@ Poster Your wife has serious issues if she intentionally waits for you to be the first to greet her. Is it a power play for her, or does she lack basic courtesy? But you sef carry wahala o. It means you're secretly waiting to be greeted before responding. If that's what turns you on, why not talk to your wife, and let her know what you like? Interestingly, she may not be doing so to hurt you. |
@ Topic The need for a son to carry on the family name appears to be cross-racial to me. For example, I know four caucasian couples who gave one of their sons the last names of the fathers-in-law, because the fathers-in-law did not bear sons. Individually, the families tell me it is a widespread practice. Men who wreck their homes, looking for male kids, are sick. Thanks to science, we now know that the sex of the child is determined by the Dad, not the Mom! If, as a man, you're 'shooting out' Y-Chromosomes, na so-so Angelina you go dey born o! And there's nothing wrong with Angelinas ![]() |
Fhemmmy:Wicked? Oh no! On the contrary, my heart goes out to him. ![]() |
Errr, Poster, You are, without doubt, the curse on your Dad for the money you say he stole (and the lives he messed up) in politics. He will probably leave you a lot of money, but the "collector" (AKA 'agbana') will be is waiting at your gambling joint. The curse must run its course (until it's broken). You are the thorn in your Dad's side, Something his stolen wealth cannot buy ![]() |
She should take the hint - Her husband probably wants to end the marriage and lacks the decency to do so without verbal and physical abuse. |
With a baby on the way, they both need professional counseling, fast! |
PHCN, like many centrally controlled bureaucracies in Nigeria, is a "Community Goat" - A proverb says it will always die of hunger! I believe the solution lies in decentralization. US/Canadian cities the size of Ikorodu, Sapele, Jos, etc, each own and run their power distribution companies. E.g. Toronto Hydro distributes electricity generated by the state's (province's) Ontario Power Generation (OPG) - OPG alone generates over 21,000 MW, That's just one state in Canada. FGN should back off power generation and distribution - Until then, the shouts of "NEPA!" will continue to fill the land. |
Isn't that how it feels to be a 3rd World Country among the industrialized economies? No shakin' - We obviously do not give 2 hoots. |
don't think it's abuse, for me it's lack self control.
A lack of self-control that leads to bodily harm is abuse. Opening: Wife ticks off husband. Effect: Husband loses self-control. Reaction: Makes wife see stars in daylight plus a rearrangement of her dentition without possesses a current dentistry practicing license. Plea: Lack of self-control Judgement: Husband he cools off in jail for five years for battery, aggravated assault, (not to mention practicing dentistry without a license )A 555-lb teenager is way over the top - It is first-class abuse. The word abuse is a constriction of abnornal use. It sure fits the definition here. |
@ stbaby I couldn't have said it better myself! One thing to add though - It ain't easy. Attaining "genuine intimacy" as defined above is laborious and demanding. It amounts to a re-creation of both parties. Letting go of well-entrenched behaviour and latching unto new patterns by displacing the mental block of cognitive dissonance in the process. The result, after unrelenting attention and efforts by both parties, is grand and enviable. |
Let's calm the nerves. Back to the topic. I don't see why it should be a big deal, if you have nothing to hide. Some may have nothing to hide NOW, but may be preparing for a FUTURE need ![]() |
@ Poster I guess what you mean is incompatibility in the area experts call Fluid Intelligence (the ability to find meaning in confusion and solve new problems). Book smart (First Class, etc) is different from Fluid Intelligence. Excelling in standardized tests require Book Smart, building a successful marriage requires compatible Fluid Intelligence. It's not a case of one party not being smart enough, but a case of not being compatible, intelligence-wise, with a partner. |
@ bidemi12 Good insights. |
Nigeria Police Force in its finest hour! They have mastered this practice (of killing accused persons who gave them some heat) for a long time. I am not, in the least, surprised. |
Certainly! They should probe his death, as successfully as they probed the deaths of Dele Giwa, Bola Ige, etc. |
Mr. President never ceases to amaze me. Yar'Adua is blaming the "absence of peace, security and stability" for underdevelopment in Africa. Here is how to express and resolve this quandry with Symbolic Logic 101: Assumption 1: Yar'Adua leads the government of the most populous African country Assumption 2: Successful governments provide peace, security and stability A negation of Statement 2 defines a Failed Government that perpetuates underdevelopment because it fails to provide peace, security and stability Conclusion (Substituting Assumption 1 into the negation of Assumption 2): Yar'Adua's government, based on Yar'Adua's definition is a Failed Government! I rest my case. |
Why is everyone high on "intervain"? Definitely not the effect of ASUU strike. ![]() |
One of the best ways to improve your writing skills is to read, read, and read. Did I mention you have to read? Reading exposes you to superior thoughts, structure, grammar, prose, delivery and impact. You crave an admirable skill that will set you apart from the general population. All the best! |
