Mr Michel Arrion, the Head of European Union Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, says there are more Nigerian nurses in Europe than there are in Nigeria. Arrion told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday that the health professionals would better serve to provide and deliver social services to Nigeria. He said that a situation whereby some Nigerians travel to European countries and remained to work was not in the interest of the country. “You give visas to students and they study in Europe and they stay in Europe. No, please go back and develop your country. I think it is very important. We must avoid what we call brain drain. “I always take the example of the number of Nigerian nurses in European hospitals. There are more Nigerian nurses in European hospitals than in Nigeria. But of course, if they go back (to Europe), if they send back money, that’s very good. “They (Nigerians) should be better trained (in Europe) and come back (to Nigeria) and better serve and provide and deliver social services to their compatriots,” he said. Earlier, Arrion, in a statement said that Nigeria was an important country of origin of regular and irregular migration to the EU and its member-states. According to him, many of them risk their lives and perish in the Mediterranean. The EU official explained that there were almost 9,000 Nigerian illegal migrants in Europe in 2014. “In 2014, Nigerians accounted for an estimated 8,700 out of the 283,532 irregular migrants entering EU borders, many of whom risked their lives crossing the Mediterranean. “However, majority of Nigerians enter and reside in EU legally and millions of Diaspora Nigerians are residing in the EU. “As a regional economic power, Nigeria is also on the receiving end of migration, attracting an estimated three million labour workers from neighbouring countries. “In the first half of 2015, Nigerian citizens ranked ninth of all persons granted international protection in EU’s 28 member states. “Nigerian nationals are the most numerous among non-European victims of trafficking in human beings and they are also the most numerous among traffickers,” he said. https://www.today.ng/news/national/78154/there-are-more-nigerian-nurses-in-europe-than-in-nigeria-eu

Obiagelli:I'm really touched by this comment from you. Maybe we keep praying to God to see us through. It's hard to believe some of this figures are being thrown around by BUHARI's aid. The budget is another thing that has attracted my anger. Who are the people behind this show of shame? |

On arriving home, the Landlord’s son offered Lowo his room to pass the night. But he declined the offer stating clearly that ‘all was fine as he trusted his wife and believed she didn’t mean to harm him’.This is how this guy killed himself. A wife that stabbed at first, you should do everything to break that marriage that night and not going back to trust abd sleep with her under the same roof. She's ugly for anyone to die in her hands in the name of marriage. |
Angelberry:Before I comment on that , I want to be sure- that again does not take away the fact that somethings are wrong with the budget; I can't believe we are buying chairs and computers for the aso rock again. Yeah... I did , after a while I slept off. I'm single... ![]() |

Jose Mourinho has said he is not enjoying his time out of work and will soon be back in management. He was sacked as manager of Chelsea in December seven months after winning the Premier League title. He said of his current unemployment, “I am not enjoying it. To be fully happy I need everything, so I go back to football. I think it’s my natural habitat.” He did not comment directly on media reports that have heavily linked him with Louis Van Gaal’s job at Manchester United. But he did say that his family will remain in London and that he liked the competitiveness of English football. “For sure, I will be back soon,” the Portugese told GQ magazine in an interview published on its website (www.gq-magazine.co.uk). It did not say when the interview took place. “(London) is an amazing place to live and for the family to be together,” said Mourinho. “As a professional, I am ready to move,” added the former Real Madrid coach. “I need competition every week. In Spain I was at an amazing club but I had four matches a year – Barcelona v Real Madrid, Real Madrid v Barcelona.” Mourinho, who also won the league with Chelsea in his first two seasons there from 2004 to 2006, suggested that he deliberately created “instability” among players once they won trophies, to avoid any complacency. “If you are in a club that wins, if you want to win again you have to create instability in the winners,” added the Portuguese, fired by Chelsea after a run of poor form by the champions. “You have to make them doubt, you have to buy new players, you have to make them feel not in their comfort zone. “There is a normal tendency to go to your comfort zone. If you don’t react, if you believe that just because you won in one year that you are going to win again, it’s very difficult.” http://www.theheraldng.com/i-am-not-happy-that-i-am-jobless-mourinho/?utm_source=dlvr_nnd&utm_medium=twitter

The Head of Department of Educational Technology at the University of Ilorin, Prof. Mudasiru Yusuf, has urged Nigerians to re-evaluate themselves to be more honourable. In a lecture organised by the Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates Association (UNIFEMGA), Yusuf said that 62 per cent of Nigerian women were unfaithful. In the lecture entitled “Honour in a Nation, Where Honour is a Luxury,” Yusuf said that almost all aspects of the nation was unfortunate to be characterised with dishonest individuals. “The issue of honesty has to do with ethos and integrity; even Allah had honoured man, it is man who therefore has degraded himself and brought himself low,” he said. According to him, God is divine and clean and does not accept any act except clean and honourable actions from his creations. Yusuf, who criticised people using their position to tarnish the image of the country, however, commended the few who remained resolute in performing the best actions and remained honourable. Earlier, the President of UNIFEMGA, Prof. Abdulwahab Egbewole, said the policy trust of the programme was to identify with members in realising a family centred mantra as a core value. He pointed out that honour was a scarce commodity in the country where those perceived as honourable were indeed dishonest. “As a policy, we do not honour members with political appointment and we only celebrate our members who are appointed to political office after their tenure,” he said Speaking in the same vein, Malam Yusuf Ali (SAN) said that the programme was about honouring Muslims who had achieved distinction, while recognising excellence and challenging others to offer their best to the society. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the programme was chaired by the Chief Judge of Kwara, Justice Suleiman Kawu. A total of 13 members were honoured, included Justice Munta Abimbola, Chief Judge of Oyo State, Alhaji Taofik Oladipupo, Permanent Secretary in Oyo State Ministry of Lands and Housing, the Director of Administration at INEC, Dr Muslim Omoleke, and others https://www.today.ng/news/national/76504/62-of-nigerian-women-unfaithful-don
