You still haven't told us after you and your nationalist cronies defeat the sinister system known as CAPITALISM, what is the master plan

Hahaha!, Poor frustrated cyber warrior. Listen Kid,  You really are s.t.u.p.i.d. you better hurry up, and use your British passport and travel around, see what really happens on your continent instead of sitting in your 400 square foot flat watching Youtube videos of fake professors and skewing your perceptions with black nationalist books. The fresh air will do you some good too help u deal with some o that bent out frustration you feeling

I've seen crotch grabbing wet in the ear idiots like you and Mandingo destroy the minds and lives of young Africans, selling them recycled jibberish about boogeymen, mindless revolutions and salvation from so called oppressors while you sit comfortably in your hideaways far far away. Warriors my azz.  Go tell the egyptians about your African renaissance, they just had a so called revolution, look how much good its doing them.  Boy please who you think you fooling?

Get off our lazy kebab eating internet warrior azz and go do something bout what you screaming about othewise you no more than a loud mouth lost soul wanna be British Nigerian kid looking for a cause that will fill the emptiness he feels in a cold harsh world.

Morpheus says "What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire life, that there's something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad"

do you remember some months back when I said:

Change can come in nigeria but it will have to be a grassroots movement - the masses will have to use force to remove the corrupt elite at the top that is the only way change will come about. The nigerian elite (the politicians, business people, technocrats) are the enemies of the nigerian people - they are not interested in improving the lives of ordinary people, they have no vision, their only objective is to keep lining their pockets.

They have a vested interest in things remaining the same,  why would someone change somethign that they are benefitting from?

- these are all the kinds of things that the west could not do to Gadaffi, when gadaffi felt that libya wasnt getting a fair price for its oil from the western oil companies he cut his oil production and started threatening to nationalise the entire libyan oil industry in order to enable the libyan people exert greater control over oil prices, can you imagine someone like Jonathan doing something like this?
Quote from: cap28 on May 06, 2011, 02:03 PM

The only interests they serve are their own selfish interests and the interests of foreign multinational businesses and banks - that is why Goodluck Jonathan had to go to Obama first to get Obama's backing, Obama gave his backing but with conditions attached - that nigeria devalue its currency so that foreign investors can come into nigeria and buy up nigerian public utitilities at rock bottom prices. Did Jonathan object to this? Of course not, all he could say was wait until after i have won the election then i will devalue our currency and plunge my people into even more hardship
and your response was:

These clips you've posted up there prove nothing.

All i can hear on the part of the CBN governor is that the nigerian govt refused to accept devaluation of the naira.
But one major thing you missed was the fact that this was his position 2 months BEFORE THE ELECTIONS -

I would be very interested to know what his current position is on this.

It makes perfect sense for the nigerian govt to lie about its position before an election in order to ensure its voted back into office by the gullible nigerian public.

It is still very early days, but i am very sure that nigeria's position on this will change very soon and the devaluation will take place despite Lamido's (staged) protestations.
Do you remember chump?  but what has happened since May of this year? hasnt the naira been devalued and are the nigerian govt not about to implement the most draconian punishment on the nigerian populace  ie the so called removal of the fuel subsidy?

you are going to learn the hard way that capitalism was never designed to benefit africans but merely keep them in bondage forever - carry on being a fool.

if capitalism is the success story you claim it is why are 70% of the nigerian population living on the equivalent of a $1 a day?

if capitalism does indeed create innovation, competition and efficiency why is it that the average nigerian can not afford the most basic amenities like food and housing? and why is there mass unemployment and poverty in nigeria?

and before you use the time worn excuse of corruption - nigeria practices capitalism in its most undiluted form - if we are to go by your warped upside down way of thinking the average nigerian should be reaping the benefits of this capitalist paradise - but we're not are we?

only a tiny elite in nigeria benefit from capitalism ie the politicians and their kleptocrat cronies who open up the country to these multinational corporations who come in and buy up govt utilities and get nigerians to work for them on starvation wages.

the capitalists are quite happy with this arrangement as their only concern is to make profit, thats why they invest in nigeria in the first place - there are no laws protecting labour, the so called unions are weak and ineffectual, there is massive resistance to minimum wage, no health and safety regulations - its basically a capitalist's paradise - a place where people can be worked to the bone for pennies, exploited, abused and tossed onto the scrap heap - and this is the system you praise and extol.

mandingo is right you are a brainwashed fool, you are incapable of critical and analytical thinking, for centuries the white man has used capitalism to enslave, abuse and exploit africans in order to build and develop their own economies while leaving africa weak, broken and dependant and this is the system you worship - you are totally finished as a human being.

