Eddy2cute: These usa people have come again. Ah ah won't they leave us alone? Give us zmmap they said no, they were also the first to call our nanosilver insecticide. Watin Nigeria dem dem self. Now that God is helping us to contain the ebola here jejely, they now want us to go and be helping other countries, xpecially the God forsaking liberia that xported it to us @ the first place? Hummmm minister of health, better take your time oh and let every body bear him papa name ooo.www.sunnewsonline.com/new/?p=78062 |
jkendy: We restored peace in their country by sacrificing our gallant officers in their God-forsaken land, only for them to pay us back by importing that nonsense disease to our countryIn his response, Chukwu said, “Nigeria has always been her brothers and sisters’ keeper. Nigeria helped and founded ECOWAS. You remember it was during Gen. Yakubu Gowon, when he was Head of States, that ECOWAS was established. Nigeria will continue to play that leading role in ECOWAS. We are going to assist our sister nations. Let me also reaffirm that the United States of America has fully been part of this battle; how to contain the Ebola Virus Disease in Nigeria. US CDC has done wonderfully well. “Even if you go remotely, part of the infrastructure we have in Nigeria was because US CDC worked with Nigeria to get them established. So, we are grateful to the government of United States; and the support continues to come in. Even some of the hand-held infrared thermometers we are using were provided by the United States government.” |
porka: You will come here and criticize something that somebody presented in a trado-medicine setting but will secretly go and test it every morning when no one can see you?Cut that crap, man... I don't even know what ewedu tastes like... I eat enough vegetables already in my soup. Not everybody rushed to drink saline water and chew kola to stupor on hearing some "report". |
I'm happy seeing the responses on this thread..... We don't need any half-assed hypothesis on ebola cure, we need thorough research and development. Ewedu ko.... Like we didn't know vegetables and general healthy eating can boost the immune system... Which still leaves the chances of survival of ebola at 60% tops... |
$1.14 billion for 2.7GW?? That's highly ambitious, if not unrealistic. |
Patton Boggs was also reported to have asked for non-lethal protective hardware to be donated to Nigeria such as mine-resistant armoured personnel vehicles, night vision goggles and communications equipment from Iraq and Afghanistan stockpiles left over from the US’ war in the countries. #facepalm.... |
phreakabit: Totally agree with the emboldened. However if you notice, I stated that it should be volunteer based. Most would have signed up, some would opt out. A simpler approach would have seen Africans and the infected Caucasians getting the same serum/medication in different geographical locations. So far, 3 caucasians and three Africans have been given the serum (stand to be corrected).. Two Africans and two caucasians survived.... Scarcity promotes priority. The less scarce and faster produced TKM-ebola, Favipiravir and gsk vaccine will all (hopefully) make significant impact in the containment and possibly cure of the virus |
phreakabit: I think he asked a credible question. Human (Infected) tests would have been the best way to go in a situation like this. Distributing forms for voluntarily consenting to being used as subjects in a research would have been the easiest way to choose willing participants among patients. It is safe to assume some will back out after being told the dangers involved in being test subjects. This would have provided forehand knowledge of the drugs efficacy on a larger amount of infected humans pending safety tests confirmation. Everyone knows the easiest way to get rich in America is via law suits. . . If the American govt wasn't worried about that when they used Zmapp on their infected citizens, why should they be, to use it on desperate Africans who were thought to have a slim 30% chance of survival, pre-Nigeria survival rate?Do you agree that releasing such unapproved experimental serum en masse by the West in such epidemic is a conspiracy theory fodder on its own?.. The laid down procedures must be followed, the best WHO has done is to fast-track a process that would have taken five or more years to a couple of months. |
thegoodjoehunt3: WHO members already proved his logic was wrong. If it was his daughters infected, do you think President Obama would care about procedures?Tough luck, we're not his kids... WHO had to hold an ethics committee meeting before the use of experimental drugs were approved.... That's why tkm, favivapir and gsk vaccine have been fast-tracked for trials... |
