A Nigerian journalist and activist, Agba Jalingo and his friend, Jonathan Ugbal escaped being kidnapped today by unknown gunmen while travelling from Calabar, Cross River to Lagos state.

It was gathered that the attack took place when they reached Amadik community in Arondinzogu, Imo state as three gunmen flashed their guns and ordered therm to stop.

Our encounter with kidnappers/robbers.

I woke up this morning in Calabar to find out that flight ticket to Lagos from Calabar was 68k. I was angry with AirPeace and decided to put one of our cars on the road and hit Lagos. I called Jonathan Ugbal to come drive. We had a smooth journey until we got to Imo state and things changed.

Location: Amadik community, Arondinzogu

About 3pm. A Toyota Highlander SUV that was speeding after us appeared by the passenger side and there were three guys inside. Two flashed AK47 rifles at us and commanded us to stop or they shoot.

Jonathan Ugbal was driving. I encouraged him not to stop. Don't stop! I screamed. Reverse and let's run. Jonathan reversed successfully and we zoomed. And the worst happened.

Fulani herdsmen were carrying their herd around and the cows strayed into the express. I told Jonathan to run into them. He did. One cow died and one of our front tire busted. The impact of the car hitting the cows also forced the bonnet of the car open and blocked the windscreen and we couldn't see our way again, with one front tire down, the vehicle lost control and began to swerve.

The bandits kept shooting at our vehicle from behind and the bullets pierced several holes behind the car but we both lowered our heads and kept pushing. The straying cows became a blessing. The cows stopped the bandits' vehicle from the pursuit while our car was still swerving until it hit a tree and got damaged.

We both jumped down and ran into a very thick forest. The bandits came down, ran after us on foot kept firing indiscriminately while we were in the forest. We spent over an hour in the forest and came out.

The man through whose compound we ran into the bush showed us where his ceiling was riddled with bullets and how the bandits forcibly broke all his room doors asking him to bring us out so they can take us away but couldn't find us. They also shot two cows dead possibly for blocking their pursuit.

They also ransacked our car and stole our laptops, bag of clothes, Jonathan's phone and other things. When we emerged, the Fulani herdsmen now started round two. They insisted we must pay for their dead cows.

A good Samaritan took us into hiding in his house after we managed to stealthily remove my phone which had fell into my shoe. (I managed to find my own phone because it fell into my shoe which I had removed while we were driving. The phone miraculously fell into my shoe and the bandits didn't see it.)

I then put a call across to the Cross River state Police Commissioner, CP Hafiz Inuwa, who promptly called the Imo CP. Some cops from federal SARS were sent down.

When they arrived we emerged from hiding and the police rescued us from the herdsmen and took us to Okigwe SARS office. Another team was also sent to go tow our car and the car is now safely parked at the SARS office in Okigwe.

While in SARS office, the commander got a call that the same three man gang driving the same car had kidnapped one Eze and killed another man who was driving a Lexus jeep. They went to pick the body while we were still writing our statements. The police congratulated us for escaping being kidnapped.

The residents of Amadik also told us how they run like they did today, sometimes up to five times a day, because of the way kidnappers way-lay people on the road and cause them to run into their community in panic.

As I type, our bodies are riddled with bruises we sustained from fighting with the elements in the thick forest. We are as dirty as mechanics and our clothes were all stolen so we can't even change.

We want to thank the commissioners of police in Cross River and Imo States for their prompt response. But most importantly. I want to specially thank God for continually proving to be God in this our journey.

This is the second time in 3 months we are escaping death.

This is really serious. A taxi driver was forcibly washed in public by his colleagues after they accused him of failing to bathe for several days.

The incident happened recently in Kapenguria town, Kenya. 

In a hilarious video which is currently trending online, the taxi drivers can be seen bathing their colleague in public who was totally naked.

They poured gallons of water on him and forced him to wash himself right there in public.

The taxi drivers revealed that this is done to whomever they receive complaints about or suspect of not having his bath.

One person has been killed and another injured following an argument with vigilante members in Bauchi state.

According to reports, the vigilante members stormed the shop of the victims and urged them to shave their hair but the young men refused which led to a heated and tensed argument.

One of the men was said to have been killed in the course of the argument while his colleague was left injured and was rushed to the hospital. 

It should be known that in some areas in the northern part of Nigeria, keeping Afro or bushy hairs are not allowed as defaulters are forced to shave them or be seriously dealt with.

There was chaos after some operatives of the special anti-kidnapping squad (SAKS) of the Nigerian Police Force, Delta State Command, allegedly caused an accident within GT Bank in Asaba.

According to reports, the police officers were chasing a Toyota Camry car driver who they mistook for an internet fraudster known as 'Yahoo Boy'.

The tricycle rider and the four passengers are currently admitted at Federal Medical Center Asaba receiving treatment.

The officers who took the injured victims to the hospital were made to take care of the bills.

Residents woke up on Saturday morning (today) to the shocking sight of a young lady found dead in Kaduna state. 

The unidentified lady was found dead in an unclad state near a market in the metropolis as no one knows what really happened to her. 

The authorities were notified before police officials arrived the scene and evacuated the corpse which was deposited at Gwamna Awan General Hospital. 

Efforts are being made both online and online to locate her family to claim the corpse. 

A Facebook user, Bitrus Philip, wrote; 

Is a black 1st December for us in television, we woke up this morning and found this lifeless body near the maket,and nobody could identify her. If anybody knows her should go to Gwamna Awan general hospital Nassarawa Kaduna. Or Sabo Police division Kaduna.

