I pointed out to the videos on YouTube because it got me wondering if they were copyrighted—these are classic movies that will never become old fashioned despite its low camera quality.

We should first deal with the situation in Nigeria and others will get the message, when those Nollywood guys started making movies in Enugu and Lagos; they weren't thinking of the Caribbean but Nigeria. That didn't stop Aki and Pawpaw from becoming well known over there.

The government can secretly assist them to create our own streaming platform, we shouldn't always rely on foreign apps — look at China!

I swear this is just too easy, we just don't know how powerful we are!
I've seen some of those videos too.
But...

Without a sane government, we're powerless.
Fact!

We have streaming apps but...

Damn, We have a long way to go!

Nollywood was able to achieve what they did despite the high rate of piracy and without cinemas — this is why we need the government to step in!
I came across Emeka Ike's recent interview and he explained how a single government policy affected the industry, the government are just too focused on God knows what even though the world is becoming less dependent on oil—it's a gradual process
With just a single policy, the government can help reduce piracy. Go to YouTube and see old Nigerian movies being uploaded by YouTubers, the comments section is full of foreigners.
Sorry but we can't help change any Ideology without cinemas or streaming apps that are known globally.

You can easily get your film removed on youtube if it doesn't suit the west. You are right tho!
Dude have you seen videos of black kids claiming the black men are nothing?
Just becoz of the stupid government we have in africa?

We can't rely on them!

It's going to be hardwork.

RomanceRe: Why Are The Nigerian Government Doing This? by CandidAdmin(m): 3:34pm On Jan 06, 2024
Demand from Nigeria is low.
We only have 81 cinemas while US has 5k+.
Also our pirates are still there.
Standard of living is low.
Some Nigerians don't even know what happens in a cinema.
Fix this before you start thinking of fixing any idelogy

He's somehow right , there are courses you don't study in Nigeria else it'll be a waste of time if you've got no skills e.g engineering and medical courses(they end up as quarks).

Skills are more important than all these rubbish you do in Nigerian universities.
What are you saying?

TV/MoviesRe: List Of Nigeria's Top-grossing Movie Each Year For The Past 10 Years! by CandidAdmin(m): 7:40pm On Jan 05, 2024
Nollywood is growing... but unfortunately, it has gotten anywhere yet in the cinemas.

Imagine our highest grossing movie only sold 460,000 tickets! And we are above 200 million in this country!

This goes to show you that our standard of living, mentality, marketing, no of cinemas and so on is limiting the industry.

At least, we should have about 5 million people strugling to watch this movie.

Assuming ticket is 3k
3000 * 5,000,000=15,000,000,000.

Then, we can say Nollywood is getting there.

But how can 5 million people watch movies with only 81 cinemas? US has 5k+

As for those on Netflix, you'll notice majority of the ones that hit top 10 global are Netflix original movies.

Also, less movies should be released one youtube and more on streaming apps owned by Nigerians!

Last but not the list, we need new story lines.

RomanceRe: Helping A Man Vs Helping A Woman by CandidAdmin(m): 11:48am On Jan 05, 2024
Although a lot of women do this more, maybe 75%...

... I have guys who didn't even regard me after helping them.

But yeah, I'm going to agree with the one for men!

An example is me. I always get reminded of a favour someone did to me immediately I set my eyes on them.

The worst is when it is money and I don't have the means to pay back.

Even if they don't ask, I'll continue to feel uneasy.

If you are not happy dating a regular girl or olosho, then start dating your fellow men.

Simple.

Enough of all this crap you guys keep posting as if you weren't the ones who caused it.

You can also be a single father if you want.

That gender is something else, but unfortunately, there's nothing you guys can do about it!

Pick one and stop this things!

Jagun Jagun, ORISA, Kesari, Anikulapo, Ayinla, King of thieves etc are pure Yoruba movies and they did well in their respective areas those in cinema and those on Netflix
I'm not disputing the fact, but none of them made it close to the top five! And the top five had that similarity.

Besides, I made the comment because they don turn the thread into some else!

Even the topic sef... What does it even mean?

Which one be argument now?

Yes, that is the thing I deduced from your post.

You’re just using Hausa to cover for your insecurities about trying to claim “Funke movies are successful because she add Ibo people to her movies”.
Ok sir!

All I know is I'm responsible for what I type and not what you understand!

So her movie gross because she’s featuring Ibos?

Then what about the movies that are done by the Ibos themselves? Applying your logic, that should have grossed much too right? So why are they not in top 10?
Na only Ibos I mention?
TV/MoviesRe: Yoruba vs Igbo | Funke Akindele Ends The Argument on Movie Industry by CandidAdmin(m): 4:28pm On Jan 03, 2024
Funke Akindele's movies is always featuring Yoruba and Igbos. Aside that, her stories are wonderful, marketing is good and she releases her movies in festive periods. Little wonder why it made so much money.

BTW, I think If not that the north has its own industry!
She for feature the three main tribes and make the best out of it!

Yet! Some people are still on Nairaland fighting tribal wars.

Tribalism is really a poor man's disease!

Naturally, men are meant to take care of their women...

... But not take their responsibility away from them!

As a man, H don't know why you'll start paying your GF's rent, buy phone for her and still be buying her credit, buy car for her and still be buying her fuel. It makes no sense!

I'm not interested in Mannishness(not like it has meaning sef!)

I'm just interested in creating a modest society.

But I don't blame you... The world modest is fast fading out in the world... Not only in Nigeria!
