Nothing but a pipe dream. |
Fhemmmy:Uh-oh! OK, you got me there! I no dey Naija again o, I don waka ![]() |
@ Topic - Great post! Reminds me of a song we used to sing back in the day: "I love my country I no go lie Na inside am I go live and (quickly) die When e twist me so, I twist am so E push me, I push am, I no go go!" Nigeria na wa! |
The "wise guy" crossed the floor, chikena! |
I never liked his name though, here's why: 2face = two-faced two-faced = hypocriitical, double-dealing, deceitful, fraudulent, spurious, and duplicitous ![]() |
1) When it comes to education, Nigerians are certificate-focused, not application-focused. That's why the banks are full of (potentially world-class) Engineers, Computer Scientists, Public Health Professionals, Educators, etc, who are chasing accounts and deposits. 2) Our lecturers are not looking to develop minds, and have students challenge the status-quo. All lecturers are interested in is selling hand-outs (or what are they selling these days?), taking bribes for grades and engaging in sexual escapades with students. Mind you, I lived my first 20 years on major University campuses from late 70s to the 90s. 3) Education is expendable to the government of Nigeria (Universities may be shut down for as long as possible; it does not matter). How may innovation flow from citizens of a country afflicted by these three plagues above (just to mention a few)? In the words of Kevin Carroll, "We have allowed our creative muscle to atrophy." Nija no go spoil o! |
I couldn't agree with Oyinda more, Very well put! Like the old management saying goes about modeling a behaviour, "People do what people see". |
I feel your pain. I learnt my mother tongue as an adult, and I got so good speaking it. Anytime a native speaker overhears me speaking the language, he/she is in awe because of my depth of the language. Most native speakers I know (who grew up the villages) don't even speak the language as eloquently as I now do. Bottomline: Get a good teacher. Most importantly, find someone you can imitate. "People do (speak) what people see (hear)" |
Tribal sentiments aside, I believe MKO should be immortalized. When an individual is singled out for honour, the recognition is shared by all that made it happen. If Americans dwelt on the private life awe-inspiring and legendary Dr. Martin Luther Jr., he would be a by-word and a reject today. Not with his string of adulterous relationships, corrupt use of charity money (financial scandal), hooked on prostitutes, etc, as attested to by memoirs from his close associates, including his right-hand man, Rev Ralph Abernathy, in his book, "And the Walls Came Tumbling Down." Nelson Mandela was faaaaaaarrrr from being a saint either! The focus of the honour bestowed on him was on his contribution to the polity of SA. We, as Nigerians, need to learn to celebrate ourselves. The Kano/Bauchi Reps want to honour IBB?!!! An architect/builder builds a house and promptly sets it on fire before the owner moves in, and we want to honour him for designing the best house that never was?! Nigeria, we hail thee, |
Sure! I will even share my shaving tips with her, That's what's called love. ![]() |
@ Justwise: Bernie Madoff bribed ALL the way until the dirt under the carpet became Mt. Everest. Several reports were made to the SEC spanning many years ago about Bernie's incredibly steady returns in an undulating market. Why did the SEC and other regulators turn a blind eye? Because he had key players on his payroll! How can only ONE man go down in such an elaborate fraud scheme that involved hundreds of investors coast-to-coast? He took the fall, while his collaborators are running free. BTW his "jail" has been reported to have several amenities like a guesthouse ![]() Anyway, I am not condoning crime - God forbid - My post was pointing to the patently biased PRESS COVERAGE in the Western media. PS: Just imagine if Nigerian greed at the NSE was responsible for the current global financial crisis! In the words of TheSeeker, Naija would be banned from the UN! But since it's American greed, it's gotta be goooood ![]() |
In her "garden" - If you really, really, absolutely looooove her ![]() |
Never have, but never say never, I have had no reason to snoop, but will do so in a heartbeat if considered necessary. That's my territorial instinct, I guess. I do not have "Thou Shalt Not Snoop" etched in stone. |
Anyone, male or female, who makes his/her partner feel "unneeded" by going off on their own does not need a relationship - He or she is a lone wolf, who finds fulfillment in hunting alone and feeding alone. The very essence of a loving relationship is couched in interdependence, mutual vulnerability and accountability. If you pleasure and please yourself ONLY, you better have a fellow lone wolf as a partner. That way, your paths will never cross. I wish you nothing but the best! |
I bet a fellow Nigerian snitched on them! Kai! This is a major set-back to Yar'Do-Nothing's rebranding program ![]() A solid immigration lawyer will get them off in no time, all things being equal. PS: How come the media never referred to Bernie Madoff (Guiness book of record holder with $50 Billion in fraud) as a Jew/of Israeli descent? Na so-so Naija dem go dey shout! What is it about us that attracts mudslingers? |
Wrong ke?! Go for it - If you can appear genuine to me (a total stranger), then your best friend should know if you really love his big sis or it's a fling. May God help you if it's a fling ![]() |
You may never know - If he is insincere, it does not take the knowledge of rocket science to 'produce' a divorce document. A trusted go-between may be your best bet; but then again, that is risky. Aha - Let him show you angry emails from his ex-wife. A typical Nigerian woman won't spare a man who has terminated his marriage vows! Goodluck! |
