Average players are termed world class SMH. Like in this current Barca team, only Messi Suarez, Pique, busquets and iniesta can be called world class. Names like Rakitic, ter stegen, umtiti and masxherano are not world class. In Bayern names like Muller, Robben, Ribery, Baoteng, Lewandowski, Vidal, Alaba, and Neuer are all World class players. We should know who a world class player is before throwing names around.

If Kompany was a Spanish player, Ramos and Pique would've made sure he rots on the bench. The Fabregas that you listed as world-class played understudy to Xavi and Iniesta. To get a shirt during Spain's dominant era no be moi-moi.

So national team levels plays a part in it. I still consider Kompany as a top defender, though. Koscielny is a quality defender, the team he plays for are not top quality.

That being said. Azpilicueta never reached the level of Kompany. Kompany at his Peak was among the best.

Kompany captained city to an EPL title as the leader, and at that time he is one of the best 3 central defenders in the game. He has been nominated several times among Fifa general short list for best players in the WORLD.

Azpilicueta is just a very good player that hardly puts a foot wrong but, is the 3rd choice RB at the national team behind juanfran and Dani carvajal. He is good a good player but not world class.. Kompany at his prime will walk into any national team

Ofcourse, my idea of world class is you must be at least top 5 in your position at any point in your Career, not necessarily now but at any point in your Career or at least win the player of the season at a Major European league(EPL, Laliga, Bundesliga and seria A)

The only world class players currently playing in EPL are :

Coutious, D.Costa, Hazard, Fabregas, Kante, Harry Kane,Hugo Lloris, Aguero, Kompany, D.Silva, Yaya Toure, Coutinho, Petr Cech, Sanchez, Ozil, De Gea, Ibrahimovic, Pogba, Mkhitaryan,Matic, Mahrez and Baba Wazza.

Luiz, Alderweireld, Kocsielny, Mata, Azpilicueta, Jesus, Lukaku,Mane, Lacazzete and Bailly are good players but are not world class.

I might have missed some names though

Only Kanu has a case based on winning African footballer of the year twice, UCL and Olympics as captain. But there is no point in Kanus career that he is among the top 5 striker in world.

Gilberto Silva is a very good player but not world class, kleberson won that same world cup, Mustafi, Arbeloa, Zacardo and krammer are some names of recent world cup winners. Again Pascal Cygan and Francis Jeffers are also part of that unbeaten team.

Kocsielny, while very good a Player is not in the class of Kompany, Ramos, Bonucci, Godin, and Thiago Silva. Kocsielny have never made it into FIFA or UEFA 30-40 man shortlist

Drogba costs 51.62% of the costliest player.

Morata fee= 70m

70/200 x 100 = 35%

Morata costs 35% of world costliest player.

In 2004 Morata would have cost. 46.5 x 0.35 = 16.28m (which is not up to what Arsenal got Antonio Reyes from Sevilla for)

In 2017 drogba would have cost. 200 x 0.5162 = 103.2m
