I had to uninstall my MC5 because of all these cheats in d multiplayer/online games. the thing can be really FRUSTRATING. |
Cool83:Uninstall d app dt u installed before d whole issue started. |
donkilidon:Anyway, diff strokes for diff folks. U know some people will still be spending without any means for replenishing d money spent. |
If you’re always running out of cash, it’s time you got financially savvy. By facing up to poor spending habits, and setting yourself a budget you’ll find that not only does your money go further but you may even have some left over. Here’s why you’re broke – and how to keep costs down. You don’t follow a budget A 2013 Gallup poll found that more than a third of Brits don’t follow a household budget. Every month, adding up all your income (after tax) then subtracting how much you spend is a good starting point. Apps such as Spending Tracker, Good budget, Wallet and Spendbook will help you minimize the amount you spend. The key is to set a realistic budget you can stick to. You don’t draw out a set amount of cash each week In an age of cashless shopping and contactless shopping it’s easy to overspend because no ‘real’ money is exchanging hands. One way to curb this is to draw out a set amount for the week and try not to use your cards – this way you’ll become aware of exactly how much you’re spending and where you can save. You pay to get to work when you could walk or cycle If you drive or use public transport to get to work when you could cycle or even walk you’re not only losing money, you’re missing a perfect opportunity to get fit. If the journey is too far, consider car-sharing to save fuel and money. Know that little extra money you spend every day on transport can be a lot of money at the end of the month. You shop online too much The internet is a fantastic place for finding bargains but we can all have too much of a good thing. Being able to buy something with a few clicks rather than cold hard cash makes it more difficult to keep an eye on the amount of money you are spending, and you’re more susceptible to fake reviews, counterfeit goods, hidden costs, or fraud and identity theft. Limit your shopping online and then only use sites you trust. You’re paying too much for your phone Find a plan to match your real usage – it could be that you’ve outgrown your current plan or you don’t use your phone much but your tariff plan is still the same. Check out the best tariff plans on MTN, Glo, Etisalat, airtel and choose the one that best suits your usage. Also use free messaging apps such as WhatsApp, IMO. etc or you can also reduce the amount you spend on calls by using Skype or Google Voice to make calls. You spend too much on luxuries Yes, you deserve to eat out, take trips and taxis, and buy clothes, electronics and music but be aware of how much life’s little luxuries add up. Have a monthly budget for treats and adhere strictly to it. The likes of Shoprite, Mr. Price, etc are good places to go to for discounts and offers (though watch the small print) and Uber is cheaper than licensed cabs - though not as cheap as the bus. WhatsApp recently joined the 1-billion users club. The Facebook-owned WhatsApp has now become almost the de facto mode of communication in many countries around the globe. The regular update the app gets has gone a long way in bolstering its user base. The popular instant messaging app has received a slew of new features in the past few months. Here’s a glance at 6 such cool features you should know about. Document sharing A new WhatsApp update has added the document sharing feature on Android smartphones. The document sharing feature, so far, allows users to only share PDF files. This means that there is no support for .doc, .xls and other commonly used file formats as of now; there is also no official word on when the company will start supporting these. In order to share files, users need to tap the attachment icon on the top right of the screen in a chat window and select the ‘Document’ option. This opens a list of PDF files stored in the system, but the navigation does not let you open specific folders. For more on how to share PDF files on whatsapp click HERE. Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud Drive integration in iOS WhatsApp has released an update for iPhones that adds new features like sending files from Google Drive and Dropbox as well as lets users zoom in on videos as they play. One big feature of this update (v 2.12.14) is the integration of iCloud Drive, Google Drive, DropBox, OneDrive etc to send files to other contacts. This means that users can send photos and videos stored in cloud storage services directly from WhatsApp. However, other files stored in the cloud, like Excel sheets or Word documents, still cannot be sent via WhatsApp. Group member limit increased from 100 to 256 WhatsApp recently increased the number of users one can have in a group to 256. This number previously was restricted to 100. The update is update is available to both iOS and Android app users. Shared link, history tab Every WhatsApp conversation thread has a media screen that aggregates all our content such as videos, links and images, which have been sent and received by a user. A new update gives users a quick glance at all these media and text exchanged. It brings a shared links history tab that contains all the shared links sent and received by the user arranged in a reverse chronological order. The link in the tab shows the media at the top and messages at the bottom. Tapping the preview in the upper part of the screen quickly opens the link in the browser, while tapping at the bottom leads the user to the message that he/she can share, delete or star directly from here. Pinch to zoom videos This one is for iOS users. With the new update iOS users can ‘pinch to zoom’ on videos. This means users can zoom on a video while it is playing in WhatsApp. Our favorite chatting app seems to be improving each day and I hope one day the app will be able to allow sharing of all kinds of files without limitation. Feeling outraged, tickled or touched by something you spotted on Facebook? Now you can say so, after the social media giant added five new reactions