So, Mr. ONEONYX, which one did you go for? Deloitte or PwC, or neither? Intelligent and serious-minded people can't be arguing on the thread you created for nothing, without getting the outcome. Just sayin' |
Canada is not the de facto Promised Land it's made out to be. After 10 years here, I can attest to that fact. However, it may the Promised Land for your life aspiration. If relocating doesn't fit, find a way to land in Canada, go back, and still obtain your citizenship after 3 years. Earning over equiv. of N300K/month is not herculean in Canada, but a new 45-yr old finds it tougher to earn N70K/month! All the best! PS: Hmmm, I see you've decided to ship your wife and kids to Canada, Sofly, softly o, Quiet, godly Nigerian men/women have been known to turn to ashawos when their partners remain back home. They blame it on the c-o-l-d weather ![]() |
The world over, economics is generally not a regulated profession. What's the use of a certification when the market does not need one? Good luck with "touching and feeling" the certificate! |
Here are a few tips: 1) Your negative interpretation of the interview environment produces anxiety - Start seeing interviews as a mere conversation to showcase your skills 2) Ask yourself, "What's the worst that can happen?" If you go into an interview thinking, "I MUST get this job!", you will be unable to control your nerves 3) Remember to smile. It may feel awkward, but trust me, you are the only one who can sense >80% of your nervousness. When you smile, you actually come across as confident. 4) Think and talk about what you bring to the table, not "Oh, I MUST HAVE this job!" Think up scenarios where you deployed your skills to achieve success. In other words, pump yourself up with great thoughts, not, "I'm going to mess up again!" 5) Practise! Practise!! Practise!!! All the best! |
1) Do a thorough self-reflection. How did you earn a 3rd Class? (Please make sure you blame no one) 2) Turn around the shortcomings that led to the 3rd Class in the first place 3) Try to earn a professional designation, e.g. ACA, ITIL (if applicable to your degree and career plan) 4) Pursue life with your innate strengths - Those strengths might have caused your downfall in school, (e.g. prefering to socialize rather than hit the books), but out in the real world, you will kick the butts of nerds! Finally, my classmate in university passed out with a 3rd, And for the first 10 years after graduation, this guy led everyone in the marketplace, even the 1st Class holders! In fact, the 1st Class holders are still way behind him today. The worst thing you can do is write yourself off. Go for it! |
@ Poster Your ex-boss is unbalanced, narcissistic and predictably heartless. If you go back, he will win the bids, and come back for you in a way that may mess you up. Most bosses feel a sense of entitlement, but only whacky ones like your ex-boss throw executive weight behind their unwholesome appetite. On a light note, I hope he does not look like the guy in this pic ![]()

Good question. I recommend you focus on what you like to do/be when you "grow up". Here's what I mean - If you work in Retail and your life's passion (what you'd like to be when you "grow up" is training, then start off something on the side. This allows you achieve at least five things: 1) Continuity in income stream 2) Test-run your business idea with minimal financial implications 3) Acquire necessary skills in the business (you will fail earlier and learn to succeed sooner/faster) 4) Develop a working model for your business 5) Leverage contacts in your existing employment Big caveat - Ensure it does not compete with your present employer (Retail and Training shouldn't) and that there is no conflict of interest (using your employment time to pursue your training business). All the best! |
Life is what awaits you after you log-off NL and turn-off your PC. , If after 15 minutes of doing the above nothing happens, put on your PC and log back into NL - Your life is here! ![]() |
First off, you need to develop a career plan, not get hung up about finding job. After you determine what you want to do (career), then you begin to apply yourself towards this goal. Physics is a pure science subject that may morph into several other disciplines with a year of post grad education. However, you may be shading shadows if you do not start out with a career plan. All the best! |
CISA is a solid certification - I'll say, "Go for it!" Though it is audit-based, it is not audit-firm limited. All the best. |
Stress and $$$$$ come with the territory! |
@Poster - Your handle is OsamaObama? You are defitinely an Osama masquerading as an Obama! Face the work you're paid for and STOP browsing the Internet and spewing vitirol! |
Hats off to Colonel Fajuyi! He obviously shared a solid bond with Gen. Ironsi. |
Lastest psychology research proved what we all have known for so long - Leaders have a sense of entitlement to the treasury. And I am referring to Oyinbo-based research. But Naija leaders? They have a sense of dismemberment of the treasury. My people say, "Person wey dey feed another person no dey go hungry" However, Naija leaders will eat the entire meal, and go on to chew on the body parts of the person they should be feeding, while he/she's still breathing!!!! Unfortunately, it takes the active cooperation and collaboration of the general public, at every level, for such atrocities to continue. |