The Bayelsa born football juggler, Tonye Solomon popularly known as Deeboi Juggler has embarked on another journey to set a world Guinness record. The young man and multiple record holder is currently swimming across a 500 meters river in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state capital, as at the time of filing this report (update; he has finally completed the exercise successfully).

He was accompanied by some officials and other residents who followed him in boats to monitor the exercise. A drone was also used to monitor the exercise. 

Some months ago, the 30-year-old man left the people of his state and the entire country in awe after he climbed a 130ft mast with a ball balanced on his head earlier this year.

The man who hails from Okordia/zarama in Yenagoa local government area -achieved the previous world record by walking 52km , with a football on his head, from Amassoma (the home of late Alamieyeseigha) to Yenagoa (Bayelsa capital)…

A young lady who was just called to Bar has taken to social media to appreciate her father who is a barrister. The young lawyer  narrated how her father supported and encouraged her during her stay in school as she joins him in the legal profession.

The father was in an elated mood as he and his daughter posed for pictures in their robes after her call to Bar ceremony in Abuja.

A police officer who was shot dead by armed robbers in a hotel in Niger state, has been laid to rest. 

The deceased identified as SP Aduku Omale Simon, a native of Ugwolawo in Ofu local government area of Kogi State, was killed few weeks ago by armed robbers in a hotel in Mandala, in Niger State.

He was buried recently at his hometown in Kogi state. 

Before his death, SP Aduku was the Officer - in-laws Charge MSS Maiduguri, Borno state.

He was said to have visited Abuja for a One Day Seminar at Force Headquarters before the sad incident.

He was shot dead during a robbery operation in a hotel in Mandala outskirt of Abuja where he was putting up and was said to have been killed after the robbers discovered he was a police officer.

A young man and a student of Michael Okpera University of Agriculture, Umudike in Abia state has been killed by suspected cult members.

It was gathered the cult war between Black Axxe Confraternity known as 'Aiyes' and Apache cult group - saw the deceased shot dead at close range after being attacked by alleged rival cultists. 

He was killed on Monday night around 9pm at German base, back of the stadium in the area by Black Axxe cultists. 

Neighbours of the deceased who gathered after the attackers had left, took their colleague's corpse on a motorcycle to the hospital/mortuary.

A young lady simply identified as Angel was found completely naked and in pains in a bush close to a church in Benin city, Edo state.

Some stitches were also discovered below her navel and injuries on other parts of her body indicating that her body was tampered with by unknown persons who abandoned her there. 

A resident of the area identified as Mr. Paul revealed that the lady was discovered on Tuesday morning after a security guard notified him.

Other residents alleged that the lady might have been a victim of unknown persons who used her and dumped her in the area. 

She was later rushed to the hospital for treatment after the police were notified. 

Ladies and other Nigerian citizens have been warned to be careful of their movements especially this crucial time of the year.

A Zambian socialite and dancer, Iris Kaingu was bounced while trying to meet Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex at the Burma Barracks in Lusaka, the country's capital city on Tuesday.

According to media reports, the slay queen who is known for her porn and nude pictures - was ejected from the military facility even before the 34-year-old grandson of Queen Elizabeth arrived.

The Prince was then due to meet World War 1 veterans and widows at Burma Barracks to commemorate 100 years since the end of the war on Tuesday. As he was being awaited by a small group of carefully selected guests and a handful of accredited journalists in the barracks, a beaming and attractive Iris pitched up donning a white loose fitting dress, centimetres shy from touching knees.

The lady shook hands with a few waiting journalists before making her way to the memorial hall where the war veterans and widows had been staffed to await the Prince.

However, shortly after, Iris was seen being talked to by a uniformed military man before they walked together towards the exit of the barracks.

Prince Harry then arrived about 15 minutes later and proceeded to fulfill his programme with Iris nowhere in sight.

Iris Kaingu made headlines last year after she went totally unclad in order to be painted by an artist. Ms. Kaingu was also convicted by the Lusaka Magistrate Court in 2002 for making a porn video

A 49-year-old civil servant in Ekiti State and father of five , Mr. Abolarinwa Olaoye, on Tuesday’s  night,  hung himself  at the State Secretariat in Ado Ekiti, state capital.

His body was found, on Wednesday morning, hanged  with a piece of clothes to the  railing of a building at the Ministry of Education, where he had reported to duty  around 6:00p.m, on Tuesday.

It was gathered that the deceased was a night guard at the Ekiti State Scholarship Board.

The development had caused palpable fear and apprehension within the civil service in the state capital , as civil servants  clustered near the spot of incident and lamented the horrible fate that befell the man whom they described as jovial and amiable while alive.

A crowd of sympathisers crowded the scene of the incident and others from the old Governor’s Office, which was about one and half kilometers distance came around to catch a glimpse of the suspended body of the deceased.

Following the recent clampdown on touts and criminals operating around Anambra State, various robbers operating in upper Iweka area of Onitsha, have been arrested.

In a video released following the arrest this evening, a young man of about 25 years was seen narrating to the operatives who arrested him, how he acquired charms from a native doctor who lives Okpoko (a nearby city), to rob people of their handbags and cellphones.

The suspect who showed off the charm claimed that when he holds it, nothing can penetrate his body including knives and bullets - making him "bulletproof".

The robbery suspect was arrested along with other hoodlums after attacking a lady and robbing her of her valuables. 

They were given a hot pursuit and apprehended by the security operatives. 

The hoodlums have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for prosecution.