Hey what if I am a villager who lives in the outskirts of Ondo state Nigeria and I own a huge piece of farm land but I don't have the capital to maximize the production on the land to produce what I need for myself and sell the excess in a "FREE MARKET SYTEM' where I can negotiate the best price for the product in a pool of willing buyers and sellers. What happens to the land, to me, to my family? Should I just produce enough for me to eat. how does that benefit society? What if I get jacked by hungry neighbours and get killed? Doesn't that cause more chaos in society?

Mandingo and his minions stage a coup and occupy government offices. They decide they will give me the money to maximize production. The only stipulation would be I can only keep enough produce for myself. The rest they will confiscate and sell to the public at a "fixed price" ffordable to all. The money is then used in to distribute the wealth I created, evenly among the population for the good of mankind.

I object. The land is rightfully mine and I should be the sole dictator of how much will be produced and given the power to "NEGOTIATE" my excess production in a market of willing buyers and sellers to maximize my wants. The government can come buy from me at Subsidized prices and sell cheap to the less fortunate in society.

The caveat to your supposed jibberish is that the extremes of any system are dangerous once they are manipulated by the few in the society that seek absolute power over others. Mao tried this rubbish way back and his bravado led to millions of deaths, emmigrations and economic woes. it was until an equlibibium was struck did China emerge as a formidable power

PS The ones in the 'Middle" of any economic system sustain it and will always be the most staunch defenders of the balance the system was intended to create. The extremist  will alwasy advocate change to a different system but in the end they too are victims of the struggle for absolute power and control.

Morpheus says " you didn't come here to make the choice, you've already made it. You're here to try to understand *why* you made it. I thought you'd have figured that out by now. "
actually most farmers in the so called third world are being shafted by the giant multinationals like Monsanto who kick them off their land without paying them compensation and then grow cash crops for export only - the poor farmer then has two options - get a job working on the land he previously owned, working as a farmhand on starvation wages or move to the town where he will end up in an overcrowded slum full of people like himself who have just been forced off their land.

small farmers can not compete in your so called free market dream world because they do not have access to the money needed to fund such large scale agricultural businesses and govts (like nigeria) do not fund the agricultural industry because they are too busy selling off state owned assets to foreigners and implementing programmes that benefit western economies and destroy their own economies.

companies like monsanto are now so big and powerful that they even own patents for seeds - you can not grow anything without buying the seeds from them, and even after buying the seeds these seeds will only yield one harvest, after one yield you have to go back to them to buy another batch of seeds, many farmers in the third world have committed suicide because of this draconian practice which holds them in bondage to western owned agribusinesses.

to be honest nigerians deserve this coming fuel subsidy removal - where have you ever heard of a known thief being given the benefit of the doubt to run a nation?  a thief who was caught with his (and his wife's) hands in the till on several occasions but who was still allowed to undertake the gargantuan task of running a nation.

@alj_harem,  @lanre_front

Why is a simple English explanation so difficult for you to understand? Should I use Yoruba or Ibo?

I never said the government has put those thing in place. I simply said those things will need to be in place before subsidy can be removed. That means, I wasnt really on the government side. I was just stating facts. I also said you need to focus your energies in demanding that government put those things in place (at least to an acceptable level) before they can talk about removing subsidy.

Secondly, please stop echoing the silly labour and media ignorance. Subsidy does not benefit the poor. If you think it does, then you are truly being scammed. Subsidy benefits the importers. The problem with Nigeria is that most of us have this "government is a nanny" mentality. I have said time and time again, we do no need government handouts. We do not need government paying our bills. That is why I detest owanbe governors who always come out promising free this and free that. We dont need freebies. We need the right infrastructure in place so we can generate wealth. We are hard working and intelligent people. We need good roads, access to loans, regular power, security, etc not government handouts and stipends. Stop thinking in stipends. Stop this "government is a nanny" mentality.

