How can a govt that have his people at heart be extorting money from them through various means to enrich only those working in govt parastatals? They stop subsidizing fuel for the masses the only item most Nigerians benefit from the govt, they gave us darkness and double tariff fee for light per month, and now this. They lay up suffering in a roll to the poor and then start giving them a cup of rice with 1/2L of vegetable oil. This present govt is wicked and heartless. Their reward awaits them dead or alive. |

Am surprised if Sahara reporters could have investigated this case this far and yet EFCC is Mute concerning it then the corruption fight is inbalance. |

ednut1:And what difference does it make? You have no idea what it means to have sexual harassment policy in a company. It's not ment for employees alone if u must know. I guess your company too doesn't have such policy in place from your comment. |
Don't your company have policy in place with regards to sexual harassment for all workers? Report him to those handling sexual harassment in your company and they will take him from there. Ensure you have a witness or evidence. Companies are suppose to educate their workers on sexual harassment to employees and managers, setting standard policies that will have positive effect on anyone reported engaging in such act irrespective of gender. |
Op you did well creating the Seafarer thread so all on Nairaland can rendezvous here. Most Nigerians go into sea job just for the money and the opportunity of being employed. The corruption starts from the ship. Most of the vessels do illegal bunkering and that is what attracts people from different profession to flood into the system like as if there is manner offshore. Some companies are aware but instead of fighting it they accept their own share. It's only in Nigeria a company will ask a fresh applicant who has no sea experience to bring WATCH KEEPING CERTIFICATE before he will be employed instead of accepting the person as an OS to enable him get six months sea term before going for EDH and upgrade himself. In Jamaica all their seafarers must attend their maritime school which is two years before obtaining an AB Deck or AB engine license with phases of going to sea in between studies. Maritime Academy is sinking and the ministry of Transport in which the school is under is not responding to her distress. They don't inspect the school any longer to know exactly the problem of the school. It's not about pumping money into the system but ensuring the money being pumped is utilized for its purpose. Several cadets left maritime academy to Ghana maritime because they have what it takes to produce standard mariners not half baked. Most Nigerians go on board to steal and destroy ship items. The insecurity around our waters has a lot to do with illegal bunkering operations carried out by ship crew. We have to embrace discipline in everything we do. Most companies do not accept our license not because they have issues with the Academy but with the country as a nation. They believe anything about Nigeria is fraud or not genuine. Cause those in the office wants their relatives to be in a position weather qualified or not. How will Nigeria seafarers celebrate June 25th Seafarers day when no positive impact to their lives even ordinary protection from Nimasa we don't have. |
The fuel scarcity was as a result of the strike by NUPENG and have been called off today. Most petro stations now has the product. I saw several stations selling today from Aboluma to Eleme. But not sure if they have reduce the price from #200 to #145. |
Thanks VO for your wonderful job on this thread. I travelled to Houston in April last year to join a ship in Freeport as a Seafarer with a Type "D" visa and wanted travelling again around Nov last year aswell but this time my company which is an American company was told that my visa has limitation that I cannot enter the U.S. So I really was wondering if there is a new development regarding the visa for a crew. |

Mr President should go for regular check each time he disembarked any air craft I believe he is being affected by air pressures. Most people do have problems with hearing when the height attain by pilots are too high for their semi-circula canal to apprehend. Wishing him quick recovery. |
Ovwoko.. Adungogo.. inefficiency inefficiency. .e.t.c |
But the minister's weren't appointed same day with the president as at May 29, 2015 so it would be unfair to rate them now. My opinion is that let the minister's serve one year complete before changing the non-effective once. |
The Mississippi River meets the Gulf of Mexico. The two bodies of water never mix with each other, allowing the Gulf of Mexico to retain its clear blue color. Simply amazing! With View from Port of Spain, Trinidad and Kingston Port, Jamaica.

Danfuster:I have been in a similar situation years back where I have to choose between having a job for the money sake and building a career path. Other colleague of mine choose the job with the money and that with time they will find other ways out for their career but I didn't. I waited and hope on God, shortly I got my career path of job. It's a difficult choice to make I must tell u. If you don't have any means of survival go for the later but don't fail to plan your career alongside |

Sold! Sold! Sold! |
All foodstuff have gone high. In my area custard rubber of garri is #700, 4ltrs king size vegetable oil is #2600, 4 plumes of tomato is #300, a kilo of Turkey is now #1,200 nothing is cheap again in Nigeria even fruit is worse small pineapple will cost you #400. To assist friends or relative is now a problem cos the hardship is increasing day by day. |
The government should have allowed the market forces of demand and supply to dictate the price. Look at diesel, prices are between N120 and N125, which are being dictated by market forces since the government has removed its hands of the process. If the government had allowed total deregulation, fuel could be sold for as low as N80 per litre.”[b] Every leader has a reward be it good or bad. The cry of the poor will surely not be in vain. |
