unclebros:OMG!!!! Are you kidding? Is he the business owner? |
At the risk of stating the obvious, Gov. Fashola, I guess. There's so much rave about the guy. |
http://money.cnn.com/2009/09/11/news/economy/bank_failure/ Ninety-two U.S. banks have failed so far this year, while the big names, e.g. Citi, are being propped up by government's money (through a long list of monetary instruments) to stabilize their economy. Huge non-performing loans are hurting the US banks. Same in Europe. Nigeria is no different, except for our Crab Mentality (esctacy in pulling down people at the top), and other agendas. For the records, I support criminal/civil prosecution of bank execs, if the law has been broken. However, it appears that naija bank chiefs got caught in a worldwide frenzy. There were numerous options open for SLS to pursue in his commendable quest to strengthen the system; but he chose the most devastating to the system. Now, naija Letters of Credit (a capstone of international trade) are a piece of junk, and it is just the beginning of the bomerang. Radicalism suits the Boko Haram enclave, not the CBN's Governor's office. |

iice:"Phase out", as in resign/transfer-out? If yes, I guess the saying is true that most employees don't leave companies, they leave managers! |
@Klassyguy Interesting post - Any guess why S.I. was so hard on you? Did he 1) feel threatened by your unofficial "best employee" status 2) single you out for vindictiveness or 3) he's just an intimidating jerk? ![]() |
lastpage:BINGO! |
See serious campaign after election! |
@Abagworo I just did some more checks - The guy is tight bigtime! Prolly through nifty tax planning, his networth is not as evident as, say, L'oreal or Apple Computers. |
Abagworo:All I see about this guy are political contributions to Hilary Clinton, then a switch to Republicans when she lost to Obama in the primaries ![]() Oh wait, he's head of an ehtnic skin care company. Cool. |
Kobojunkie:Kobojunkie, isn't it true that what we naijas call CONNECTION, oyinbos call NETWORKING (a euphemism for man-know-man), no be de same ten and ten pence ![]() A job center in Toronto confirms that 99% of job applicants they work with get jobs via NETWORKING http://www.workopolis.com/work.aspx?action=Transfer&View=Content/Common/ArticlesDetailView&articleId=Star20090603File1Article1&lang=EN But generally, it is a widely accepted statistic that over 60% of jobs in the West are filled via NETWORKING/CONNECTION - http://www.workopolis.com/work.aspx?action=Transfer&View=Content/Common/ArticlesDetailView&articleId=Star20090603File1Article1&lang=EN The higher the role, the higher the influence of NETWORKING. Being book smart is not enough (I believe we compete well in schools & on-the-job), we have to step up our networking skills. |
^^^^ Nice one - Good job on living the ultimate worklife, ikmomen. It will surely be double wahala to be your own worst boss - If you don't find time for yourself, it could happen ![]() |
@oviE How can we ALL be "a fool"? If u blame your country 4 not being a success, shouldn't u fly in a 'better' country? |
@poka LOL! Nice one on Naija nurses - We represent there no be small tin. I know a former auto mechanic (as in roadside mechanic from naija) who now clocks 60 hrs/week in a US hospital as a Registered Nurse! ![]() |
Kai! Sjeezy8 don land!!! ![]() @eze I hear you. |
http://images.businessweek.com/ss/09/08/0821_most_successful_immigrants/1.htm I was surprised to see that not ONE black African made it to BusinessWeek's list of the "World's Most Successful Immigrants." Doubly shocked that no Nigerian made the list, despite being "Obodo-Oyinbo Junkies"! Possible reasons: 1) Not pulling our weight in visible sectors - Fortune 500, Forbes 100, etc companies 2) We have a different definition of success - E.g. regular Western Union transfers for various purposes ![]() 3) Too many of us are undocumented - Submarine residents 4) Racism What's your take? |
Bigger fish to fry, Fashola for President! No better and proven candidate out there. Our own Obama!!