SUBSIDY DOES NOT BENEFIT THE MASSES. IT ONLY BENEFITS THE IMPORTERS. What the so called masses think they gain in subsidy, they loose in hospitals, loans, roads, etc. I know some will quickly jump and say "but they will embezzle the money if government stop spending it on subsidy". That is a wrong argument. So somebody should be allowed to enrich himself just because we are afraid the government might embezzle it? Terrible stand to take, I think. Instead, we should now fight for accountability. For example, you can start a movement that will keep tabs on the money gained from the removal of subsidy and how it is spent and track it. This is how the people demand good governance. Well I guess nobody wants to do that because it is more convenient to critisize and talk crap. Stop critisizing and start acting. You have not done anything for Nigeria and you are accusing a politician. Why have you not stood up and taking a stand to help your country. Critics are the worst kind of people there are. Go back to your village and start there and make a difference. Posting crap in NL all day is a cowardly response to life's challenges. Act and make a difference. Talk is cheap. Forums are even cheaper!
ive never heard anyone talk so much crap in my life - so according to  your logic the only available source of revenue for undertaking infrastructure development in nigeria is from the revenue that is currently being used to subsidise the price of petrol for consumers - so what does the nigerian govt do with the tax revenue, crude oil sales revenue, monies from windfall sales of crude oil, where does all that money go? this is the most ridiculous argument i have ever heard in my life, so you actually beleive that a govt that has diverted billions in oil revenue into overseas personal accounts over the years will suddenly develop a conscience and use the subsidy revenue to build infrastructure?

this is the daftest argument i have ever heard, honestly

and for your information it is the nigerian govts responsiblity to finance certain basic services such as education and healthcare - the reason the govt is not doing this is not only due to the diversion of govt funds into personal bank accounts but also due to their ongoing implementation of IMF structural adjustment policies - monies that are supposed to go into these areas are used to pay extortionate interest rates on loans borrowed from international financial institutions.

govts of developed countries PROVIDE services like education and health care to their citizens, they also subsidise other areas such as agriculture in order to keep the prices of food low so that your statement about nigerians being over reliant on the govt does not make sense - IT IS THE DUTY OF A GOVT TO PROVIDE FOR ITS CITIZENS NOT FOR THE CITIZENS TO BE LEFT TO FEND FOR THEMSELVES!!!

An entire town in libya inhabited by black people known as Tawergha in libya was ethnically cleansed by NATO rebels last month,  Sirte - Muammar Gadaffi's birthplace has had all food and water supply cut off from it by the NATO terrorists and it is currently under 24 hour bombardment from the air.

and yet we nigerians still think that the white man is our friend, we africans have a lot of work to do, not only do we need to overcome our mental enslavement we also need to build up a very powerful military so that we can defend ourselves as the americans intend to locate military bases all over africa (AFRICOM) in order to gain easy access to our natural resources, many african leaders were not in support of this but have caved in following NATO's recent invasion into libya.
i am really worried now as i feel time is really running out for us.

every great nation has recognised the importance of shaping and moulding the minds of the youth - they are the future and therefore if you are interested in preserving your culture, language and heritage you must shape and mould the minds of the youth.

the chinese did it under mao during their cultural revolution, the russians did it during the stalinist era even hitler did it with the creation of the hitler youth.

have africans done it? no - instead we have imbibed all the negative aspects of so called western civilisation which has led to us remaining slaves in our own land.

the japanese are an intelligent race - in the mid 19th century they sent officials from their country to china to study the situation there and what they found shaped the susbsequent development of their own nation, here is what they observed when they arrived in china in 1862:

the chinese have become servants to the foreigners, sovereignty may belong to china but in fact its no more than a colony of britain and france.

after seeing this the japanese vowed never to be in the same position that the chinese were in - they subsequently embarked on a massive overhaul of their system, but the one thing they did which i totally respect them for was that they built up a formidable army, navy and airforce, without a great army you are a sitting duck for the western powers.

lets fast forward to the 21st century - you can see that china has freed itself from western economic enslavement but africa remains under the heel of the west, isnt it time for us to wake up before its too late?

igbo 2011 i want to thank you for posting those videos as they were extremely informative as well as highly entertaining.

most of what you are saying on here are things i am already aware of but it is very very refreshing when you find fellow nigerians with the same mindset and understanding.

my belief is that the only way we africans will ever be able to free ourselves from our current economic and psychological bondage is to do what the japanese did in the mid 19th century and totally and completely overhaul our current system and replace it with a homegrown system which places afrocentricism at the centre of our educational, psychological and economic development.  what does that entail - the complete abolition of our current euro centric educational system and a replacement - the reason i focus on education is because if you can change the mindset of the people, you can also change the actions of the people, we africans suffer from extreme low self esteem in that we bow and genuflect before western ideologies, we do not even harness this western ideology in order to improve our current condition but instead follow slavishly the dictates of western powers who only want to see us fail.