to its basic "like" button. "Like, love, haha, wow, sad or angry" - the expanded "reactions" feature rolled out globally on Wednesday is designed to let users show a range of emotions. Notably absent from the new emoticons is a "dislike' button, something sought for years by Facebook users, but which has been ruled out by the California company to avoid a barrage of hateful expressions. "I've spent a lot of time thinking about the right way to do this with our team. One of my goals was to make it as simple as pressing and holding the Like button," Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg said on his page, immediately drawing tens of thousands of "like," "love" and other expressions. "Not every moment you want to share is happy. Sometimes you want to share something sad or frustrating. Our community has been asking for a dislike button for years but not because people want to tell friends they don't like their posts. People wanted to express empathy and make it comfortable to share a wider range of emotions." - Reacting to 'reactions' - Facebook had been testing ways to add to the "like" button faced with complaints that it was sometimes inappropriate, especially in cases of tragic events. "We've been listening to people and know that there should be more ways to easily and quickly express how something you see in News Feed makes you feel," product manager Sammi Krug said in a blog post. "That's why today we are launching Reactions, an extension of the Like button, to give you more ways to share your reaction to a post in a quick and easy way." The familiar "like" button with a thumbs-up image will still be there, alongside the new emoticon icons. "We understand that this is a big change, and want to be thoughtful about rolling this out," Krug said. "For more than a year we have been conducting global research including focus groups and surveys to determine what types of reactions people would want to use most." The expanded reactions feature had been tested in several markets and is now rolling out globally, Krug added. The new reactions buttons were unveiled in October as a test project for Facebook users in Spain and Ireland. The new buttons became a quick topic of conversation on Facebook and other social networks, with the hashtag #dislikebutton used by its proponents. On Twitter, one user wrote, "Thanks @facebook for all the new reactions except for literally the only thing I wanted #dislikebutton." In contrast, user Diane Bjorling welcomed the new tools. "As much as I used to want to see a thumbs down button... after seeing how such a button can create conflict.. I am happy with these 'reactions,'" she wrote. Facebook member Greg Kreiger said the "angry" button was good enough for him. "To the haters and naysayers who are asking where is a Dislike button: Hover over like and choose ANGRY," he wrote. "Visually it works better than just having the words Dislike or whatever there. Get over it. - AFP SOURCE: http://www.oddytech.com.ng/2016/02/facebook-moves-beyond-like-introduces.html#more

Despite troubles convincing Google that its app is legit, Brave Software's browser is now available to anyone who is sick of annoying mobile ads. Apple added Brave for iPhones and iPads to its app store on Friday, but Google rejected the app twice before publishing Brave for Android devices in the Google Play app store Tuesday night. Google's opposition, which lasted 10 days, was a serious impediment for the software and for the ambitions of Brave CEO Brendan Eich to make a fresh start in the Web browser business. Eich was a Mozilla co-founder who led the Firefox browser project until his controversial departure in 2014. Without easy access to Android, Brave would have been cut off from a huge portion of the world's mobile users. The initial opposition also shows just how hard it can be for developers to figure out why exactly they've run afoul of app store rules, even for developers as influential as Eich, who invented the JavaScript programming language that's a key foundation of the Web. Brave was "in a guessing game with Google," Eich said in an interview at this week's Mobile World Congress tech show in Barcelona. You may hate online ads, but you probably appreciate free content from the likes of YouTube and Facebook that those ads support. Today, ads and free content are interdependent, but the growing use of ad-blocking technology is threatening that approach. It's not an exaggeration to say the future of much of what you do online hangs in the balance. San Francisco-based Brave is trying to change the situation by adapting ad technology that is less intrusive to individuals and that lets online companies continue to run ad-supported businesses. The startup blocks online ads and related tech that advertisers use to track and profile you when you visit websites. However, Brave will at times replace those ads with others targeted in a way designed to better respect user privacy. Specifically, the browser watches your browsing behavior and generates interest-area keywords it shares with a company called Sonobi that matches your keywords with the keywords of its supply of ads from ad agencies. Advertisers themselves don't see the keywords or know who they came from. The private browsing behavior data itself stays sealed up within the browser, and Brave says it doesn't know any of it -- or any other information about you. Apparently Brave's approach befuddled Google's app checkers. They initially told Brave their browser violated section 4.4 of Google's Android Developer Distribution Agreement, which bars software that "interferes with, disrupts, damages, or accesses in an unauthorized manner the devices, servers, networks, or other properties or services of any third party including, but not limited to, Android users, Google or any mobile network operator." Google declined to comment on why it rejected the initial app submission or Brave's first appeal two days later. Sources familiar with the situation, though, said Google's initial assessment was that Brave blocked ads in other apps and that it took the intercession of an influential Google insider to help draw attention to the matter. Google has permitted