out but I don't give a damn. |

permanentgrace: So to you, female graduates are all about money? How about men who are neither graduates nor rich but still date and marry these female graduates? If you are one of those guys lacking confidence to approach these ladies, i would suggest you redefine your worth. That's how you may end up marrying one of those small small girls selling plantain and groundnut in the street cos till you fall in love and impregnate them, you wont even know. Go for what you know you worth. It's all about how you present yourself. They are not hard to get. What are you even talking? What is so special about dating a graduate. Are those ladies selling plantain and groundnut not humans like other female graduates? So because they don't have the means to attend the four wall of university, they become less human. My ex and present girl friend is a graduate. Why will I be afraid to approach a common graduate that is a human like me. I have in one way or the other eyed a lady selling akara in my street and that does not make me less or lack confidence to approach even a PhD holder. This certificate issue is over-rated in nigeria jorr. What your graduate girl-friend will give to you sexually, that akara girl can also give you even in excess. Everyone has what he is looking for in a woman. If I see such quality in a banana girl seller, I will approach her and polish her to become like that graduate girl. Some graduates you are talking about were once banana and akara seller. It's just a matter of chance. |

permanentgrace: That No. 6 annoys me the most. You see a guy who supposedly claim to be a graduate and yet lacks the gut to approach a fellow graduate female counterpart and start a convo. with her. Rather, you see him running around with small small illiterate girls hawking plantains and groundnut in the street. Are you afraid of the female graduates? How does that make him half-baked? You don't have a point. Life is a matter of choice. He might be sewing his cloths according to his size. He mightn't have the money to finance a female graduate @ that time or might be trying to cut down cost. Watch out the same guy when he has the money, he will even go after a female medical doctor. Money has a way of building your confidence. |

Kachisbarbie: Everyday banking practice Sir, not just banking practice.
She can decide to read all the banking journals in the world, if they put her in a bank's Operations unit (that's what I meant by "everyday banking" ) , she would be just another human there. There are units in the bank that are specialised, Operations isn't one of them. Please are you are banker? If yes, what department do you work? |
Education › Re: 10 Signs That You Are A 'Half-Baked' Graduate by butanep(m): 2:13pm On Oct 29, 2015 |
Ramos16: Most of what you say a plain rubbish... what you have said simply means you have not passed through a Nigerian university, or you are a first or second year student.
I am going to scrutinize each one of your points to show you how they fail woefully
Point Number:
1) PART OF SPEECH: If I ask you how many part of speech you know and use consciously, I bet it won't be more than 3, Noun, Pronoun and maybe verbs..... This is a very useless point, can you remember how to solve quadratic equations using Completing the Square problem, or calculate the distance and time between two points on the globe using Longitude and Latitude as ref? If you can't solve it without consulting a book or the internet, then you also are halved baked cos you have been doing maths since kindergarten
2) READING: I do not think there is no graduate that "can't" read more than two pages... If they find it stressful its a whole different thing, but to say they can't because of the level of education.. well, if at all it will apply to like 0.0000000000000000001% of the graduate population.
3) and 4) MECHANICAL ENGINEERING & ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING: This is plain stupid, the fact that you can't understand that number 3 and 4 belong to the same category and should be treated as one number is dumb of you, plus this point should not apply to only those two, it should go as far as the whole possible courses offered in the university. Your lack of understanding of what goes on in the Engineering faculty can be pardoned if you are not an Engineer. Engineering goes far beyond Fixing light bulbs or fixing your own car, what do you expect of an Mech Engineer who specialized in Thermodynamics or Air Conditioning (PS: for those who don't know Air conditioning does not imply just to that your home appliance), or an Electrical Engineer who specialized in Telecommunication or Computer, I studies Electrical and Specialized in Telecoms.
If you are to make that a point, you should talk about things that are really related to that persons course, like an Electrical Engineer not being to analyze and build a circuit or a Mechanical Engineer not being able to develop a prototype for an Engineer, things are related to the actual/specific thing they have studied, I am not saying that a Nigerian graduate should know all these, because in the University in Nigeria, nobody trains you that way, so you can't blame them.
This point applies to Computer Scientist who can't write a simple program, or medical doctors who can't perform surgery, these things take time, and it is after graduation that you are expected to develop the skills..
5) Inability to Teach Others Mtchewww, Don't you have lecturers that can't teach, do you think everybody was built to teach?
6) Confidence : Confidence is a whole different skills, it is not learnt in school, it is virtue of the way an individual is brought up, its psychology.. so no point here
7) Cant' Read and Write: This point is the same as number 2)
Can's User MS Word: I don't know why this is a point, but I can't argue with you on this, but trust me anybody is excused if they can't use MS Word, you think say na everybody get money like your father to afford a computer?
9) Discussing in Beer Parlours: Firstly I totally love beer parlours, secondly, I believe there are cultist who are first class graduates and lecturers seff, its low of them to keep on discussing of such things, but it does not mean they are half baked.
10) Watching Porn and Chatting with girls: I do not see how the Blackberry or Iphone strengthen this argument, so I removed them, about watching porn, well I can be the CEO of Shell and watch porn and also chat with random girls, nobody grows beyond chatting with new girls. You have a strong point man. |