the first thing the japanese did when they began their ascent as an imperial power was to expel christian missionaries from their country - why? because they correctly understood that these people were undermining their own culture, language and religion, the speaking of english language was banned - the training of young people in japanese culture and religion was compulsory - this is why the japanese became a formidable power.  the west were so afraid of the japanese that till today they are not allowed to have their own standing army, the japanese were such formidable soldiers due to years of discipline and training that the americans had to drop two atomic bombs on their nation in order to avoid a ground war with them.

we africans need to observe and learn from these courageous people and stop being puppets, stooges and slaves of the western powers.

How do you do? Well, Africa has been ceded to the colonial masters of Britain and France to take care of since only they know our gullible lazy people more than we know of ourselves hence the prime movers for invasion of Libya are the usual Primary colonials(France and Britain) with "hapless" USA in tow. Cameroons is just another quasi-colonial territory. You only need to meet so called Francophone Cameroonians to appreciate the enormity of the problem with Cameroons and the so called democracy Cameroonian style. It's no different from Nigeria except that Nigerians have managed to believe their own hype and delusions. America is unlikely to interfere in a French "territory" no matter the temptation oil or not. France is a very aggressive colonialist and do not suffer fools gladly. Their sphere of direct influence rarely step out of line except if you are Proud Haitians, Guinea Conakry(Sekou Toure) and Vietnamese. They are already trying to woo Kagame back to the fold if only he'll play according to the script. Sincerely, I feel for the Cameroonians. After Nigeria they have the most actual ethnic diversity despite her small population. Nevermind Nigerians thinking that Indonasia, and India have more diversity than Papua New Guinea let alone Cameroons. I understand and appreciate your drift especially the Congress man's thoughts and also using his adopted Ethiopian daughter to buttress his point on so called "sub-Saharan" Africa and the Colonials(France and Britain) and the hapless Ivoriens who are equally lost like the over dressed, tie / bow-tie and badly fitting suits and their women no different from their so called First lady. Change is unlikely until the Franco-phone side decide so or perhaps providence intervenes like in Abacha/Nigeria. They are very apathetic and lazy like most tropical Africans who condone and support mediocrity and foolishness in the name of ethnicity. embarassed sad
Hey Cheikh im well, hope you are too.

I wouldnt describe the US as playing a hapless role in libya, they planned and led the entire invasion but pushed s.tupid sarkozy out in front because he desperately wanted to appear like the leader.

as long as africom is allowed to locate its bases on the african continent it will be very difficult for any african nation to obtain positive change.

CAP28

I've been reading some of your posts and I find them interesting. You mentioned once that Western/European countries work together to ensure that their economies flourish and they hold the upper hand in international politics.

Could you explain Japan's rise to 1st world status in this context? I know that they have resisted western powers in the past (WWII), but would you know of any events that led them to holding their position as developed, technologically advanced, and most respected out of all the Asian countries in international politics?

Apologies for this off topic question, by the way.
thanks nnenna, in order to understand Japan's rise to power you have to go back and look at their history because that is where all the answers lie.

In the early part of the 19th century Japan was a mere shadow of what it was to become much later, it had signed trade treaties with america and europe many of these treaties were not beneficial to japanese trade but instead benefitted europe and america, in a nutshell japan was in the same position that africa currently is today - badly exploited.

During this period japan was under feudal rule, however in 1868 a group of samurai warriors overthrew the feudal system and replaced it with what was known as the meiji system or period of  enlightenment.  from this period onwards japan made huge advancements in their economic and political development - during the meiji period the japanese carried out a number of sweeping reforms which transformed the country -  they abolished the feudal system, reidstributed land, modernised their banking system, introduced a constitution, modernised their educational system and most importantly built up a formidable army and navy - effectively becoming an industrialised nation.  The japanese did all of this without sacrificing their cultural heritage, language and even religion.

Since they had done all of this without any external support they now had the self confidence and sense of invicibility to go on to the next step which was to expand their territory and become an imperial power, they were very successful at this as well, they invaded and colonised many of their asian neighbours including china!

