Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by cannyonyi: 10:58pm On Sep 06, 2022
Please I need help to this odd situation. I mistakenly applied for a visitors visa instead of study visa for my two kids. IRCC withdrew the visitors visa with a note that they will correspond with me to let me know what next to do. I have raised several webforms and e-mails reminding them that I am still waiting for this so called correspondence but no answer. In desperation I contacted the MP and he told me that IRCC said they had already contacted me. But I have checked and rechecked our profile, my email and spams but nothing from IRCC. I really don't know what to do. We applied as a family since February, 2021. IRCC gave me study permit and open work permit to my husband since June but withdrew my kids application. Please has anyone been in this position or know of any one who has been in a similar experience abeg help me. Any information will help me

Hello my people, Please I need your input in this my situation. So we applied for SOWP for my husband in February and Visitors visa instead of study visa for my 2 kids in February 2021 (yes I now know the visit visa for the kids under their dad's sowp application was wrong...bad advise from my agent) . When we didn't hear from IRCC, we applied for a Visit Visa for the whole family in October 2021. After several mails, webforms and letters to MP, we finally got a PPR for only my husband on July 4, 2022. However, my children's visit visa application under the SOWP was withdrawn and their Visit Visa under the Visitors visa application was cancelled with a message from IRCC that they will get in touch with us on what next we should do. This was like over a month now before this my husband's recent PPR request. We are yet to hear from them. We are now confused what to do about our children's withdrawn and cancelled applications. Please has anyone been in this situation or know anyone who has been. Inshort, I just need your input because my husband cannot travel without the children. Please my people what do I do?

Good day All,
I didn't even know a group like this exists. Please forgive me if I sound a bit too naïve as this is my first time here and I am trying to take in a lot of information at once. I got a welcome and approval mail from NVC giving me my case number and some other links to pay my F1 immigrant fees, affidavit of support fees, etc. But I am unable to do this even though the 72 hours activation period has passed. I also see a message telling me that I am not eligible to process my application now and would be contacted once it is my time.
I want to know what is really going on as I heard this can take like another 5years or more before I can process my application. Please is this true and what should I expect at this stage
N/B: Also, I don't know if this will help in giving me a good answer, I saw that my priority date was October 2019. What is priority date??
Please if you can send me other useful link for more information I will be grateful. Thanks All.

Please I need your suggestion or advise. I applied for sowp for spouse and visit visa for kids in Feb 2021 and followed up with visit visa fir everyone on the new portal in October 2021. Apart from medical update for the VV application, we have not heard anything from IRCC. We are still on background check till date. I will be finishing school in April and study permit will be expiring December 2022. I want to know if it is advisable to withdraw the VV and apply again. Apart from the course that I graduated from (from a DLI school)I have also gotten a PSW certification on the side and applied for gcm notes. Please what do i do at this point?

Thanks loads @lightswitch for the response...You're right. The sad truth is that ordering gcm notes is the only way to know the exact situation of things now ...

Hello Everyone!
This is the mail I got from my mp:
Dear Bleep
I was able to contact IRCC on your behalf. The current status for your husband and children's application is that the criminality and biometrics have been passed. Medicals were received on December 29th 2021. Eligibility is still in progress.
I will contact IRCC in a month to check on the status of your application.

Has anyone received this kind of mail from an mp before? Please gurus in the house what do you think? How can one interpret this? Especially that last part that the would contact in a month to check on the status...

A little throwback. On Feb 2021, we applied for sowp and study visa for my spouse and kids to join me here in canada (I am on study visa). When we didn't here form them we applied for visitor visa for the whole family under the new visitor visa platform on October 2021. Still no word... we then started with webforms telling them that they've exceeded the normal processing time (more than 50 business days now). All we got is the usual generic emails until we contacted the mps office who sent us the email above.
Don't even know what to think with this reply. The anxiety is something else.
Wetin una think...Is their hope of feedback or nothing in at least a month time? undecided cry

Hello Everyone,

Please I need your urgent input.

I applied for a SOWP and visitors visas for my husband and 2 kids on February 21, 2021and up till yesterday no single word from IRCC. I have been e:mailing ircc.covid-travelexemptions-exemptionsdevoyage-covid.ircc@cic.g; the IRCC Ottawa and Nairobi Addresses to complain but all I get is auto responses. However, I got the e:mail below from ircc.covid-travelexemptions-exemptionsdevoyage-covid.ircc. today and is not encouraging.

I am just confused and frustrated. To start with, my husband did not apply for a Visitor visa but SOWP (only my kids applied for visitor visa under him). I have been reading of people who applied as late as August receiving their PPR and have been wondering when these guys will let me share my timeline with you all...

Please has anyone received this kind of letter or know anyone who has received this kind of letter, please let me know how they handled it.

If you are in the same predicament like me please reach out to me.

I will really appreciate

Good day,

We have received your request for a written authorization under the travel restrictions exemptions.

Please note that IRCC will only issue written authorization to an applicant who holds a valid Canadian travel document (i.e. electronic travel authorization [eTA] or visitor visa). Based on our review of your enquiry and the information in our system, we can confirm that your application for a visitor visa is in our processing queue. However, since you do not yet have a valid Canadian travel document, we are unable to process your request for an exemption to the Canadian travel restrictions. As such, your request will not be processed.

While we are unable to provide an update on the processing of your visitor visa application, please note that if you applied before September 7, 2021 and need to travel to Canada now for one of the following reasons, we recommend that you submit a new application through the IRCC portal. If you require written authorization, your request will be processed as part of your new visa application.

For more information about who is eligible to submit a new application, please refer to the following website, Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and visitors to Canada: Visitor visa applications. Please note,

If you are not travelling for one of the reasons specified or choose not to submit a new application, no further action is required from you at this time and your application will remain in the queue for processing.

If you no longer wish to travel to Canada, you can request a withdrawal of your application through the web form. Please note that there is no guarantee that you will receive a refund.

For more information on who can travel to Canada, please visit the Travel restrictions in Canada webpage.

For the list of mandatory requirements currently in place for visitors travelling to Canada, visit the COVID-19: Travel, testing, quarantine and borders webpage.

Thank you for your interest in visiting Canada.

Sincerely,

I'm so sorry if this question has been handled before but please oblige me once again. I applied for spousal open work permit in February 2021 and at that time the processing time was 19 weeks but last week I checked, the processing time is 39 weeks. Which of the processing time should be applicable to me

Hello Everyone and good job for all the help and advise. I am so impressed at the insights I have received from this forum. I didn't know that Nigerians can be very open and gracious with hardcore honest information like this. The truth is that I didn't know a forum like this existed !!! This is my first time making an enquiry here.

Here's what I really need the gurus in the house to please, please help me with. I have taken my IELTS exams and got my school transcript evaluated, everything seems to be ready ... but my dilemma is that the UK company which I worked in for the last 8years just closed shop in Nigeria. The job I did there was what qualified me in my NOC entry. Someone suggested that I quickly go there (that was while they where still running skeletal services)and make them write a reference letter for me with regards to my EE application, which I did and it was dated March 4 2015. The problem I face now is, like I said, the company has left the country. Nothing like it in Nigeria anymore. They gave all of us redundancy letters. My question is this, will that reference letter which I got from my now redundant company, with regards to my EE application be honored by IRCA when the time comes?
Secondly, the letter was mistakenly addressed to CIC and not IRCA. I am wondering if this would affect anything?
Thankyou everyone. Any input will be highly appreciated