I didn't tell you to bring yourself down or look inferior but don't let it get over your head because no matter how good you are, if you don't have the opportunity to showcase what you have, it may appear you know nothing. Develop you mind and tell yourself there are many things you have to know. That's the best way to grow. |

Kachisbarbie: The point I am trying to pass isn't about mentioning all the first year courses, but that_ knowing the definition of a commercial bank isn't a prerequisite to determining a "full-baked" Banking & Finance graduate, even if he/she is expected or should know it. Banking is just a part of it all...
That's why I ended by saying "the course is different from the everyday banking practice" Sorry to intrude but your explanation caught my attention. What do banking and finance student study in school for years if they don't know simple banking practices. I won't totally agree with you dear. My ex-girl friend studied banking & finances and I go through her books sometimes when she was in school, most of the courses is related to banking and economy. She read so many business journals related to banking and was very current with banking news. All what she needed then, was some banking experience and understand some modern banking software to build her up and understand the banking methodology better. |

Nicogen4us: what do u mean by scam? Pls explain urself and let me clearify it 4 u? I will explain to you. After the three weeks in orientation camp, the program is nothing to write home about. What can one successfully learn within the duration of 1-2 weeks? The funnest part of it is that they start demanding for unnecessary amount of money for the 2weeks duration. A friend of mine was interested to continue a particular training after camp, he was told to pay a huge sum of money even as a corper and will also be doing the training at their office in the state capital which is about 3km from his LG. Apart from the state capital, SAED don't have skills acquisition centers in other remote villages where most corpers are posted to, so how will they acquire the necessary skills. SAED is just functional within the period in camp and after then, they disappear into the air. If SAED is really functional, most corps members won't be looking for jobs after service. |

Raalsalghul: If the news of "How difficult life after service is" is fresh to some others, then those individuals are isolated from reality. By now, this is something every corp member should know assuming am not presuming too much. Mr man you talk too much. You are still serving and will never know the true reality till you pass out of service. Service has its own spirit that blind you from the reality sometimes. If you know the reality already, let the Op educate others that are naive about it. Just observe and pass to other thread. Don't come here to prove Mr know it all. Life as a corper is different from life in the real world. Even with those that have skills, it's never easy. Intelligent fellow listen and observe to learn more. |

1.First thing that caught my eye was the fact that you put your date of birth at the top. I want to believe you have a plan, otherwise please let it come much later. 2.Professional profile? Personally, I prefer a summary of who you are and what your CV holds. This way its personal to you and not just some cliche that is on every CV. For example, "A highly focused and self motivated individual with 2 years of work experience in electrical enginerring with interests in advanced circuit design, seeking opportunities to further expand his professional repertoire in a fast paced environment" something like that You would need to rewrite the professional profile if you want to keep it. One or two issues with grammar and tense. 3. Why did you decide to put ur Education next? Please before writing a CV, always ask yourself what information will be useful to the person reading it. Your Education is not a selling point especially at entry level. This is because an entry level person will be re-educated most times. For subsequent CVs that you will write please let your education be on the second page unless the recruiter specifically lists education as a major requirement. 4. These skills and competencies should have come in place of education. However stating that you can do smt doesn't hold water. You need to communicate these skills in the form of achievements. State how you have used these skills to solve problems. Follow the PAR approach. That is Problem Action Result. For example, you say you are highly numerical yet there is only one instance of numbers on you CV... Hope you catch my drift. I could send you a sample CV, send me a mail through my profile. 5. Work experience should also follow the PAR approach. 6. Your interests...not very interesting. These are hobbies not interests. Example of interests - Data collection and analysis etc. Your CV doesn't show that you are creative writer.
The reason why those companies may have not invited you is probably cos your CV was scanned by a software. These softwares look for keywords. A lot of the CVs we write in this part of the world often get these softwares confused. For example, you are still entry level age but maybe the softwares they use couldn't find your age at the top of the CV. Let every section in your CV have headings.
That been said, here are my final wordwordsbas regards this 1. Delete this CV and forget that you ever had it. 2. Write another CV for the each role u want to apply for taking into cognizance the key words used in the advert. Also take note of what the recruiter is expecting to see and prioritize the info on your CV as such.
Once again, feel free to contact me, just you cos I like the fact that you reached out for help. I dont have any job to give but I can always give my opinion every now and then.
All the best