phreakabit: Accusations and counter accusations, my point exactly. We all have strong opinions stemming from our various philosophies. There are procedures in doing certain things.... if it were a Hollywood flick, the cure would have popped up overnight and administered without thorough trials... This is reality. The reason you are so mad at the West is cos you thought ebola was an automatic death sentence, of which a simple googling would have calmed your nerves. Obama said we need to focus on medical infrastructure, containment measures and supportive care - all which are the reason we've had a low fatality rate so far. President Barack Obama said: "I don't think all the information is in on whether this drug is helpful. What we do know is that the ebola virus - both currently and in the past - is controllable if you have strong public health infrastructure in place. "Let's get all the health workers that we need on the ground. Let's help to bolster the systems that they already have in place. "And then during the course of that process, I think it's entirely appropriate for us to see if there are additional drugs or medical treatments that can improve the survivability of what is a very deadly and obviously brutal disease." |
phreakabit: Don't let emotion preceded over reason. Zmapp supplies were exhausted on 2 Americans, yet it was available for a Spanish priest. . . . Exhausted again until a Brit got infected, and then 3 Liberian based health workers ( one Nigerian) were given Zmapp after much pondering and deliberations. Still had enough Zmapp for 18 monkeys though. . Just saying. BTW don't "Zmapp tobacco thingy take 4 months to grow "?When pfizer tested some meningitis drugs in kano (with 10% fatality rate, they got their pants sued off to the tune of $75million . zmapp hadn't even reached that phase of human trials stage yet. The Japanese flu drug, TKM ebola and the gsk vaccine are far ahead in the trial process, hence their approval for mass trials. |
phreakabit: Not in Nigeria. . . .This is not a "Nigeria" problem... It's a global threat. |
They ought to be confirming such diagnoses via lab tests before they announce it. It could be lassa fever or just plain old typhoid. |
phreakabit: Our application for Zmapp was turned down prior to the 50% survival rate u speak of .Yeah, but hundreds had survived it in other parts of West Africa by then. Ebola has NEVER killed 100 percent of infected since 1976 .... Right from when zmapp or any other experimental drug hadn't even been conceptualised.... |
phreakabit: Your assertion and inference are outright childish and somewhat far fetched. Its worrying how a handful of you in hear go berserk and jump into a wild frenzy throwing accusations around, when America is mentioned. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I for one see America as profiteering capitalist whose only reason for not giving Nigeria Zmapp was the fear of having a survivor we could use for blood transfusions. That's some high-octane bullshit @ the bolded there.... did you miss the part that like 50% of victims typically survive the EVD... It's a fact documented by western medical researchers themselves. There's no way we wouldn't have had survivors, zmapp or not and they know it. |
Samyj247: I still stand that NANO SILVA is the cure for Ebola. I wonder wat is wrong with or health sector. Its like they dont even sit down and think at all. The saying that NANO SILVA is a pesticide, is a big conspiracy that every Nigerian should debunk. There we go again..... www.sunnewsonline.com/new/?p=78062 |
MissMeiya: It is becoming increasingly obvious that the health mod has a grudge against America. From whipping up anti-American sentiment with misleading to outright FALSE headlines during the whole Nanosilver debacle, Now, we get an article about a flu drug from Japan, that they want to TEST to see if it works on Ebola. But, today, American pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline began human trials for an Ebola vaccine. I doubt very much that thread will make it to the front page. Ever.Who knows,, Seun may be an anti-West, nanosilver-thumping conspiracy theorist in disguise as well... #runs from the thread#! |
phreakabit: American apologist. What do you stand to gain or prove by insulting one stating his own opinion? We ought to have done what the Japanese did, not begging for some experimental cocktail. Go to the isolation centre in Lagos. Americans are fully involved there risking their lives. Likewise all the ebola-ridden zones. |