ad-blocking browsers in Google Play, including Eyeo's Adblock Browser, made by a top ad-blocking company, and Rocketship Apps' Adblock Fast, which blocks ads in Samsung's browser. Google barred Adblock Fast from Google Play earlier this month but then reinstated it. Brave, still in testing and missing many features available on competing browsers, is also available for Windows and Mac computers. The company faces an immense challenge attracting a large number of users in a browser industry that's highly competitive and dominated by tech giants Google, Apple and Microsoft. Advertisers pay more to reach a specific audience they're targeting, giving online publishers and advertising companies a strong incentive to pry into your browsing behavior and personal details. But ad blockers strip out those ads. In addition to protecting privacy, ad blockers make websites load faster, free them from distracting pop-ups and protect people from malware that can be delivered through ad networks. Oh, and ad blockers mean that your phone battery lasts longer and that you hit your mobile network usage limits later. Online advertising makes the Internet world go around. Research firm eMarketer expects says spending on digital ads reached $170.17 billion worldwide in 2015. PageFair, a company that tries to help publishers show minimally intrusive ads that ad-blockers won't block, believes 198 million people actively use ad blockers. Wired magazine earlier this month announced it will restrict content to people using ad blockers unless they disable ad blocking for Wired or pay $1 a week. Eich's Firefox thrived on blazing its own trail, but Brave is reusing browser technology from other efforts. On Android, it builds on the work of Link Bubble, which is based on Google's core browser technology and which Brave acquired several months earlier. Link Bubble's original creator, Chris Lacy, is an independent programmer. On iPhones, Brave uses Apple's browser software. On computers, it uses the foundation of Google's Chrome browser. As the present leadership of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) advances with its investigation into the activities of the six Area Council Chairmen, fear has gripped the council heads of the possible outcome. The AUTHORITY gathered that since the said directive from the Federal Captal Territory (FCT) Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello through the Permanent Secretary, Babatope Ajakaye, to bring forward the list of Local Education Authorities (LEAs), the chairmen had intensified efforts at covering up their alleged shady deals. One of the leaders of a political party in the FCT, who doesn’t want his name in print, alleged that the council chairmen embarked on projects, “which have no direct bearing on the people because they want to divert money.” He said that the abandoned drilling water machine in Kuje, and some tractors wasting away in Abaji and Gwagwalada were some of the areas explored by the chairmen to “divert public funds.” source: http://authorityngr.com/2016/02/-Fear-grips-FCT-council-chiefs-over-planned-probe-by-Minister/

There are several Android malware and these programs are written by hackers for different purposes. While some are mere adware built specifically to bombard your device with unwanted ads, some are even more dangerous and they will spy on you to record and report your every move. Xbot is really dangerous as it steals your banking information and acts as a ransomware, locking down your device and forcing you to pay. Fortunately, it’s not yet widespread as it is presently in Australia and Russia only but there are chances the attackers might want to expand operations to other regions. According to Palo Alto Researchers in a blog post on their website, the authors are putting a lot time and effort into making sure the Trojan becomes harder to detect. The researchers claim they’ve seen 22 applications come infected with Xbot but these are distributed directly from the developer’s server, not through the Play Store. According to researchers at Palo Alto Networks: “ While Android users running version 5.0 or later are so far protected from some of Xbot’s malicious behaviors, all users are vulnerable to at least some of its capabilities. As the author appears to be putting considerable time and effort into making this Trojan more complex and harder to detect, it’s likely that its ability to infect users and remain hidden will only grow, and that the attacker will expand its target base to other regions around the world. Apart from stealing your information and sending it to Xbot’s C&C server, the device can lock you out of your device and force you to pay $100 though PayPal. Xbot uses activity hijacking technique The trojan also employs a method called activity hijacking to steal personal details, credit card information and online banking details. This is how it works: You’re trying to launch your online banking application but the activity is hijacked and you end up launching a clone of that app that’s actually being server through WebView. Prior to Android 5.0 Lollipop, this is quite possible but Google has since updated Android OS to combat this type of attack. This is one of the reasons you should always update your device to the latest firmware version. Researchers also say Xbot is capable of stealing contacts list and reading SMS. Having access to SMS makes it quite effective as it becomes easy for the attacker to easily bypass two factor authentication. How to protect yourself DO NOT install applications from unknown sources unless you’re a power user and you know exactly what you’re doing. To protect your device and keep unwanted applications off your device, disable installation of applications from unknown sources by heading to Settings > Security > Unknown Sources . Be sure the box is unmarked. As explained earlier, having Android Lollipop too ensures some degree of security. You should endeavor to have the latest version of Android OS installed on your device. Also, don’t give any application administrator privilege unless it’s from a trusted source. SOURCE: http://www.oddytech.com.ng/2016/02/this-malware-can-steal-your-credit-card.html?m=1
