Good evening everyone. If you captured in first week of April at Alausa , your passport is ready for collection.

my capturing is next week at Alausa, team DIY

You could help with some tips if you don't mind.

Yeah Sure.

Make sure to get there on time. You'll be surprised to see so many people there at 6 : 30 am.
Make sure you go with all the required docs, I think an extra copy for each doc should be okay.

1. Appointment slip
2. Application form
3. Payment Receipt
4. NIN copy. Original will be sighted
5. State of origin certificate copy. Original will be sighted.
6. Birth Certificate or Affidavit. Original will be sighted
7. Guarantor's form (duly signed)
8. Guarantor's data.

The queue to the right of the office is for collection, the one to the left is for capturing, the queue for capturing will be two, one for agent applicants which will most likely be close to fence, the other one for DIYers. Even if you don't see a second queue at the time of your arrival, start the line yourself. If anyone ask you, tell them you did it online. (You'll see people checking their names on a board, don't bother checking, your name cannot be there.)

Then you need to buy a file and file tag (White for Fresh, Brown for renewal), both goes for 500 Naira.

As soon as you buy this file, put all your docs inside, be careful not to lose your file tag.

After so much wait on the queue, an officer will come to check your docs. If they are complete you'll be directed inside.

Once you're inside, just go straight with confidence to the main hall, the one directly opposite the gate even if you were told to go upstairs.
There's a desk to the right of the entrance off the hall, that's where you'll start from. It's pretty straight forward from there.

After you docs has been checked and signed, you'll be asked to go upstairs.

This is where the waiting begins.
While waiting, be attentive, an officer will come with files to call names.

All the best.

Kai. Me I no get any evidence. I just want to close this matter ASAP. Will she ask for evidence why I need it urgently?

I doubt if he will get it on that day.
I captured March 3rd and collection date says may 2nd. And is still not ready. I have been to that office twice still same story.if you need it urgently is best you go with your Evidence to show why you need it to the PCO. Note .go on the collection date if not she won’t listen to you.

My collection date was May 2nd too.
But I didn't go.

Were you given a specific date to check back?

This is not palatable, but some people said Alausa is DIY friendly...the major reason I also selected the centre.

Compared to other centers, I think it's DIY friendly. But as a DIY, since you're not paying extra money, you're going to pay with patience.

When is your capturing date?
I might have some tips that could be of help.

I captured at Alausa.

Good evening everyone, please who knows what month they’re producing in Alausa…. Is there anyone that captured in march and has collected passport?

I’m going to need my passport really soon, want to know if I should wait till the collection date or go earlier to find a way to sort it.

Thanks

When is your collection date?

Mine is supposed to be May 2nd.
But I plan on going in two weeks time.

Yes, pending but not marked X like that of VTJN passport application. The X or ✓ only comes up when an applicant's NIN has been verified by NIS.

Great mind.

I hope I won't encounter issues for showing up 2 weeks after supposed collection date.

Life update:

Finally picked up my passport yesterday evening at the Alausa office. I got there at 12 noon and left just before 5pm.

Here are my observations:

1. If you plan to go for collection at the Alausa office, go according to the collection days indicated here on the thread. Your letter should correspond with the right day of the week

2. If you are DIY don't bother going very early. You can plan to get there between noon and 1pm. They scheme their practices to attend to their "special applicants" and arrangee applications earlier in the day. If you go too early you will waste the entire day waiting.

Prepare food and drinks for the wait o.

They make it a point to attend to DIY later in the day. It's not a set in stone rule but this is what I observed

3. If you captured in January 2023, wait till April 2023 if you're DIY

4. You can collect on behalf of someone provided there is a familiar relationship. If you can talk your way out of paying anything pls do but if you feel offended you can find the PCOs office to lodge a complaint

More importantly be confident that you can DIY this process. You don't need to pay anyone higher than the normal charges. You're just funding someone's flex life. Like I've said earlier, if you're not ready to part with about 150k for express then don't pay anything other than 26k for your passport. Both I who did DIY and people who paid 20k more than normal charges we all waited hours in line to collect. There was no special attention. This special assistance is reserved for VIPs (people who pay way way more) now.

In order to do DIY just arm yourself with proper information; it's all here on this thread. Search, ask questions and learn. I got all I needed in this thread. Then play the waiting game of 3 months for collection. It may be less depending on some circumstances but be prepared to wait that long. If you're in a big hurry then be ready to shell out big. Anything lower than 100k will make you wait as long as I did; don't let anyone tell you lies.

Happy applications everyone!

My collection date is 1st of May, do you think I should go on this date.

What type of file please? Can I have a picture? Thank you

Oops. I don't have a picture.
But I think a well stocked library should have.
It's just like a cardboard cut into the size of a file. White for fresh, Brown for renewal.

My DIY timeline at the ALAUSA passport office (RENEWAL)

Appointment request date: 16/1/2023
Booked capturing date/time: 2/3/2023 9:00 am
Actual capturing time: 11:52 am

the behind story.
I got all information I needed to apply here in nairaland, I did as instructed and made the payment online. (the total money I paid was #25,300).

on the appointment date, I went with all the required documents which are
1. 2 passport photo (any background)
2. original and a photocopy of my NIN slip
3. expired international passport
4. evidence of payment
5. renewal application letter (handwritten)
6. photocopy of the data page of the passport (front and back)

I got to alausa around 7;20 am on my appointment date and I met two queues outside the office, one left, the other right.
those on the left queue are those that had agent processing for them(they are to check their names and file number on the board outside and proceed inside immediately)

The right queue is for DIY,(note: we had like just fifteen persons on the DIY queue).

They made sure they finished attending to all the people on the left queue(AGENT AIDED). before attending to we DIY'ers.(we no get choice)

an immigration officer came to attend to us on the queue around 9.35 am,she checked our document and directed those that have complete documents to get a file and go inside the premises.we all went uptairs to hustle for where to sit(cos the whole place is already jam-packed).

another immigration officer came to give us number upstair and picked the first five DIY'ers to go downstairs with our files ( I was lucky to be number four).

my file was checked and I was instructed to go print out the payment receipt(the computer lady outside that did that for me collected three hundred naira).

after the printout has been added, my file was treated and I was directed to take it to room 12, another officer went through my file, signed some parts and gave it back to me to return it to the previous official that handled it.

the file was then collected back from us all and we were asked to go back upstairs to go and wait for our names to be called(that was when the waiting game began).

after waiting for like two hours without any show, I decided to stroll out cos I was very hungry, luckily for me, I met an old acquaintance, who now happens to be an immigration officer serving there, I explained my predicament to her, that I have been there for more than four hours.

she was the one that helped me fast-track the whole process and I was captured and left the centre at about 12:20 pm

Note:
if you are a DIY'ers, pls go with a brown file (unless you want to buy just one for #500 there)

after making payment, print out your payment receipt on https://passport.immigration.gov.ng/

100% true.

I almost died waiting. Lol.
If you can get your file and file tag before going, please do. Or else, get ready to part way with 500.
