Sports / Cristiano Ronaldo Crowned Men’s Player Of The Year At Dubai Globe Soccer Award by CaptainMeks: 9:49pm On Dec 29, 2019 |
The Juventus attacker wins honour for sixth time, England's Bronze picks up inaugural award for best woman, Liverpool continue remarkable year with three trophies Cristiano Ronaldo was yesterday crowned men’s player of the year at the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards, winning the honour for a sixth time. The Juventus forward, 34, scooped Best Men’s Player of the Year at a glitzy ceremony at the Madinat Jumeirah, with England’s Lucy Bronze winning the inaugural award for best woman. Meanwhile, Liverpool picked up a trio of victories, with Jurgen Klopp voted best coach, Alisson Becker best goalkeeper, and the European champions named best club. Ronaldo retained the trophy he won earlier this year, on the back of a fine year with both Juventus and the Portugal national team. Having moved from Real Madrid the previous summer, he scored 21 goals in Serie A to fire the Turin club to an eighth successive Scudetto. He continued also his prolific strike rate for Portugal, scoring a hat-trick in the semi-final of the inaugural Uefa Nations League as his team went on to win the title. Last month, his goal against Luxembourg lifted his international tally to 99 goals and in the process helped 2016 champions Portugal qualify for this summer’s Euros. “I have to thank my family, my girlfriend, my boy there, Cristiano, my three kids who are waiting for me in the hotel, my friends, my teammates of Juventus and the national team, my agent, all the people here tonight who support this gala,” Ronaldo said. “I have to say thank you to the Arabic community, which is always great with me. I have to thank Dubai as well – it’s a marvellous place to be, I’m coming every year and I love this place. “And finally to thank [everyone] who voted for me. It’s a great honour to be here and receive this amazing award. I hope to be here next year to receive this award, of course. Thanks to everyone, and a happy New Year.” In the woman’s category, Bronze took the trophy following a stellar season with Lyon in which she played an integral role in the club’s march to the French Championship, the French Cup, the Trophee des Championnes and the Uefa Women’s Champions League. The defender, voted the Uefa Women’s player of the year, also starred as England finished fourth at this summer’s Fifa Women’s World Cup. Bronze landed the Silver Ball in France. Of the night’s other winners – 17 awards in all were handed out – Klopp added to his Fifa Best award in September in recognition of Liverpool’s international, European and domestic dominance. After defeating Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final in June, the Merseyside club top the Premier League at the halfway stage. Last week, they clinched the Fifa Club World Cup title for the first time. Brazilian Alisson lifted the goalkeeper award for the second successive year. Elsewhere, Ryan Giggs, the former Manchester United midfielder and current Wales manager, and Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic were each given the Player Career Award. Atletico Madrid and Portugal striker Joao Felix was named Best Revelation Player, which honours players aged 21 and under. There were Arab winners on the night, too, with Al Hilal voted best Arab club for their recent Asian Champions League success and Abderrazak Hamdallah named best Arab player. The Morocco striker top-scored in last season’s Saudi Pro League as Al Nassr sealed the title. Chef2000: Your post below and the parts of interest I don't know why but I keep seeing this guy in my dreams, though we were so close when he was alive (we usually go to set trap for bushmeat when the two of us return to the village when he was alive) You saw your own death before he had his accident which was when you stubbed your foot and fell and he could not lift you up. He however died unknowingly in your place. If you had gone out with him on that day he died, you would have been the one the truck would have hit and killed and not him. So he took your place The part where he wore the clothe in reverse that is inside out shows what happened to him was not meant for him but for you. Indeed he took your place. However this is not the end. Issues like this point at a pattern. Both of you were very close and have obviously done a lot together. Some good, some bad. It is possible that when a certain bad was done by both of you it attracted the fury of someone diabolical who wants both of you gone but you were supposed to be first. You are being warned to be very careful. the danger is not over, only delayed. My advice of earlier still stands. Seek God in prayer. The dark hand laid over your life has to be removed. Sit down and think and i know you will understand a lot of what i said especially at the parts i put in bold. God uphold you 4 Likes 1 Share |

Chef2000: For the sake of doubting thomases here OP i would like to ask you a few questions if you would oblige me. 1) Have you noticed recently that you have been experiencing some near death experiences or tragedies around you? Think carefully before you answer. What i mean is if you have in some way averted or almost experienced situations that should have been certain death to you recently? |

Typhoonsbane: I do not believe the dead are in another world coming back to haunt me and that is where you are so very wrong. I saw what i saw and it had nothing to do with whoever coming to haunt me. They did not reveal to me what i saw (perhaps that is your assumption) but i never said so. Goodluck with your personal realities and leave us to ours. What i know and have seen, you do not know and have not seen 3 Likes |