The point im really trying to make in a round about way is that the japanese never compromised their identity to become a powerful nation, they were not colonised, invaded or enslaved - this has enabled them to have a strong sense of self pride and this positive mindset is what has enabled them to rebuld their nation from scratch twice - first in the 19th century and secondly after the US dropped two atomic bombs on their country.

basically what they did was reject all aspects of western ideology that would not benefit japan as a nation but copy and accept aspects of it which would help in the economic and political development of their nation.

In doing so they were able to retain their own cultural heritage and language but by the same token harness all of the knowledge they had acquired and use it to transform their nation - they did all of this within a space of just 50 years!!!

Their rise to power was seen as a threat by the western nations and they had to be stopped - this is one of the reasons why america dropped two atomic bombs on japan during the second world war  even after the japanese had agreed to surrender, the europeans wanted to destroy everything that they had built and then go in and take over, just like they are trying to do with libya.

Also europe and america did not want a non white power to challenge their dominant position on the world stage, despite this japan STILL rose to become a post war industrial economic power.

you know i have been labelled a conspiracy theorist on here simply because i have pointed out to many ignorant NLs on here the role that western nations have played and continue to play in order to ensure that africa never becomes an economic competitor. I have cited numerous factual and historic examples but our people sadly are extremely ignorant and have no knowledge or understanding of world history and africa's place within the world economic system.

I applaud you for taking the time out to do your own independent research, you are now seeing the situation for what it is.

when you cited countries that have been deliberately destroyed by the western nations because of their unwillingness to become economic slaves of western banks and multinationals you forgot to mention the most glaring example - libya - libya is now under 24 hours of bombardment because a criminal organisation known as NATO will not stand for it to have its own independant banking system and nationalised oil industry. The west's mantra is - if we cant use and control you and your resources - we bomb you back into the stone age -that is what they are doing to libya.

get another job where?
in europe or america? because im sure he wouldnt want to exchange his current big salary for the starvation wages that nigerian professors live on.

the minute he criticises america's foreign policy - his teaching career in europe or america will go up in smoke.

To take a stand against america means taking a stand against europe because europe and america are a partnership - soyinka knows this and this is why he is now siding with jonathan, the man is a coward.

Are u ok at all? Where's the logic in your argument? those that withheld recognition temporarily did they do so because of dying civilians? Why take so much pride in displaying such ignorance?
You're not very bright are you?

infact your way of reasoning is so warped that i dont even know how to respond to you.

so in your daft mind the ongoing massacre of nigerians and other blacks in libya is not a good enough reason for nigeria to have refused to recognise the NTC rebels?

so despite all the barbaric killings that are being perpetrated by these animals against nigerians and other blacks you feel it was right for nigeria to recognise these rebels?

perhaps you might have been singing a different tune if your sister or wife were gang ra.ped by those NTC gangs - maybe then it would dawn on you that nigeria should never have had anythign to do with them talk less of recognising their so called murderous govt.

Soyinka is a coward and a traitor, he is only agreeing with jonathan because he is afraid of losing his job in america, he knows that if he condemns jonathan he will be indirectly condemning america (his pay master) he cant afford to do that because they will kick him out of their country.

sycophants like you are the source of our problems in nigeria.

And what else should one expect to hear when an agama lizard gets on cyber space? Soyinka a paid agent? Are there no limits to foolishness? you even had guts to call names - the unbelievable effrontery of a sun heated red necked cold blooded animal!
this is why you people will continue to be led by the nose - how can a supposed intellectual like Soyinka defend Jonathan's cowardly stance on libya?

does it mean soyinka has not heard about all the nigerian people being slaughtered like fowls in libya or is he just afraid of losing the big salary that he earns over in america ?

He must be getting some real good money from that american university for him to lower himself to this level.

I used to have a lot of respect for this man but now i realise he is just like all those other worthless criminals that run nigeria,

i wouldnt be suprised to hear that jonathan has secretly offered him a position in his govt.

the italian judicial system is a complete disgrace -how is it that these two murderers have been allowed to get away with this - could it be because they are white and middle class?

does it mean that the black guy alone raped and murdered meredith?

knox tried the age old trick of pinning everthing on the other black guy knowing full well that the western judicial system is weighed heavily against blacks - unfortunately for her it didnt work - it might have probably worked in america where hundreds of black men go to jail for crimes they never committed.

so knox and her ex boyfriend walk free while the black scape goat rots in jail
