linearity:
There is no constitutional requirement for the Senate to verify legitimacy of the votes, that is the function of INEC.

The only role that the Senate have is that, the Senate President will receive a certificate of recall from INEC, if the exercise was successful.

INEC then declare that Senate seat open and proceeds to set time table for new election with zero input or direction from the and not withstanding any grandstanding from the Senate.
I argue to become informed.
Ask a learned lawyer, no time for unnecessary argument.

Before you call other names check yourself.....If you had been following the process, you would have read where INEC approached the Court for substituted service, which was granted.....Beside, how do you expect INEC to publish about 600,000 petitions on the National Dailies? The law is very clear on how the petition must be served!
If e like, let it be all of Kogi. Publish it as the law provides. That is the law. I have never read anywhere INEC approach the court on the second option.
Let's not talk too much, the National Assembly would have still flung the process out when it comes to them to verify the legitimacy of the votes. I'm sure that's why they no even pay attention. I trust them.
INEC should concentrate on step to conducting conclusive elections.

My point is, they were slow in thinking and acting.

Why do we waste money on semi qualified slowpokes like these. Smart lawyers would have envisaged this alleged dodging and quickly approach the the court with the second option, which is to publish the notice in a national daily.
Dino has every reason to say INEC has doctored those file. But no need, 90 days don elapse.

PoliticsIGP Idris Orders Dismantling Of Road Blocks Nationwide by Celcius(op): 6:29am On Sep 26, 2017
The Inspector General of Police,Ibrahim Idris, has ordered his men to immediately remove all roadblocks on highways nationwide.
But the police boss said personnel who involve in vehicular patrol on highways and major roads across the country must wear their uniforms, a bold name tag, and service number.

The routes which the IGP orders dismantling include, Lagos-Ibadan, Shagamu-Benin, Benin-Onitsha, Okene-Abuja, Kaduna-Kano, Katsina – Kano, Otukpo – Enugu, Enugu – Port Harcourt Express Ways.

A statement signed Monday night in Abuja by Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, late y, said the directives became necessary to enable ease of doing business in Nigeria, safeguard, and guarantee free passage of goods and travellers throughout the country.

According to him, no police department, section, squad or unit should mount road block without express permission of the Inspector General of Police.
The police boss added that police personnel who involve in vehicular patrol on highways and major roads across the country must wear their uniforms, a bold name tag, and service number.

He said Special X-Squad teams of the Force have been deployed throughout the country and they are under strict instructions to arrest, investigate and discipline any police personnel violating this directive.

Moshood, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) said the IGP also directed the Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) in charge of Zonal Commands, Commissioners of Police in charge of State Commands, Heads of Departments, to ensure that every patrol vehicle in their respective formation carries a conspicuous and legible inscription of patrol vehicle identification number, and dedicated emergency phone numbers for ease of identification and report of distress by members of the public.

The statement reads :”The Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim k. Idris NPM, mni, has ordered the dismantling of all roadblocks nationwide with immediate effect; particularly on the following routes, Lagos-Ibadan, Shagamu-Benin, Benin-Onitsha, Okene-Abuja, Kaduna-Kano, Katsina – Kano, Otukpo – Enugu, Enugu – Port Harcourt Express Ways.

“The IGP has also directed the Special X-Squads to embark on removal of other forms of illegal blockage and obstructions on Highways and Roads, created by unlawful Revenue/Tax collectors, Road Transport Unions, Labour and Trade related unions inhibiting vehicular movement and smooth passage of passengers and goods, and other road users across the country.

“For avoidance of doubt, the Taxes and Levies act, Laws of Federation of Nigeria 2004 section 2 (2) disallowed any person, including a Tax Authority from mounting a Road block in any part of the Federation for the purposes of collecting any Tax or Levy.

“While monitoring and ensuring full compliance of this directive by all the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, the Force hereby advised the relevant State Governments, Local Government Councils, Boards of States Internal Revenue service, and various Transport Unions, Labour and Traders Associations that it is against the law for any organization to create a blockage to restrict or restrain members of the public the free usage of Roads and Highways anywhere in the country,” the statement noted.

PoliticsI Do Not Support IPOB But… – Governor Fayose by Celcius(op): 7:36am On Sep 25, 2017
The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose , says he is not a promoter of the Indigenous People of Biafra .
He , however , said the government must address agitations through dialogue and not military might .
Fayose said this in a series of tweets on his official Twitter handle on Sunday .

The governor said , “ Let the use of brute force be the last option in matters of agitation . Battles can be won without the use of force . Having said that , I am not promoting IPOB , but Buhari should lead Nigeria with equity and justice.

“ In every family there are both the good and bad people . Agitation is normal in every society but the way to go about it is to tread cautiously . I ’ m not for division of Nigeria . But the Federal Government should engage in more of dialogue with agitating groups ; use carrot and stick approach instead of guns . ”
Fayose said Nigeria must be restructured in order to promote fairness and equity.

Fayose further advised the All Progressives Congress to include members of the opposition in the Governor Nasir el - Rufai restructuring committee .

He added , “ What this government needs to do is to restructure and this matter should not be handled by the APC. It should not be a party affair . Using brute force is not democratic . Running a democracy should not be by propaganda . Democracy is not autocracy . ”

HealthThe Causes Of Premature Birth – Gynaecologist by Celcius(op): 4:36am On Sep 24, 2017
Chris Abumchi, a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, says violence among couples can predispose pregnant women to preterm births.
Mr. Abumchi said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday in Abuja.

He said that other social vices such as smoking, alcohol consumption and drug abuse could also lead to preterm birth.

He said that Nigeria ranked the highest with the burden of premature babies in the world after India and China.

According to him, preterm birth was a global challenge and one in every 10 babies is born premature.

He said that with 800,000 babies born prematurely every year, Nigeria had the highest burden in the world after India and China.

He explained that premature babies were born alive before 37 weeks of pregnancy, and may experience more health challenges with need to stay longer in hospital than babies born later.

“The earlier in pregnancy a baby is born, the more likely he is to have health problems because premature babies have to spend time in a hospital’s neo-natal intensive care unit.

“But thanks to advances in medical care, even babies born very prematurely are more likely to survive today than ever before,’’ he said.

Mr. Abumchi said the normal gestation period for humans was between 38 to 42 weeks, adding that preterm babies were born before the developing organs mature enough to allow normal postnatal survival.

He said the causes of preterm birth include weakness of the neck of the womb whereby a pregnant woman’s cervix begins to dilate before the pregnancy reaches full term.

“Multiple pregnancies, statistically 54 per cent of twins are delivered preterm as opposed to 9.6 per cent of singleton births while triplets and other multiple births are more endangered.

“Infections and chronic conditions such as gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, genetic influences and previous preterm births can as well predispose women to it,’’ he said.

He identified warning signs of preterm labour as contractions whereby the belly tightened every 10 minutes or more, change in vaginal discharge such as fluid or bleeding and belly cramps, among others.

The consultant advised women to seek early pre-natal care immediately they realised they had conceived to receive information on how to eat right, gain the proper weight and screen for infections.

He said all pregnant women should avoid certain risk factors such as being overweight, smoking, illegal drugs during pregnancy.