Sooo true! (Ethnic sentiments aside) |
My people, it's the other way round: The boys are going there to train Ghanaians in Why should Nigeria alone be "blessed" with militants in sub-sahara Africa? Naija is spreading the gospel abroad ![]() |
Well, there is a convergence happening between IT and HR, e.g. Payroll management systems and sophisticated programs like SAP HR or Oracle Human Resource Mgt System, etc. You may narrow down your focus on one of these options. |
Very interesting discussants: Sagamite & Co are anti-Ivy League MBA due to costs, etc. While dayokanu & co are bleeding MBA. While I believe some MBAs are over-priced (up Sagamite!), with an effective personal plan behind it, a top MBA will pay off (way to go dayokanu!). Remember, no good education is ever lost; at some point, it will serve as a differentiator. But $100K MBA is no longer a meal ticket; you need a total package of prestine experience, street smarts, drive, etc, to reap exceptional rewards. |
LOL! Every dog has its day. |
floriana:Abeg tell dem o!!! |
For you to post it on NL mean say wahala dey! Ol'boy, search yourself bo. |
Absolute Bullocks. The Nigerians defrauding people in the United States dont have access to good roads and electricity abi? Yahoo Yahoo is just a manifestation of our inner self as a people. Nigerians have always been corrupt. It didnt just happen. The internet only made it more popular. Right from the days of slave trade when our Kings made money off selling our people to the white man. What we need is a deep sense of re-orientation and/or a revolution.
A-town! You are tooooo much! I BOW to your reasoning. By and large, whether between husband/wife, parent/wards, prof/student, employer/employee, govt/people, etc, Nigerians display a sense of boldfaced moral debauchery. I recall one of my secondary school teachers exposed for selling exam questions; in the early '80s o!!!! I know Nigerians here in North America (who have constant power, good roads, good jobs, etc) who don't think twice about falsifying documents so their kids can attend certain schools!!! Nigerians are the Italians of Africa. It is our cross ![]() |
I do not think this post is for real - Is it possible to be so foolish yet so cluess at the same time?! She opens with "My second husband, " I guess you will finally gather common sense after the fifty-fifth husband. I don't know know you, but based on your post, I have no reservation calling you Original MUMU!!! |
From a source I know: "My former boss had a horrible habit - If searching for a female staff he would bang on the women's restroom/toilet door calling out names until someone responded!" OMG!!!!!

Unforgettable |
I met my worst boss, Mr. "O" several years ago in the financial services industry. He praised me, and always said I "carried the weight of the department through excellent work". I worked myself to the bone, clocking 15 hours/day. When it was promotion time, every department promoted their folks, even average folks, but no one in my department got promoted except my boss, despite ranking #2 in goal achievement among 25 departments! I felt so sad. What's the problem? My boss hoarded all the reward from the team performance; he hyped his contributions to executive management & downplayed ours - He got double promotion while those of us on the team got nothing! He later felt bad about it and made a lame attempt to make it right, though he never apologized. My people, please tell us about your "worst boss" experience - mean, incompetent, reward hoarder, overbearing, harasser, wicked, gigolo, ashawo, disloyal, selfish, domineering, unprofessional, fire-at-will, back-stabber bosses - even if it does not sting that bad anymore ![]() This should be both interesting and therapeutic. |
@ Poster Almost everyone in senior management at Nigerian banking industry is a grad of Havard's AMP! De wey naija people dey rush the tin tire me o. Who knows? With a strong Harvard alumni network in Nigeria (this I know for sure), and your stint in Canada, you might be able to secure a good opportunity. @Ajanlekoko You just offloaded a ton of common sense! |
The bane of our society is "man-know-man" and therefore gets away with murder. Hats off to you; you did the right thing. Your friend wanted to use you - If he has a cheque from the debtor, he should attempt to clear it; what's the big deal? ![]() |
Not a single media outfit referred to Bernie Madoff as a JEW (and he is!) - Why is country of origin important when it comes to Nigerians? ![]() |
the guy na big monkey, baboonus sylvarus ode, alakori, were, oloshi, slowpoke, nonsense and ingredients, punk a**
LOL!!!!!! Z-Murda, you kill person o!!!! ![]() |
