Romance / Re: Should Men Be Forced To Marry Ladies After Impregnating Them? by captain247: 7:01pm On Jan 22, 2020
wirinet:

Men don't go around having sèx with women with the intention of impregnating them. Most just want to have sèx. The unwanted pregnancy is usually a consequence of carelessness by both parties.

First it depends on culture. Many cultures in southern Nigeria like the Yorubas and many Niger delta tribes don't have illegitimate children. Once it can be proven that a man fathers a child, the child is accorded some rights as a son/ daughter. It's the igbos that the legitimate/illegitimate child dichotomy is practiced.
Besides, inheritance rights is only valid if the man dies interstate, whereby inheritance is subject to customary law. If the man writes a will, then he can will his properties to anyone he likes.

Not practicable. Men are marrying later because of financial stability. You want a man to remain virgin until his late 30's or even 40's, when his hormones starts fighting with him from his teens? The man physiology is not built that way.

Whether marriage or not abortion will still take place. I have many gynecologists as friends, and they tell me that married couples carry out as much abortions than single ladies, especially the rich ones. Many married couples don't want to have more children and see abortions as the last resort of preventing unwanted babies.
Abortion laws just like the bigamy laws are unenforceable. It is impractical for police to be policing private hospitals and other places to arrest doctors, women and nurses carrying out abortions.

DavidEsq:

U can see u are contradicting urself. Having cited the constitution which abolished illegitimacy of a child, u went ahead to again resurrect an already dead concept by citing an example already abolished by the constitution.

You didn't get the picture as related to the topic. If the man marries the lady he impregnated will there be an illegitimate child??
Illegitimacy has been abolished so does that give men right to pregnate girls as they desire and claim they don't want to marry them?
Besides the illegitimacy abolished is legitimate right to inheritance not childs right of identity, dignity, origin and self-actualization.
If the man is not ready for marriage let him stay clear that is the point.
It's because of all this abortion still takes place of which is also against the law 14yrs jail term. And likewise tradition too do not support having child outside of wedlock, in that case the girl will then suffer alone.
Romance / Re: Should Men Be Forced To Marry Ladies After Impregnating Them? by captain247: 8:08pm On Jan 21, 2020
To every action there is equal and opposite reaction.
If you're not responsible enough please don't go near any woman period!
Many of them clamouring child support how many percentage of men keeps to the child support law? And what about the damage to the woman's body, emotions and pains of heart break with her future that will then take a twist of faith by this incident?

Even the constitution supports Child rights.
The right of a child to identity, origin, and self-actualization.
A man had been married under customary and statutory laws to several women at different times but was divorced from all, formally or at will. He also happened to have a son born out of marriage. Now an adult, this son was the only one among all the man's “legitimate” children who dutifully stayed by the man's bedside and at his burial. As he attended to his father's last rites, this young man was inevitably faced with the question of his status and identity.
If you pregnate a lady please ensure you do the right thing life require from you.

In Exodus 22:16 the bible says
"If a man seduces a virgin who is not pledged to be married and sleeps with her, he must pay the bride-price, and she shall be his wife.

But here we are talking about forcing a pregnant lady to a man. May God have mercy on us all.

Food / Re: Is it Nutritious to drink one tin of liquid Peak Milk daily ? by captain247: 2:20pm On Jan 19, 2020
Yes but you can add it daily to Oat meal or Pap in much quantity. It is advisable to Eat natural balance diet. Eat as much food like a fresh pregnant woman. Eat red meat, Snail, Fresh fish, carbohydrates and fatty food too, don't neglect vegetables too.
Avoid skipping meals and eat inbetween meals also. Drink maltina steady. Maltina mix with unboiled egg is the fastest way to get fat but not advisable since you don't know the health condition of chicken that lays the egg.

Pls advice... If a person is earning 130k Monthly and having the intention of getting married soonest and paying rent of 270k/ yearly can he consider that job a good one and moreover can he get married comfoortably?

Well in my opinion Op, calculate your annual income, then deduct ur rent, budget for marriage then see how u can manage what is left with day to day life. Marriage money no be once, you can save gradually for it and your spouse will support too.
You have to live life according to your income .

How will they perform the various activities with skirt ? It's hilarious seeing someone climbing or jugging with skirt, everything will be exposed and can't move freely even. They should give them some task to perform with the skirt and see how they will carry out the task successfully without any complain.

Politics / Re: Stop Using Gender Inequality For Political Gains - Minister To Women by captain247: 7:52pm On Sep 27, 2019
Citizenshelm:
Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has urged women in the maritime industry to stop marketing gender inequality as reason for their lack of appointments into political positions.

Speaking at the 2019 World Maritime Day celebration in Lagos on Thursday, Amaechi urged women to focus on building their competence and lifting one another.

The former Rivers State governor said women get appointments on merit.

“I don’t agree with you on the idea of gender because the struggle is not peculiar to Nigeria alone, it’s everywhere in the world. It’s about the class you belong because there are millions of women and men who are dying of hunger,” he said.

“Women get appointments because they merit the appointment. I have female friends who are very educated.

