I don't expect the trio of Martial Lukaku and Sanchez to stick to a position. They are supposed to change positions and help drag out defenders but not surprisingly Sanchez has spent most of the first half assisting the midfield.

Well when you start the statement with "Una Martial" it tells one everything. There is no one on the left or right today, we are practically playing a 4-3-1-2 with Sanchez playing behind Martial and Lukaku.

Our performance yesterday was so bad that I had to avoid this thread to avoid typing stuffs that I'd never be proud of.

We don't have a pattern, we are bad defensively, poor attacking wise and can't control the game. The movement of players is the worst I have seen from a United team since I became a fan and in general, I think our poor performance is down to the following reason;

1. Jose Mourinho: Much like the mistake Fergie made by completely changing the bullish Rooney we all loved, Mourinho's decision to sit and act all cool and collected isn't helping matters, the Mourinho that protested every decision against his team, the one that celebrated every goal with passion like it was the last, the one that was always on the edge of the touch line ditching out instructions was much more like it.
I am quite certain that Mourinho will not pander to players, that Mourinho could motivate a lame man to stand up and walk but this version we have looks outdated and uninterested.
Mourinho needs to take responsibility, he needs to do more to motivate the players and make the training session worth it and not a dance parade for Pogba, Lingard and the likes, he needs to be critical of himself and the players.

2. Disunity in the squad:
Ernesto Valverde and Barcelona got Coutinho in the January transfer window but he still isn't an undisputed starter, not when the team is doing excellently well, he is consciously being made to earn his place regardless of his profile.
Every team have leaders and influential players and others who are just lovable, in United, Pogba is very influential amongst the much younger lads, just as Martial is one of the most loved player, you don't get Sanchez in and automatically start him over players who have been doing very well before his arrival, he should be made to earn his place.
The decision to play Martial off position or on the bench has backfired and is still backfiring as is evident with the body language of our players.
You'd notice that after Sanchez was taken off yesterday, Pogba came alive and the team in general began playing well, you can argue otherwise but it seems to suit the narrative I just put up.
Again, the few times Sanchez drifted out to the right, he was more direct and drew fouls in dangerous positions, I don't know why Mourinho is acting stubborn, move Sanchez to the right and let Mata/Pogba play through the middle.

3. Wrong selection/approach to games:
Sanchez for all his brilliance doesn't stretch the game well enough playing from the left, he is fond of cutting into the middle of the park which is mostly crowded, he needs to be paired with an enterprising full Back and not a conservative one like Young.
Also, the approach to matches has got to change if we are to go far in this competition, we'd easily have lost by 2-3 goals if De Gea wasn't in the mood yesterday, the starting midfield invited pressure, we showed next to no desire to attack.

4. Poor attitude of players:
I always watch Liverpool, City, Spurs and in some cases Chelsea and Arsenal play with one thing in my mind, why can't we press just the same way, why do we also invite pressure, we recover possession in our own half where we can't really do damage compared to our contemporaries. This is down to the players and the coach who seems comfortable with our play.
We need to up the tempo, we need to cover more distances and recover the ball higher up the pitch.

This team can do better with the right coaching and methods, at the moment, it's sad to say we haven't taken a step forward with Mourinho and whether or not he can turn things around remains up for debate, one that looks already swayed...

If he wants the team to give it's all he has to show that passion. We don't have a team of winners and superstars, just 2-4 real talented players and the rest average Joe. What should keep them going, performing, is the passion, knowing that they have to leave their all on the pitch. It's OK if the Madrid, Barca, City or other top clubs and spenders play us off the park but not these average and even below average teams when all they have got for them is the passion. Jose should know that he does not have a team of galaticos so he should be on their neck, breathing fire. Even SAF at his old age won't stomach these kind of performance. I'm sure he will be yelling his head off at players, referees, opposition coaches and players.

If we play really well against these average teams and play badly against some of the top teams, I wouldn't be so concerned. But we make huddersfield and the likes look like barca

I don't like Mourinho negative style of football as was displayed yesterday, no team cohesion and the players seems to hate his tactics.
De Gea just kept us on this competition and had it been they scored,then its all over for us.
You guys should understand that Utd will beat Sevila 2-0 in the second leg,just bookmark this.