Typhoonsbane: To fall to the earth and be unable to rise again means death my friend. Since you want me to spell it out to you in kid language. The earth is the final resting place of all mortals. When you fall to the earth and cannot rise from it no matter what you do and this is seen in a dream it translates to death. The car crash was their vehicle to this final destination which is the earth they fell on. Based on the way you reason, your brain is clearly unable to capture some realities 3 Likes |

doggedfighter: Perhaps to you dreams are normal but to some of us who have been able to accurately see into the future through our dreams we know that dreams are not just dreams. E.g I was able to accurately tell a lady who her husband is through a dream i had. She is a single mother who felt nobody would get married to her because of this and had gone through relationship after relationship which failed. She shared it with me and it really moved me. A week later very early in the morning i woke up to go ease myself and as i lay down a brief sleep came over me and i saw this same lady with a guy and i was able to see this guy in detail and both of them were laughing and holding hands and i saw a ring on her wedding finger and she called his name in the dream and i woke up. I called her in the morning and we talked. i described this guy to her and i had not even finished describing when she mentioned his name to me and it was the same name i heard her call in the dream. I told her to remain prayerful. I never told her exactly what i saw or about the ring or anything. i only asked her how close they were. incidentally this guy is very close to her family but had never shown any interest in her. about 3 months or so after my discussion with her, the guy opened up to her about his intention. Today they are married. He has also adopted her daughter as his own. A lot of you know absolutely nothing 14 Likes 1 Share |

Typhoonsbane: It was not coincidence because that was not my first and it has not been my last. Let me list our what you call coincidence 1) I did not dream of anyone else or even one of the twins. My dream was specifically about both of them 2) I did not dream about them in any other car but exactly in the car that came to pick them from school and which they died in 3) I did not dream about them running or jumping or swimming but both of them falling heavily to the ground (earth) and unable to get up If i could "coincidentally" dream of all the above 100% and then get the news 2 hours later that both of them died in the same car then i must be the luckiest guy alive to have that kind of coincidental luck. To die means to be buried in the earth and both of them fell to the ground (earth) unable to get up after they got down from the car. Today i had a vision while i watched Arsenal and chelsea match and like i said, my dreams or revelations always come but i do not choose when they come, i just get them. Arsenal was leading with a lone goal and in my vision i saw accurately what would happen in the game and i posted it hear on Nairaland on the thread about the game on front page. Take a look at it and then come back and talk to me about coincidence. You think you know anything but sorry you know absolutely nothing 10 Likes 1 Share |

Typhoonsbane: You call it superstition right? I guess it was superstitious of me to dream about those twins and about the same car they travelled in and to witness them both fall and unable to get up in the dream only to be told a couple of hours later that they had a car crash and died in the crash in the same car. Keep on calling it superstition you hear? This world is bigger than your small brain can fathom 14 Likes 2 Shares |

Chef2000: When i was in boarding school there were these twin boys who died from a car crash. We were all friends and they were travelling home for the holidays. I had a dream about them even before we heard they died. In that dream i was with them but watching them from a distance and i saw them coming down from the same car that came to pick them from school back home. They both came down but when the second one came down he fell heavily to the ground. The other one began laughing and wanted to help him stand but he could not and instead of pulling him up he too fell down and i woke up. A few hours after this dream we got the news that both of them died in a car crash in the same vehicle that came to pick them from school. I guess the one that fell first died first while the other died shortly after. Why am i saying this? You said you fell in a dream and he tried lifting you up but was unable to. This was the part that reminded me of my own dream. Young man run to God in prayer and seek his face. This is not a good dream at all. Do not take it lightly. If i am to use my own dream to read yours i would say death is knocking at your door. Sorry if i am being blunt but that is how i feel 14 Likes |

Crime / Mpape First Bank Robbery: Suspects Name Alleged Informant by CaptainMeks: 4:45pm On Dec 29, 2019 |
The arrested suspects of the Mpape foiled First Bank robbery attack on Saturday morning have allegedly mentioned the name of the bank branch manager as their informant on whose tips they carried out the attempted robbery in the bank. Afripost recalls that the armed robber suspects successfully gained entry into the branch of the First bank located at Mpape, Abuja but were held under siege by security operatives comprising the Police, Army and DSS personnel following alarm raised by eyewitnesses. The security operatives killed one of the suspected robbers who attempted to escape while 4 others were arrested. The police, in an official reaction, said the FCT Command scuttled the attempted robbery at about 1200hrs. ASP Yusuf Mariam, Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement, said: “Police Operatives were immediately deployed to the scene and engaged in crossfire with the robbers thereby foiling the attack on the bank with the back up of the Military. “Consequently, Four suspects were arrested and one shot dead while trying to escape. The Commissioner of Police has ordered a discreet investigation of the incident”, the spokesman said. “The Command urges residents to remain calm as normalcy has been restored while reaffirming its commitment to nip crime in the bud and ensure safety in the FCT. In case of emergency contact the Command through any of these emergency numbers: 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653 and 08028940883,” he added.