“And one is Amina Mohammed who was a special adviser to the former Secretary-General of the United Nations. It was when Mr President visited the United States and saw Amina that he was impressed with her and made her a minister.

“Amina got to where she is today because she has a vision and wouldn’t listen to distractions. Life is about courage.

“So I will urge women in maritime to stop begging because it is their entitlement. Women are manipulators and can manipulate men to sign what they wouldn’t want to sign. Women are more brilliant.”

Minister of state for transportation, Gbemisola Saraki, who also spoke at the event, called for an increased amount of scholarship and mentorship to boost female participation in the shipping sector.

This contest wasn't referring to politics but to female seafarers in the maritime industry by the IMO on WORLD MARITIME DAY and as used during DAY OF THE SEAFARER on June 25th this year theme: I'm onboard with Gender inequality.

Nigerian Navy’s first female two-star general, Rear Adm. Itunu Hotonu (rtd) said on Thursday there was need to do away with discriminatory laws and practices which held women back, to achieve true gender equality.

Hotonu said this at the 2019 World Maritime Day Celebration in Lagos, themed “Empowering Women in the Maritime Community”.

According to her, women have long been in the maritime industry in Nigeria, but as usual, as unsung heroes.

She said that there must be strategies for empowering women so that participation would remain on an upward trajectory.

She listed the strategies as: early and focused education, role model and mentorship programme, provision of enabling environment and building women for roles to meet challenges of dynamic leadership.

“Research has shown that economies thrive when there is good gender balance and women are often dynamic leaders of change.

“However, discriminatory laws still hold some women back and a lot is due to cultural and societal barriers, but even a fair share is due to women themselves.

“Mentoring by role models will go a long way in changing these dynamics,” she said.

Hotonu said that the maritime environment had barriers to the involvement of women in shipping, but the society needed to understand that underestimating women would lead to shortchanging terms of operational effectiveness.

She said that when women are exposed to maritime education and experience, the results for the maritime environment would be tremendously progressive.

Hotonu said it was time to acknowledge that women are naturally endowed with unique leadership skills, which if harnessed, would further strengthen the maritime environment.

According to her, sensitising the girl child and making the industry attractive are important in ensuring women participation in the industry.

She said that moving forward, it was time for women to begin to own ships as a matter of course and occupy leadership positions in various sectors of the industry.

“It is time for women to be involved in greater numbers in tapping of Marine resources such as commercial fishing, Marine mining and others.

“It is time to train women who put to sea, equip them with experience, enough education and adequate training,” Hotonu said.

The Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Ms. Hadiza Bala Usman urged policy makers to put out policies that would support girls getting and staying in employment in the maritime industry.

She also said that there was need to accommodate the dynamic nature of women to enable them to thrive in the industry.

Also, Mrs Ify Akerele, former Director General, Nigerian Chamber of Shipping (NCS), urged women to move away from mediocrity and embrace knowledge.

According to her, women should research and look at other countries to see how they do things. She urged them to get serious and be practical in what they do.

11. Always sprinkle palm oil on your tires before driving out.

For what purpose is this please? Don't you think the water on the road already has reduced traction/friction on the tires already? Adding oil will skid the car off the road entirely.
A functioning ABS system is enough and good for the raining season.

I really love this car.. I plan to buy the sle, v6, non convertible..... Please will really appreciate if you can tell me more about this car. Its going to be my first car though. Thanks

The car has very good engine spec but not economical as regards fuel consumption compare to some other type of engines. There is full comfortability and run like jet , best for far journey. It has good security system too with it's auto lock on the doors when gear is moved from park position. Nigeria road is not good for d car unless ur route is good cause of it's low bumper in front. Also most mechanic do not know much about the car so it's best if u do repairs in an automobile shop otherwise they will be fixing your car with that of Toyota Camry parts. The car doesn't give headache at all.

alizma:

Bros, let them do that. When we get there we will cross but first of all, let the meter go round. Remember how much we made calls when mtn came to Nigeria and how much we making calls now. If they increase tariff, i will learn how to on my light when i need it and of it when i don't need it. Intact, i may have to wait till 8pm at night to on my bulb and off it as early as 6am with time they will get sense and do the needful. First thing fiat iis to make selling and using of electricity a real business first by giving the user access to control what he consume and the right to charge fair bill by the bdistributor/seller through prepaid meter

You're right, they are making personal profit that's why they don't want to give everyone the prepaid meter since they make cool cash from estimated bill.

Well the sister might be acting base on experience of the past as many brothers in church take advantage of church to sleep with sisters and abandoned them. Some are Married but will pretend their marriage isn't going well. There are many of them doing it in my church. Most brother's believes if a sister smile so well with them meaning the sister is interested in them and will quickly fast forward in getting the sister's number with intention of only sleeping with the sister not marrying her. Our pastor have noticed the brothers will trick sisters of marriage then before six months the brother will say he is no longer interested and he must have slept with the sister in secret. Pastor will say no jumping from one sister to another and when the six months given for courtship elapsed marriage must take place so that others will stop such act of deceiving the sisters.