Lilimax: Na wao!.Yeah, a lot of peeps missed that line. |
bushdoc9919: The Chinese are working on Ebola...they have invented a 'strip test' , or a test kit ...for the virus. That's actual research.... Not buying some antiseptic online and claim it's invented in Nigeria. |
pendusky: All the lab scientists here still keeping mute and won't say anything .. what happened to nano Silver ? any post from lab scientists here on Nairaland would and should be moved to jokes sectionwww.sunnewsonline.com/new/?p=78062 |
ikp4succes: What happened to our Nano Silverwww.sunnewsonline.com/new/?p=78062 |
Youpele52: Is there anyone or government having the patent of malaria or typhoid?Hehehe... NaturalNews? "NaturalNews.com (formerly Newstarget ) is an anti-science conspiracy website founded by Mike Adams (self-labeled "The Health Ranger" ) which promotes assorted woo. [1] The site particularly specializes in vaccine denialism, [2] AIDS/ HIV denial, [3] quack cancer medicine [4] and conspiracy theories about modern medicine. [5] It also promotes quantum woo , specifically to do with many worlds and quantum consciousness .[6] The site advances a hard green position [7] and also promotes conspiracy theories about Obama and gun control . Even other quacks think it's a quack site. [8] If you cite NaturalNews on any matter whatsoever, you are almost certainly wrong." As for malaria (plasmodium)... Check this out. www.freepatentsonline.com/5541292.html As for typhoid ( salmonella) , check this out... www.freepatentsonline.com/WO2010094699A1.html |
rickkid: This report is disinformation.Oh, another conspiracy theorist site?? Globalresearch.ca (also under the domain name globalresearch.org ) may best be described as the moonbat equivalent to WorldNetDaily (albeit not as "succesful" as WND). It is the website of the Montreal - based non-profit The Centre for Research on Globalisation (CRG) founded by Michel Chossudovsky. The website describes itself as an "independent research and media organization." Globalresearch.ca considers itself to be a reliable "alternative news" source serving as a major repository of a broad range of "news articles, in-depth reports and analysis on issues which are barely covered by the mainstream media" (such as the New World Order). Its politico -economic stance is strongly anti-capitalist , anti- imperialist, anti-militarist , "internationalist but anti-globalization ." Its view of science , the economy and geopolitics seems to be broadly conspiracist. While many of Globalresearch.ca's articles discuss legitimate humanitarian or environmental concerns, the site has a strong undercurrent of reality warping and bullshit throughout its pages, especially in relation to taking its news from Russia Today, along with other unreliable and/or open sources. Despite presenting itself as a source of scholarly analysis, Globalresearch.ca mostly consists of polemics many of which accept (and use) conspiracy theories, pseudoscience and propaganda . The prevalent conspiracist strand relates to global power- elites (primarily governments and corporations ) and their New World Order. Don't believe all you read on conspiracy theory sites . |
Youpele52: Ebola didn't originate from chimps or bats or bush meat. It was created, oh well invented. It wasn't created, it was isolated from a previous outbreak and patented to protect the intellectual property so as to have a monopoly on that particular method of vaccine development of that particular strain. The way you're pasting the link all over this thread shows you just "discovered" this patent . I bet you didn't bother to go through the patent literature. |
acidtalk: I concur with you on this.Include Onitsha, Aba.... |
Vado: Or maybe notThe Doc would have administered himself the same "substance" if there was something special.. the diplomat's immune system helped him, just like hundreds of ebola survivors across West Africa. |
This is Eldorado..... |
Cracked.com masterpiece.. |
CityNG: How are we, US, culpable in this? He's a F00L... |
kernel504: Look they deserve all the applause, the fact that Nigeria came up with anti Ebola vaccine (Nano Silver) in real time has restored Nigeria medical dignity among the committee of nations.#facepalm..... www.punchng.com/news/nanosilver-not-a-cure-for-ebola-manufacturer/ |
vedd: We were told that Adadevoh has been discharged with a clean bill of health before we lost her.The minister didn't mention the name.. It was the press that published her name on assumption. |
