Jobs/VacanciesRe: Shell Discrimination Of HND Holders, Equating Them With Bsc Third Class. by butanep(m): 6:10pm On Nov 12, 2015
Why will HND be the same with B.Sc. They are not the same and can never be the same. IF you need B.Sc , go to university to obtained it. A distinction in HND is like a second class lower in some universities. what do they even learn? Those 50 to 100 pages pamphlet they called text books written by one Mr Osasu not even a doctor or professor. When a full department don't have a professor or doctor. sometimes the faculty will just have one doctor or professor which is the dean or HOD. The system should be overhauled if you want then to be even close.

If you think degree is easy, after your ND, take a direct entry to university or after HND, go for your M.SC
Jobs/VacanciesWho Has Worked With Freedom Group As A Quarry Supervisor? by butanep(op): 5:35pm On Nov 11, 2015
I applied to freedom Group Limited in Benin City and I was given a job as a quarry supervisor. The job has to do with lots of sacrifices the way it was explained. It involves moving and residing in a remote location entirely where the quarry is located where work runs from monday through saturday.

I heard one can make lots of money from the job but am still scared of the whole drama behind it. I studied Geology so it would have given me some fresh skills in my field but moving and settling in that remote location is one of my challenge. The payment is not really constant as it depends on your productivity( ie amount of trailer loads) but the company still have a certain amount to pay.

I want anyone here that has directly or indirectly worked with Freedom Group in the quarry site to share their experience and challenges so I will know better what it entails...

Your contribution will be highly welcome...

Hahahhahahhhhahahhaha...... I not fit laugh. Nursing is a calling to you. Calling from God or your ancestors? If you like be running your post Ph.D.

It is not your calling but what you find yourself into due certain circumstances. That doesn't change the fact that that is a weak course for a man. It is feminine in nature.

You better change to a more challenging course.

HealthRe: Beware Of Quacks Called 'auxiliary Nurses' by butanep(m): 9:59pm On Nov 08, 2015
Those auxiliary nurses are uneducated, unexperience and quack.

That's how I saw a lady that could not pass her biology and chemistry in O Level doing auxiliary nurse in a private hospital. I was shocked because of the danger she poses to innocent patient.

She felt low seeing me because I know her root. The chemistry and biology, she didn't enrol again and latter went to do nursing.

How did the doctor screen her before accepting her into the hospital, I don't know. So the doctor should be a quack too for accepting someone without basic O level.

Ever since then. I don't allow those so called auxiliary nurses to administer drugs, injections or treatment on me.

It will hardly work in Nigeria of today. The greatest problem i experience with my girlfriend was the day i told her i want to go abroad for my masters. That month was the worst ever in my relationship. I had what i have not heard for years. She felt am leaving her. That simple statement brought a big crack to our relationship not to talk about married couple.

For me its either we go together or she decide to come on a monthly basis if not...

Boss get a smaller job to start the race first before the bigger jobs come.

I am surprise that a graduate of electrical and electronics engineering from both polytechnics and university has nothing to do. Think outside the box man because you should have a practical skillful knowledge.

You mustn't wait for the white collar jobs.

Assuming mtn leaves the Nigerian market as assume, what will happen? The naira has no hope of restoration. Militants are agitating, massob and ipob are pressurising, some yoruba elders are not comfortable and the worst of it all, the president came out telling the entire world that Nigeria is broke. Which policy maker and leader attempt making such statement? what are u telling the outside world and the numerous investors u keep pursuing?
Do u think any good investor will love to come into Nigeria with this kind of statement by the Nigerian leader?

We are in a deep mess!
The president and his policy makers are clueless.

I think we should reduce the anti-buhari rants on this thread as much as i hate to.
Nigeria earns relatively very little for her enormous population. The best president on earth can do very little given the resource.
We need to tackle something much deeper than corruption and a bad president.
Nigeria is just not earning enough to make a significant difference.
What are you talking about? when a team is falling, who do you blame? the coach or the players? lets call a spade a spade. Is Nigeria more populated than China, US or Indian etc. Population is not our problem. China is using their population to their advantage, so Nigeria should follow suit.

The president and his policy makers must be blame for the dwindling economy in Nigeria. We know its a global challenge but other countries are managing it and driving their economy forward.

The president, CBN Governor and others advising the president are all clueless. They don't have the intellect to drive the economy forward. They make policy that draw the economy backward. Nothing is just working since the government came to power.

I keep my fingers crossed.

Beauty pageant contest is a scam. It should be done without makeup. If its really a beauty contest, let them show their natural beauty not the so called make up face all in the form of beauty contest.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Pains Of A Recruiter / HR Mgr by butanep(m): 11:34am On Oct 31, 2015
Sometimes i really don't know what recruiters and employers want from job seekers. Everyday recruiters keep complaining Nigerian graduates are unemployable when they haven't given the competent ones the opportunity to take over key positions in their firm. The fact we don't have all the necessary skills doesn't make us unemployable because when given the right training we can perform explicitly . My lecturer that taught me geophysic didn't teach us how to apply geological software simply because he don't know how to use the software. He passed such crude knowledge to us and we did the little we could to make it out of school.

When i went for internship in a big oil firm after graduation, that's when i know most of what we are taught in school are rubbish. They waste our time in school learning what is not applicable in the real world. We spend time to learn and cram theories whereas what we need to succeed in the real world is pure practical and skillful knowledge. I had the opportunity to learn the applications of geological software for seismic interpretation and fault modeling which my lecturer don't know even as a doctor in the field. Thank God i had the opportunity to learn and develop myself.

To mitigate the problem of producing unemployable graduates, our curriculum and teaching methodology need to be re-structured to accommodate practical and skillful knowledge.

I went for an interview in an oil firm and the recruiter asked me to tell him more about myself, then i started

I am butanep from delta state, studied Geology from University of Benin, an ICT expert in the area of data base management. I am a dynamic fellow because my discipline has exposed me to different areas of life and career. I am a certified safety officer because safety comes first before any work is done effectively.

I have a basic idea in the application of geological softwares like petrel and powerlog. I had the opportunity to use them during my industrial training at NNPC. I was able to generate a 3D seismic model on olumu well of the Niger delta basin and also generate a correlation panel to other wells in the basin. I did a paper presentation on the fault history of the Niger delta basin and was given credit for the work. I have plans to publish the work very soon.

I am one fellow eager to learn because continuous learning is the key to a successful career. i want to keep developing myself until my impact is felt in the petroleum industry and the Nigeria economy. I am an indispensable tool which any company or organization will love to hire

Thanks sire.

The man laugh and said i taught you know everything about your field. I was down for a bit but didn't allow it to kill my confidence. i asked that's the little i can say within the shortest possible time. When i wanted to talk more, he said i should stop. some recruiters can be morale killer i swear.
