The Federal Government has said Nigeria will stop importing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and become a net exporter of petroleum products by 2019. Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Mr.Ibe Kachikwu, said this in Port Harcourt, Rivers State when he re-commissioned the Bonny-Port Harcourt refinery crude pipeline Kachikwu hinged his assurance of the country to be a net exporter of petroleum products by 2019 when the co-location refineries would have come on stream. Co-location refineries are refineries located within existing refineries. In Nigeria’s instance, the co-location refineries would be located within the three existing refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna, bring the installed capacity to 650,000 barrels per day from the current 445,000 per day. ‘‘Going forward, by 2019, when the co-location refineries become operational, the country will stop importation of petroleum products and become a net exporter,’’ he said. Meanwhile, the minister has announced that the Port Harcourt Refining Company now produces five million litres of Premium Motor Spirit also known as petrol with the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company also producing two million litres of petrol per day. Advertisement Kachikwu equally said that Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company is also scheduled to start production and added that the coming on stream of the three refineries will go a long way to ensure sufficient supply and distribution of petrol across the country. “Port Harcourt is back in production, Warri is back in production, Kaduna is receiving crude and will soon be back in production. “Lagos is easing off now from fuel scarcity and Abuja is doing the same thing and once Kaduna begins production, the North will see a lot of improvement.” In a related development, Kachikwu commended the contractor for the underground pipleine from Escravos to Warri and Port Harcourt refineries, Ocean Marine Solution, chaired by Capt. Hosa Okunbor, saying despite the fact that the contractor had not been paid before embarking on the job, he did a good job that would help resolve the problems confronting the oil sector. On his part, Okunbor said: “We are very glad that, for the first time over 10 years, we are able to deliver the crude line between Esacrovos and Warri, and crude is now flowing through the pipeline which was impossible over the years. We thank God. We have created serious value for this country using our own resources, “As a company. https://www.today.ng/news/national/111863/fuel-importationll-stop-2019-kachikwu

The European Union (EU) has clarified that it did not ban the export of several agricultural products from Nigeria, as wrongly stated in a number of national newspapers. Head of Trade and Economics Section of the European Union Delegation to Nigeria and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Filippo Amato, during the final national training on standards on code of practices for Nigerian agricultural products for exportation in Abuja with the theme: “Standard and Quality: Unleashing the Potential of Agricultural Products to grow the Non-oil Export in Nigeria,”organised in partnership with the Standards Organisation of Nigeria(SON). While admitting that although it was true that there were a number of food products (such as melon seeds, dried meat, palm oil) imported from Nigeria that were sometimes rejected at the EU border because they were found to contain dangerous substances for human health, Amato said the import suspension measure adopted by the EU only concerned dried beans. “The reason for the import suspension measure of dried beans is that since January 2013 more than 50 rejections have been recorded at the EU border in relation to this product originating from Nigeria, nearly all of them reporting the presence of the unauthorised pesticide dichlorvos at levels largely exceeding the acute reference dose tentatively established by the European Food Safety Authority,” he explained. He said In order to allow the time necessary for Nigeria to provide feedback and to consider the appropriate risk management measures, the suspension of imports of dried beans applies until 30 June 2016,adding that Nigerian authorities must provide an export control plan to assure that the beans exported to the EU comply with the EU Minimal Risk Levels for Hazardous Substances. Amato also said that the key to economic development is not protectionism, but a good mix of policy measures and reforms capable to increase the competitiveness of all sectors of the economy and consequently Nigeria’s trade relations with the rest of the world. He argued that one tool that would considerably enhance trade relations, and increase the potential to diversify the exports from Nigeria to the EU, is the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between the EU and ECOWAS. https://www.today.ng/news/national/111833/did-not-ban-export-nigerias-agric-products

So much pain and agony in politics. |
doublewisdom:find time die it dia! |
Don't fight yourselves over politicians, they always have a meeting point. |
Usual garbage! |
Being the president of the most challenged nation on earth, I guess you know what he's thinking about. When Gej was there , he would take his buzz or sapele water and doze off; by so doing, he let go of so many troubling thoughts, sign anything iweala, diezani , dasuki, etc , brought to his table without knowing. But here we are with a president who doesn't take anything intoxicating or to get 'high', so expect it to be tough for him. May God strengthen BUHARI so he can 'steer' the ship of the Nigerian nation! |
ntbeatz:so he must be seen doing 'press-up ' before you know he's working? |
wallbuilder:trashy trash! |
Cow , tell us the date and time he would die if you know you are trully sent by God! Your prediction failed on Apc in the last election, hence your hatred for them. Useless thing.... |
