Nigerians should have known better by now and not generalise. Culture always vary from one community to the other.

Religion / Re: Can I Pay My Tithe To My Church And Widows According To Deuteronomy 26:12? by CeeCJay(m): 2:04pm On May 17, 2020
MasterJayJay:
THE TRUTH ABOUT TITHE.

Introduction: If your pastors say giving the needy, widows, orphans 10% of your income is not tithe, that you must pay it to him, then you are attending a business centre, not a church.

Malachi is the favourite book most pastors use to preach tithe. And it is very obvious, they use it because it contains a curse for those who don't pay it. Therefore, it is the 'best' verse used to brainwash Christians.

If you want to preach tithing, preach all verses related to it. Most of these men of God know the other verses but the only one they preach to their audience is Malachi. The sheep they are leading are even lazy to read their own bibles to see the truth for themselves. Note that quarter of truth is no truth, truth must be whole. Don’t add, don't remove.

Tithing is an Old Testament concept, just like circumcision and animal sacrifice. Things Christians were meant to abide to have validations from New testament after death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. There is nowhere tithe was clearly instructed in the New Testament after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The New Testament focuses on giving without compulsion. 2 Corinthians 9:7 captured it very well “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver".

If you believe in tithing, then you should see other verses of the bible to know how it was applied thousands of years ago. Tithes were not for gentiles, it was for the Jews. Tithes were for the Levites, descendants of Levi. How many of your Pastors that preach Malachi to you are descendants of Levi?

There is a particular portion of the bible most pastors will never preach to you, and that can be found in Deut 14.22-29. Tithe was instructed to be given to the strangers, orphans, widows etc. How many pastors can boldly tell their members to give their tithes to widows and those in need?

Conclusion, if you want to pay tithe, that's your choice. But don't use outdated and obsolete verses like the one found in Malachi to threaten people. Are some verses outdated? Animal sacrifices were allowed in the Old Testament. After Jesus Christ paid for our sins, it made animal sacrifices to be outdated, and that includes tithes too.

For detailed explanation on tithes see this thread

It's an eighteen months visa and if you are under 31, have a degree in engineering in the last two years from institutions under the Washington accord and some few selected institutions worldwide then you can apply otherwise look for an alternative to migrate.

Thanks.

as per lecture, ABU masters is full time, except few courses that are offer as PT.

however you and your colleagues are at liberty to adjust your timetable to suit your need, within thur - sat, but in agreement with your lecturer. as most of them are also studying or doing one research work or the other.

Thank you for the info.
I'm looking at Power Systems Engineering in Electrical dept,... Do lecturers often victimize students for some reason?
Please shed more light on Electrical Power Systems Engineering...I am not a northerner. What is your advice?

Hello guys,

Kindly share postgraduate study experience in ABU Zaria. It has been rumored that lecturers of certain ethnic groups form cliques and tend to make live difficult for students without backup in their cliques (especially in PG level). I would like this rumor to be put to bed.
Opinions from Engineering and other faculties will be highly appreciated.
Additionally, what does the MSc timetable generally, look like...how many lectures a week?

Thank you...

The Bible verse they'll never mention while preaching about tithe
Deuteronomy 14: from 22
Well, for me, tithe should be given to those who need them, the needy. I'm not sure it was written in the above verses that tithes should be given to pastors to do whatsoever they want. #MyPoinOfView

Wroxxane:

That's where the age long saying 'cut your coat according to your size' comes into play. Discussions prior to the said meeting date as per where to go, when to go and how to go, should have been sorted out. There should have been some sort of closure so cases like 'she chop my money go' would be greatly reduced... besides the way a guy portrays himself to a lady says a lot. You can't be forming odikwa big and not expect her to have high hopes about the first date.
When he "cut his coat according to his size" he becomes a victim of 3 (He chooses local restaurant for date).

Ramos16:

Most of what you say a plain rubbish... what you have said simply means you have not passed through a Nigerian university, or you are a first or second year student.

I am going to scrutinize each one of your points to show you how they fail woefully

Point Number:

1) PART OF SPEECH: If I ask you how many part of speech you know and use consciously, I bet it won't be more than 3, Noun, Pronoun and maybe verbs..... This is a very useless point, can you remember how to solve quadratic equations using Completing the Square problem, or calculate the distance and time between two points on the globe using Longitude and Latitude as ref? If you can't solve it without consulting a book or the internet, then you also are halved baked cos you have been doing maths since kindergarten

2) READING: I do not think there is no graduate that "can't" read more than two pages... If they find it stressful its a whole different thing, but to say they can't because of the level of education.. well, if at all it will apply to like 0.0000000000000000001% of the graduate population.

3) and 4) MECHANICAL ENGINEERING & ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING: This is plain stupid, the fact that you can't understand that number 3 and 4 belong to the same category and should be treated as one number is dumb of you, plus this point should not apply to only those two, it should go as far as the whole possible courses offered in the university. Your lack of understanding of what goes on in the Engineering faculty can be pardoned if you are not an Engineer. Engineering goes far beyond Fixing light bulbs or fixing your own car, what do you expect of an Mech Engineer who specialized in Thermodynamics or Air Conditioning (PS: for those who don't know Air conditioning does not imply just to that your home appliance), or an Electrical Engineer who specialized in Telecommunication or Computer, I studies Electrical and Specialized in Telecoms.

If you are to make that a point, you should talk about things that are really related to that persons course, like an Electrical Engineer not being to analyze and build a circuit or a Mechanical Engineer not being able to develop a prototype for an Engineer, things are related to the actual/specific thing they have studied, I am not saying that a Nigerian graduate should know all these, because in the University in Nigeria, nobody trains you that way, so you can't blame them.

This point applies to Computer Scientist who can't write a simple program, or medical doctors who can't perform surgery, these things take time, and it is after graduation that you are expected to develop the skills..

5) Inability to Teach Others Mtchewww, Don't you have lecturers that can't teach, do you think everybody was built to teach?

6) Confidence : Confidence is a whole different skills, it is not learnt in school, it is virtue of the way an individual is brought up, its psychology.. so no point here

7) Cant' Read and Write: This point is the same as number 2)

cool Can's User MS Word: I don't know why this is a point, but I can't argue with you on this, but trust me anybody is excused if they can't use MS Word, you think say na everybody get money like your father to afford a computer?

9) Discussing in Beer Parlours: Firstly I totally love beer parlours, secondly, I believe there are cultist who are first class graduates and lecturers seff, its low of them to keep on discussing of such things, but it does not mean they are half baked.

10) Watching Porn and Chatting with girls: I do not see how the Blackberry or Iphone strengthen this argument, so I removed them, about watching porn, well I can be the CEO of Shell and watch porn and also chat with random girls, nobody grows beyond chatting with new girls.
I wanted to like this 10 times but nairaland wouldn't allow me...

Is this still an issue?
I see people are really getting this wrong.
FYI: -(3+3) is not = (-3+3), the later is correct and the answer will never change from 12 no matter how YOU argue.
3+3*3-3+3=3+9-3+3
=12
You may want to use stones or sticks to work it out if you are still confused (just like in primary school)
